PRODUCT SHEET CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition r11.3 CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition is a single-engine enterprisewide workload automation solution that allows you to define and execute workload across the enterprise using a highly reliable, highly scalable automation tool. It centralizes the definition and maintenance of workload definitions using a mainframe-hosted engine that can execute workload across a Sysplex configuration or a cross-platform environment consisting of multiple and disparate platforms and distributed ERP applications. Overview CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition has evolved from the old job scheduling solutions of the past and can drive many types of workload processing objects across the enterprise, coordinating the execution of the appropriate sequence of workload, without the scheduling restrictions of many job scheduling architectures. It addresses the requirement to easily and proactively manage your enterprise from a business process perspective, while facilitating service level compliance and high availability in a cost-effective manner. Business value CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition allows you to manage workload across the enterprise by simply knowing WHAT needs to run, WHEN it needs to run, and WHERE the workload needs to run. This allows you to extend the skills and knowledge of your mainframe centric staff to manage workload across the enterprise. The new workload objects can even allow you to more efficiently automate the development of new business functionality.

Features Mainframe 2.0 CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition has adopted key Mainframe 2.0 features that are designed to simplify your use of CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition and enable your staff to install, deploy and maintain it more effectively and quickly. CA Mainframe Software Manager : CA Mainframe Software Manager (CA MSM) automates CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition deployment and maintenance and removes SMP/E complexities. The Software Acquisition Service enables you to easily move product installation packages and maintenance from CA Support Online directly to your mainframe environment and prepare them for installation. The Software Installation Service standardizes CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition installation, which includes a new, streamlined Electronic Software Delivery (ESD) method that allows CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition to be installed using standard utilities. This service also provides standardized SMP/E product installation and maintenance via APARs and PTFs, and simplifies SMP/E processing through an intuitive graphical user interface and an intelligent installation wizard. The Software Deployment Service enables you to easily deploy CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition in your mainframe environment. CA MSM Consolidated Software Inventory (CSI) updates and infrastructure improvements add flexibility to CA MSM processing of CSIs and enable CA MSM to more effectively utilize CPU and system memory. Installation Verification Program (IVP) and Execution Verification Program (EVP): As part of qualification for inclusion in the set of mainframe products from CA Technologies released every May, CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition has passed stringent tests performed through the IVP and EVP to find and resolve interoperability problems prior to release. These programs are an extension of CA Technologies ongoing interoperability certification initiative launched in May 2009. Best Practices guide: This guide provides information on CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition installation, initial configuration and deployment to shorten the learning curve for staff who are responsible for the installation and management of this product. Health Checker: The Mainframe 2.0 Health Checker provides CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition Health Checks that execute under the IBM Health Checker for z/os. 2

Additional workload objects enabled for enterprise workload automation CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition r11.3 introduces the new Integrated Agent Services to allow customers to leverage over 40 new workload objects that can be incorporated into the enterprise schedules. Customers using a reliable, dependable mainframe environment want the option of extending that reliability to manage their enterprise workload using a single engine solution that can effectively manage a variety of workload across the enterprise. By exploiting new agent integration, customers can access basic troubleshooting information without the need for access to the production servers to login and retrieve information. The key to success is the tight integration of technology and business processing. The dynamic nature of business means that technology must be just as agile, responding readily with reliable and timely information. Work must be managed according to business relevance, which means managing the performance and availability of cross-platform applications with automation that understands the complex interdependencies and can respond rapidly to changing requirements. This challenge can only be met by a solution that provides a central view of your enterprise, and facilitates the management of jobs and schedules as cohesive processes. CA Technologies has always been a leader in providing industry-standard, high performance, scalable job management and workload automation for mission-critical systems. CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition gives you the power to trigger work spanning all major platforms based on job dependencies, resource availability, automated recovery scripts and more. What s new in CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition r11.3 Interface to CA Workload Automation Agents r11.3: CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition works with the CA Workload Automation Agents (formerly the CA ESP System Agents) to control and monitor processes across hundreds or thousands of individual servers across the enterprise. Both the workload definition and monitoring can be done through a single point of control without additional staff overhead, skills gaps or compromised performance. Jobflow Monitor: Monitoring the active workload in CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition Jobflow Monitor (JFM) knows about the flows executing in the system. This provides more accurate calculation for paths involved in meeting Service Level Agreements (SLAs) by CA Critical Path Monitor. 3

Improved job and data set SMF feedback: Using the IBM Cross-System Coupling Facility (XCF) the time required to get the SMF data from the independent communications manager (ICOM) to CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition decreases due to system-tosystem communication. This also reduces the contention on the Communication Data set (COMMDS) between the ICOMs and the online system of CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition. Time zone normalization: Capturing the time zone offset where a job executes or a data set is created permits CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition to display times where the online system is executing. This localizes the displayed times and may be used in determination of requirement satisfaction. Perpetual calendars: Perpetual calendars permit specification of schedule and nonschedule days without regards to a specific year. If a base calendar is referenced but does not exist, a base calendar will be built from the existing perpetual calendar definition. Interface to System State Managers: CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition may register with IBM Automatic Restart Manager (ARM) or IBM Health Check or CA OPS/MVS System State Manager. These systems monitor the health or active state of CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition Online, ICOM, and Network Communication Facility (NCF) address spaces, which permits awareness if the address spaces are not active or responding. Enterprise-wide, cross-platform workload automation Leveraging the power and reliability of the mainframe, CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition can extend that capability across the enterprise and even into application automation thru the use of CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition agents. IT can no longer rely on batch scheduling techniques of the past and must enable their businesses to more quickly develop new business functionality that can give them a competitive advantage. Originally designed to support overnight batch processing only, job scheduling has evolved into workload automation. CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition supports the agility needed for today s on-demand processing needs. It facilitates quicker development from existing processes and jobs, automates complex performance management to respond to changing SLA requirements and makes it easier to manage the complex, multi-tiered, cross-platform business data processing. No matter what platform you are most comfortable working on, CA Workload Automation CA 7 Edition makes it possible for you to deliver reliable information processing with the limited workforce you have, by automating basic functions and problem-response, and by empowering your existing staff to manage the enterprise. 4
