Art. 1. Purpose of the call and general regulations 1. This call regulates the procedure for enrolment in the first year of the Economics and management curriculum of the Ca' Foscari first cycle degree programme in Economia aziendale - Economics and management for AY 2014/15 2. Based upon an agreement reached with the University of Trieste, the admission test for its degree programs will take place on the same date, with the same methods and contents. 3. Personal information provided by candidates will be processed, on paper or in electronic form, in compliance with current legislation (Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003). 4. Candidates shall be guaranteed access to the records concerned, in accordance with Italian Law 241/1990 and subsequent amendments. Art. 2. Available places 26 August 2014 Summer Selection 1. 150 places are available in the summer selection for Italian, EU and non-eu students resident in Italy. 2. A total number of 180 places are available for candidates enrolling in the first year of the Economics and management curriculum of the First Cycle Degree Programme in Economia aziendale - Economics and management. 3. Places held by candidates selected in the spring who do not register before the deadline of July 31st, 2014 will be made available for summer selection. 3. 10 of these places are reserved for non-eu students resident abroad meeting the requirements laid down in the M.I.U.R. guidelines (Reference no. 1291 of 16 May 2008). Art. 3. Admission requirements 1. To be admitted to the selection procedure students must meet one of the following requirements before the expiration of the pre-enrolment deadline (August 19th 2014): five-year secondary school certificate, including officially recognised foreign language secondary schools; teachers training college certificate or art school certificate with additional one-year course; candidates who have not attended the additional foundation year may still apply although: in case of enrolment, they may have Educational Debits, which must be fulfilled in compliance with the procedures laid down for the degree programme concerned by the end of the first year, along with any Additional Learning Requirements that may have accrued following assessment of their skills; vocational secondary school certificate gained according to Law 27/10/1969 no. 754; applied art secondary school certificate gained at a State Art School; GCE diplomas are valid only where applicants prove they have passed 6 different subjects, 3 of which must be advanced, (A level) and which relate directly to the program requested. secondary school-leaving leaving qualification taken abroad provided it is considered equivalent to the Italian qualification required for enrolment purposes. 2. Students wishing to enrol must have certified English proficiency at Level B2 or above. Art. 4. Admission procedure After checking that you have correctly completed all the stages in the on-line pre-enrolment enrolment procedure you must pay the 26 pre-enrolment fee by 12 noon on 19 August 2014. Applications submitted after the deadline or failing to comply with the taken into consideration. procedures laid down here will not be taken into consideration 4.1. Online pre-enrolment To access the Summer selection you have to apply for the pre-enrolment enrolment even if you already took part in the Spring selection. a) Pre-enrolment enrolment can be carried out online on the university website from 1 July 2014 to 12 noon on 19 August 2014. The online procedure involves two stages: Registration on the university website (www.unive.it/registrazione) by entering your personal data, residence, and, eventually, domicile. After completing the registration procedure, you will be given a user name and password that will give you access to your Personal Area to complete the next stage of enrolment; Enrolment in the admission test,, by going to the Personal Area in www.unive.it and following this page sequence: Online Student Services - ESSE3 > Admission test. During the course of this procedure, candidates must: o indicate where the test is being held (Trieste will also be included as a location, as stipulated in Art.5). If the chosen location is not accepted by Ca Foscari University of Venice, the candidate must remember to also pre-enrol enrol at the University of Trieste. o enter their SAT Math or GMAT Quantitative test score (if applicable); o press the button to pay their pre-enrolment fee (see point 4.2); o print their admission test receipt. You must print your pre-enrolment receipt to complete the pre-enrolment procedure. b) If you are already in possession of the credentials necessary to access the restricted area (for example ex-students or students who have previously enroled for other application procedures at the Institution) you may skip the first step. 2
