Many printers have special instructions for the direction in which you should load sheets. Avery recommends that a sheet of labels be fed only ~ nce through a laser or ink jet printer. Our guarantee of jam-free performance extends only to a sheet of labels that has been fed through a laser printer a single time. The heat and tight paper path of a laser printer can cause the label to curl after multiple passes through the printer. This could cause the label to jam or peel off inside the printer and result in an expensive repair bill. Most Avery laser products are designed to work in laser and ink jet printers directly from the automatic feed tray. However, there are certain exceptions: White Laser Labels: HP LaserJet 4P and 4L printers: - Use manual feed. Labels must feed straight out the rear exit of the printer. Do not feed labels from the paper cassette tray. Clear Laser Labels: Not recommended for ink jet printers. HP LaserJet and Apple Laserwriter printers (1st generation only): - Manual feed recommended. HP LaserJet IIP, IIIP and LaserJet 4 printers: - Use the standard multi-purpose tray. Do not feed labels from the optional paper cassette tray. Avey Colors Fluorescent Labels: HP LaserJet IIP and IIIP printers: - Use the standard multi-purpose tray. Do not feed labels from the optional paper cassette tray. - For best results, open the optional back output tray. 2 IMPORTANT: For trouble-free label printing, have your printer thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis. If you have an HP LaserJet 4 series printer, you can obtain special tips on printer cleaning by requesting Avery FaxFacts Bulletin #1094. See Section 4 of this booklet for direction on using the FaxFacts service.
