Annul Added Cpcity [MW] Cumultive Cpcity [MW] Cumultive Development Yer DEVELOPMENT AS OF 31 ST DECEMBER This fct sheet presents the sttus of lnd-bsed wind energy development in Germny s of 31 st December nd nlyses the development of dditions during the yer. In the time period exmined, 1 766 lnd-bsed wind turbine genertors (WTG) with totl cpcity of 4 75.26 MW were erected. At lest 413 repowering turbines with cpcity of 1 147.88 MW re included in the gross ddition. Furthermore, 544 dismntled WTG s with cpcity of 364.35 MW were identified. An overview of the development in nd the instlled totl cpcity is presented in Tble 1. As of 31 st December, totl of 24 867 WTG s with totl cpcity of 38 115.74 MW Tble 1: Sttus of Lnd-Bsed Wind Energy Development in were instlled. Shre of Repowering Cpcity from Annul Cpcity Addition [%] Dismntling nd Cpcity Addition in the Frmework of Repowering Projects [MW] Yer DISMANTLING AND REPOWERING In ccordnce with the lst REL (Renewble Energy Lw or EEG) mendment tht cme into force on 1 st August, centrl turbine register ws estblished. The register is designed to cpture dditions to wind energy, s well s repowering nd dismntling, in detil. Opertors re obligted to provide relevnt reports. Strting in August, this resulted in the vilbility of relible nd comprehensive dt for repowering nd dismntling for the first time. The repowering turbines, s well s dismntled WTG s, cptured by the turbine register between August nd December were synchronized with this sttistic nd complemented by dditionl dt collected specificlly between Jnury nd July. In summry, for the entire yer the dt vilbility for repowering nd dismntling hs improved, however, the ctul repowering nd dismntling numbers ssumedly re still higher thn the collected dt. Dismntling Over the course of, t lest 544 WTG s with cpcity of 364.35 MW were dismntled. The verge cpcity of dismntled WTG ws bout 67 kw. It is possible to derive the net dded cpcity from the nnul gross ddition nd the dismntling of WTG s. For, the net cpcity is 4 385.91 MW. It should be noted gin tht n underestimtion of the dismntling numbers leds to n overestimtion of the net cpcity ddition. Repowering In the frmework of the sttisticl dt collection for the yer, 413 of the totl 1 766 newly erected WTG s hve been identified s repowering turbines (mening those WTG s for which t lest one old WTG locted in the sme or neighboring county/district hd been dismntled). With n identified cpcity of 1 147.88 MW, this equtes to repowering shre of t lest 24.2 % of the gross ddition for. The repowering turbines hve n verge output of 2 779 kw. In on verge, the turbine cpcity of newly erected WTG s in Germny ws 2 69 kw (in 213 the verge ws 2 598 kw). The verge rotor dimeter ws 99 meters, four meter lrger thn the verge in 213 (95 meters). The verge hub height ws 116 meters, one meter below the verge of 213 (117 meters). Regionl differences regrding the verge turbine configurtion re discussed in more detil in the following section ( Regionl Distribution of Wind Energy Development ). Yer REGIONAL DISTRIBUTION OF WIND ENERGY DEVELOPMENT The regionl distribution of wind energy development in cross the individul Germn sttes is exmined below. The results re shown in Tble 3. In, WTG s were erected in ll 16 sttes. Schleswig-Holstein received more thn qurter of the overll cpcity of 4 75 MW instlled in Germny. In the Germny-wide comprison, Lower Sxony cme in second plce with bout 627 MW of newly instlled cpcity. With 498 MW, Brndenburg reched the third plce. More thn hlf (51 %) of the totl new instlltions took plce in the three sttes nmed bove. The southern Germn sttes of Rhinelnd-Pltinte nd Bvri cme in fourth nd fifth plce with cpcities of 463 nd 41 MW of newly instlled cpcity. Another northern Germn territoril stte, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerni, took sixth plce with 373 MW. North Rhine- Westphli, locted in centrl Germny, took seventh plce with 37 MW, followed by Sxony- Anhlt with 291 MW in eighth plce. 215 MW were instlled in Hesse (ninth plce) nd 148 MW in Thuringi (tenth plce). In ech of the remining sttes less thn 1 MW were instlled.