c) After you have completed the online procedure, an email will be sent to the email address you entered during the registration stage to confirm that enrolment in the test has been carried out properly. d) If you encounter difficulties during the pre-enrolment procedure, just send an email asking for help to immatricolazioni@unive.it. e) The universities will be closed from August 11th to the 17th, 2014: during this period it will be possible for students to preenrol for the application test online, however there will be no guarantee of technical assistance or phone/email responses. f) If the candidate would also like to register for the curriculum at the University of Trieste (see Art. 5.1) they must pre-enrol according to the requirements of both Universities. 4.2. Pre-enrolment fee To access the Summer selection you have to pay the pre-enrolment fee even if you already took part in the Spring selection. a) The payment function will be activated once you have completed the online pre-enrolment procedure: you will see two buttons allowing you to choose your preferred payment method. b) The 26 pre-enrolment fee must be paid online after you have completed the online pre-enrolment procedure (see point a) above): using a Visa or Master Card; using the M.O.D code (MAV on demand) that appears when you click on the Paga con MAV button: just give this code to the bank clerk in any Italian bank to make this payment. Remember to ask the bank clerk for your payment receipt. c) The payment receipt must be handed in on the day of the admission test (see Art. 6, point 2 below). d) The above payment methods only are accepted. e) Payment of the pre-enrolment fee entitles you to participate in the summer selections for all the degree programmes in the economic area of Ca' Foscari University, which are all regulated by a call for applications. f) Pre-enrolment fees will not be refunded for any reason whatsoever. 4.3. Accommodations for candidates with disabilities or candidates with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) a) The test held by the University will take into account the individual needs of disabled candidates in compliance with Italian Law No. 104 of 1992 and subsequent amendments. b) Candidates with disabilities or SLD wishing to have special test arrangements should make their request in advance. In particular: candidates with disabilities may take the admission test using the necessary accommodations and with additional test time in relation to their specific disability; candidates with SLD (see Italian law No.170/2010) must submit the necessary certification issued within 3 years of the test by National Health Service facilities or by specialists or facilities officially recognised by the National Health Service. Candidates have a 30% extended time allowance to take the admission test. In cases of certified severe disability further accommodations may be made to ensure that all candidates have equal opportunities in taking tests. c) The candidate must present their request for disability service during the online pre-enrolment: they must specify the type and degree of the disability/disorder; they should specify any particulars regarding the assistance requested; they must attach a certification demonstrating the possession of a declared disability or disorder. Art. 5. Admission test 5.1. Validity of the test a) as a result of an agreement made between Ca Foscari University of Venice and the University of Trieste, the candidate will provide a single valid examination for the following degree courses: Ca Foscari University of Venice: Degree in Business Administration - Economics and Management (curriculum Economics and Management) University of Trieste: Degree in Economics, International Trade and Financial Markets (curriculum in Economics of Financial and Insurance Markets and Economics and Management of Innovation) b) If the candidate would like to enrol at both institutions, they must: complete procedures for pre-enrolment online for each Institution; pay the required fees for pre-enrolment designated by each Institution; complete the admission test, which will be held August 26th, 2014 at the chosen Institution. 3
c) Exclusively for admission to the Economics and Management curriculum at Ca Foscari University of Venice, the candidate may choose to substitute the results achieved for the mathematics section of the exam held in Italian on August 25th for other economic degree courses (see the appropriate admission announcement). In this case the candidate must: complete the separate pre-enrollment procedures required for each course/curriculum for which they intend to apply; pay the required fees for pre-enrolment designated by each Institution (if only enroled for courses in Venice the candidate need only pay those costs); complete the mandatory admission test, which will be held August 25th, 2014 at the chosen Institution. d) If the candidate would like to compete for both a degree in Economics in Italian, as well as for a curriculum in English, and a degree in Economics, International Trade and Financial Markets from the University of Trieste, they must: complete the separate pre-enrolment procedures required for each course/curriculum for which they intend to apply; pay the required fees for pre-enrolment designated by each Institution; complete the admission test for the degree courses in Italian on August 25th, in addition to the admission test for the curriculum in English on August 26th. e) Candidates who have scored 580 out of 800 or over in the SAT Math test or 47 out of 60 or over in the GMAT Quantitative test may be exempted from taking the admission test. These scores correspond to the top 30% in the ranking obtained by candidates in their respective tests. The shortlist will be drawn up using the scores obtained in SAT or GMAT tests on the basis of the percentile ranking obtained. 