Setting up Remote Solution Windows 7 or Vista Connecting to ParishSOFT From Start on your computer type MSTSC in the Search Windows and Program File box directly above the Start icon. The Remote Desktop Connection program box will appear, in the Computer field type remoteaccess.parishsoft.com. Then Select the Options button to view more settings. Page 1
The following window will be displayed, Select the Local Resources tab and Select the More option and place a check mark in the Drives box. 1. Select the General tab and select Save As, the dialog box below will be displayed. 2. From the Left panel Select Desktop then in the File Name field type ParishSOFT. 3. Select Save. This will place a shortcut on your desktop to ParishSOFT. Page 2
Accessing Your database Double click the ParishSOFT you just created to launch the remote desktop. The following message may appear: Check mark the Don t ask me again for connections to this computer, then select Connect. The initiating remote connection box will be displayed. After the connection has been established you will be presented with a login box: At this login box 1. Select the the second login option Use Another Account. 2. Enter the Remote Solutions ID and password that you submitted to ParishSOFT prior to your training. 3. The first time you enter your login ID you must enter parishsoft10\ before the ID. You will only need to do this the first time. NOTE: If you are get an error message stating Invalid Credentials type parishsoft10\ before your name in the ID field. Page 3
Switching to your parish database When you access your database through Remote Solutions for the first time you will need to switch from the demo database to your data. 1. Open the ParishSOFT Family Directory. Log in using the following credentials a. ID: System Admin b. Password: pass 2. At the main Family Directory screen, from the menu bar select File, Open Parish Database. 3. Answer YES to change the database and then navigate the PSData****.mdb file that is now located on the I: Drive. Access the I Drive by double clicking on Computer, under the Favorites Link down the left side of the dialog box. Page 4
4. Select the database by double clicking on the file and answering YES to this alternate location. 5. Log into the Application. Setting up Accounts for users Once you have switched to your database you will need to create accounts for yourself and the rest of your staff. From the Staff Menu select Manage Staff List Add User. Use the dialog box that appears to search for an existing member. If the member is listed select their name then select the Accept button. The name will then appear in the Selected Person dialog box. After searching if the name does not appear use the Create New to add the staff personnel to the Member List. Fill in the details for the person you are adding. The required fields are: First Name Last Name Status Gender After these fields are completed select Update. Page 5
Assigning Access Rights 1. Select the person you had added to the Staff List. 2. Select the Access Rights tab and place a check mark in each of the boxes that the new staff member needs permissions. 3. After the permissions have been completed, select the Update button. The default password for all new accounts is set to pass. For further details regarding Access Rights please reference your Family Directory Manual. Page 6
Setting up a Universal Printer To print from ParishSOFT through Remote Solutions you will need to install a Univeral Print driver. 1. From an internet browser go to www.parishsoft.com/support. 2. On the left side of the browser window on the bottom portion of the screen you will see Remote Solutions Universal Print Client, select PC Client Download. 3. You will receive a dialog box asking you to Run or Save the file, select Run. 4.
