the city is our classroom. Most law schools ask students to think like a lawyer. At NYLS, we ask them to act like lawyers. The NYLS J.D. programs are distinguished by their innovative and successful integration of the study of legal theory and practice. NYLS offers three course sequences: The full-time day program The part-time Evening Division The two-year J.D. Honors Program In addition to traditional required courses and more than 250 upperlevel electives, our distinctive skills-based curriculum offers students unique opportunities to develop substantive expertise beyond a broad understanding of the law through our Academic Centers, and gain handson experience through clinics, externships, and project-based learning courses. Because of our location in the heart of Lower Manhattan, students can get to many of their clinics and externships in the time it takes to get from one class to another.