5.2. Test subject matter, duration and scoring a) The test consists of 45 questions in English designed to assess candidates' aptitude for university study, and focusses on logic and maths skills in particular. It has a close-ended multiple choice format and will last 45 minutes. b) The questions are designed to assess: thinking skills (by means of exercises measuring the test taker's ability to comprehend, solve and analyse quantitative problems); maths skills (set union and intersection, logic problems, number and operations, arithmetic, basic algebra, equations and inequalities, graphs representing functions). c) The following scoring system is used: 1 point for a correct answer; 0 points for no answer; -0.5 points for an incorrect answer. d) To see a sample of last year's test go to www.unive.it following this page sequence Study with us > Bachelor's degree programmes- a.y. 2014/2015 > Department of Management > First Cycle Degree Programme in Business Administration- Economics and Management. Art. 6. Admission test process 6.1 Venue and times a) The admission test check-in is scheduled for 9:30 am on Tuesday 26 August 2014. b) The admission test will take place at San Giobbe (Cannaregio 873, Venezia), in the room indicated on the pre-enrolment receipt, except as defined in Art. 5 regarding cases of pre-enrolment for more than one course or curriculum. The test will begin at 10:30 am. 6.2. Test day documents a) Candidates must present the following documents on the test day: a photocopy of a valid form of ID; a copy of the pre-enrolment receipt; a pre-enrolment fee payment receipt. 6.3. Test rules a) Candidates may not take the test once the test has started. b) During the test candidates may only communicate with invigilators; they shall not either speak or communicate with other test takers. Candidates are not allowed to take bags, books or notes, paper, cell phones, calculators or other electronic devices to their desks, and must leave them at the table of the Test Committee, following the instructions given before the start of the test. Any candidates discovered in possession of such objects will be excluded from the test. Invigilators will be present in the classroom during the test to ensure that these rules are respected. c) Candidates must remain in the classroom for the entire duration of the test. d) Failure to follow the instructions given prior to the start of the test will lead to cancellation of the candidate's test. Art. 7. Shortlist 1. Candidates will be listed on the shortlist for graduate programs only if they registered correctly, following the procedures stipulated in Art.4. 4
2. The shortlist of admitted candidates will be based solely upon the test grade received. In the event that candidates procure grades of equal merit, preference will be given to the candidate whose final high school grade is higher. In the event of another tie, preference will be given to the younger candidate. 3. The shortlist will be published on 29 August 2014 at 6:00 pm on the university website (www.unive.it) according to the following page sequence Study with us > Bachelor's degree programmes- a.y. 2014/2015 > Department of Management > First Cycle Degree Programme in Business Administration-Economics and Management. The University will not contact candidates either in writing or by telephone. 4. The shortlist will confirm that candidates meet requirements for admission to degree programmes in the economic area of Ca' Foscari. Candidates scoring less than 15 out of 45 in the maths test will be assigned OFA, or Additional Learning Requirements (see Art. 10 below). Art. 8. Place acceptance and shortlist review 8.1. Procedure for accepting your place a) The acceptance procedure includes the registration of those selected, and will be followed by two repechages for any places that are still available. b) Candidates who find themselves in a favorable position on the admission shortlist, but who do not accept their registration place according to procedures stipulated shall be viewed as having renounced their intention to accept. The places that are consequently made available will be available by means of the two repechages, according to the procedures indicated in the following points. c) The places reserved for non-eu students residing abroad that remain vacant will be reassigned only to other non-eu students residing abroad. 8.2. Enrolment for winning candidates a) The candidates declared winners should accept their place according to the procedures described in Art.9, from 6:00 pm, August 29th- 4:00 pm, September 2nd, 2014. b)the candidates who find themselves in a favorable position on the admission shortlist who do not accept their place according to the procedures described by the following article shall be viewed as having renounced their intention to accept. 8.3. Places available (first review) a) On 3rd September 2014 at 12 noon an announcement will be published on the University website indicating the number of places still available. 8.4. Submission of retrieval application a) From 12:00 noon on 3rd September 2014 to 5th September 2014 waitlisted candidates can submit the retrieval application by going to their Personal Area and selecting this option from the Admission test menu. 8.5. Acceptance procedure (following first review) a) On 8th September 2014 at 4:00 pm the list of candidates admitted following the first review will be published online. b) Candidates must accept their place from 8th September 2014 at 4:00 pm to 10th September 2014 by completing their enrolment according to the procedure described in point 9 below. 8.6. Places available (second review) a) On 11th September 2014 at 4:00 pm an announcement will be published on the University website indicating the number of places still available. 8.7. Submission of retrieval application a) From 4:00 pm on 11th September 2014 to 14th September 2014 waitlisted candidates can submit the retrieval application by going to their Personal Area and selecting this option from the Admission test menu. 8.8. Acceptance procedure (following second review) a) On 15th September 2014 at 4:00 pm the list of candidates admitted following the second review will be published online. b) Candidates must accept their place from 4:00 pm on 15th September 2014 to 18th September 2014 by following the procedure described in point 9 below. 8.9. Reassignment of Available Places a) Any places that remain vacant after the two repechages can be reassigned. b) The number of available places and the procedures for reassignment will be published on the Institution s website on September 19th at 4;00 pm. Art. 9 Enrolment 9.1. Enrolment procedure a) Candidate enrolment that does not comply with the stipulated procedures will not be accepted. b) Enrolment is subject to the possession of the B2 English language certificate, as specified in Art. 3.2. c) The enrolment procedure involves two steps: compilation of online enrolment application; 5
payment of first instalment of university tuition fees. d) Compilation of online enrolment application: using the User name and password given to you at the end of the registration procedure, go to your Personal Area then select Enrolment > Corsi ad accesso programmato and click on the update enrolment button. Once the degree program is chosen, the process of compiling the application form for enrolment includes uploading a mandatory passport sized photograph in.jpg form as well as the following documents: a valid copy of an identification document (front and back) internationally recognised language qualification certifying English proficiency at B2 level; students who have already taken the SAT Math or GMAT Quantitative tests must submit their certificate with their test score; students with a disability of 66 per cent or over, who are entitled to exemption from their university tuition fees, or with a disability between 50 and 65 per cent, who are entitled to a reduction, must upload their disability certificate; other relevant enrollment documents e) Payment of first instalment of university tuition fees; after completing your online enrolment application, click on the "Payment" button to choose your preferred payment method. You can pay: online using a Visa or Master Card; using the M.O.D code (MAV on demand) that appears when you click on the Paga con MAV button: the payment can only be made using one of the branches of Banco San Marco of the Gruppo Banco Popolare. f) The first payment installment must be completed before, and not after, the deadline for placement acceptance, regardless of the expiration date of the whole reserved area. g) No refunds will be made of the first instalment of university tuition fees once paid and your enrolment has been finalised. h) Non-EU students residing abroad, and students with degrees completed abroad, should register themselves in accordance with the deadlines specified in Art.8, and present their application in person at the International Welcome Desk. In this case the payment can also be made with POS. 9.2. Finalisation of enrolment a) Compiling of the application form for enrolment and the first deposit signify the acceptance of a place, however they do not mean that the student will be automatically enrolled. Your enrolment will be finalised by the Enrolment Sector and communicated via email. Art. 10. OFA tests (Additional Learning Requirements) 1. If you pass your admission test you will be considered to have fulfilled your OFA requirements in mathematics. A pass score (15 or over) means that you have fulfilled your OFA requirements. A fail score means you will be required to fulfill an OFA after enrolment. If you obtained a score of 580 out of 800 or over in the SAT Math test or 47 out of 60 or over in the GMAT Quantitative test you have met your OFA requirements. 3. To those candidates who have been assigned the OFA of Mathematics, it is advised to attend courses that will be held between the 2nd and 13th of September, 2014, after which there will be a verification test. 4. If you have outstanding OFA (Additional Learning Requirements), you will not be allowed to take any exams until they have been fulfilled. Art. 11. Transfers, Course changes, Credit transfer 1. Transfers from other institutions are not permitted, neither is changing courses during the first year. Transfer to another institution is not allowed; once in effect, first year enrolment must be completed otherwise the ability to enrol in other courses will be suspended. 2. The enrolment of students enrolled at other universities, Italian and foreign, is not permitted. 3.
