Regulation, programme profile, learning outcomes, study plan, contact details, etc. are available online: The programme has a limited number of places available, and admission is regulated by an assessment of the candidate s skills. All candidates, including transferring students from other degree programs of the University of Bologna or from other Universities, will be required to follow the same selection procedures. AVAILABLE POSITIONS: EU and EU assimilated citizens: 75 positions Non-EU citizens resident abroad: 40 positions Erasmus Mundus applicants: 5 positions Should positions reserved to non-eu citizens not be fully covered, more positions will be available to candidates who are citizens of the European Union, or from countries of comparable qualification. 1

3 EU citizens: - Citizens of: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Cyprus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Hungary. EU assimilated citizens: - citizens from Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and the Republic of San Marino; - non-eu citizens holding one of the following: EC long-term residence permit, residence card (carta di soggiorno), residence permit for the purpose of employment or self-employment, for family reasons, political or humanitarian asylum, or on religious grounds; - non-eu citizens who have established a stay of at least one year in possession of a degree obtained in Italy; - non-eu citizens holding one of the following diplomas: final diploma of an Italian school abroad, or final diploma from a foreign/international school operating in Italy or abroad, that is subject to bilateral agreements or special regulations for the recognition of qualifications, and which satisfies the general conditions required for entry for study purposes (see art. 26 of Italian Law no. 189 of 30 July 2002); - people who have been resident in Italy for at least one year and hold a qualification obtained in Italy; - candidates holding a valid residence permit for study reasons and are already enrolled in a degree course, as long as regularly established in Italy for one year. - political refugees; - students from schools listed on this link (even though extra-eu): - staff of foreign diplomatic offices (Embassies/Consulates) as well as International Organizations based in Italy - accredited either at the Italian Government or at the Holy See - along with their family members (husband/ wife and children); Non-EU citizens resident abroad - Citizens of a country that is not a member of the EU, who do not possess the requirements to be treated as equivalent to EU citizens (see above). The regulations for the admission of non EU citizens resident abroad are defined by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research - MIUR. More details available here: Non-EU candidates will have to enter Italy with a STUDY VISA on their passport (visto Immatricolazione/Università ) and once in Italy, must apply for a residence permit for study reasons. While waiting for the release of the permit of stay, successful candidates will be admitted and enrolled conditionally to the delivery of the same. If you are a non-eu applicants already enrolled in another Italian University, you must apply as an EU applicant, within the settled deadlines. You will have to submit the transfer request to the General Administration Office of the University you are transferring from. 2

4 Selected candidates are exempted from the Italian language test, because the degree programme is taught in English. 3. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: High School leaving Diploma: Candidates are eligible to apply only if they have a five-year secondary school diploma obtained in Italy, or equivalent qualification obtained abroad, or a four-year secondary school certificate that allows enrolment to university programmes in the country that delivered the certificate. Non-Italian school-leaving certificates have to be validated through a declaration of value (dichiarazione di valore) issued by the Italian Embassy/Consulate in the Country where the certificate was released. Students can take part in the selection process without the dichiarazione di valore, but if they re admitted to the programme, they will need it for formal enrolment. Students who have not yet graduated from high school may still participate in the selection process, but their application is valid as long as they obtain the qualification by 31/12/2015. This means that they can still apply, and if they are selected, they can enroll to the programme conditionally, and must present to the General Administration Office their diploma/high school-leaving certificate (if needed, with dichiarazione di valore) as soon as they get it. Applicants who do not graduate from high school within that date will not be accepted to enrollment in Economics and Finance, even though they were initially selected. English language knowledge: Candidates shall possess English language skills (minimum required level is B2). Accepted language certifications are listed here: - FCE - First Certificate in English; - BEC - Business English Certificate Vantage; - BEC - Business English Certificate Higher; - IELTS (Academic) minimum score 5,5 out of 9; - TOEFL (valid) 78 out of 120 (internet based); - CAE - Certificate in Advanced English; - CPE - Certificate of Proficiency in English; - IB Diploma (International Baccalaureate) for High School or GCE (General Certificate of Education) in with at least 50% of the curriculum taught in English; - Pass in a B2 level English exam in a previous university study plan (certified with relevant transcript) - English native speaker status (Italian or foreign citizens who are fluent in English due to family history or country of raising); - Possession of SAT certificate, gained no longer than 5 years ago. Candidates will have to ask SAT College Board to forward their scores to the University of Bologna (using code 6993). 3

5 Validation of your qualification and pre-enrolment at the Embassy Candidates should contact the Italian Embassy/Consulate in their country and provide them with: Their high school diploma* [only if the education system in the given country lasts less than 12 years] the certificate stating the completion of academic studies or a post-secondary qualification issued by a non-university higher education institute (for more info: [only for non-eu students resident abroad] the pre-enrolment application (please check here: Pre-enrollment is available at Italian Embassies from 24 March to 30 June two passport photos. The Embassy must issue with: a legalised and translated copy of your high school certificate the declaration of value of your qualification (( legalised and translated versions of any other academic and post-secondary certificate (if applicable) [only for non-eu students resident abroad]: an authenticated passport photo and an entry visa to Italy for study purposes (STUDIO - Immatricolazione Università). If you are interested in applying for scholarships, benefits or grants ( can ask the Italian Diplomatic Representation to translate and legalize also the documents required for the application. IMPORTANT! * Specific regulations also exist concerning US, British and Greek qualifications, qualifications issued by Ecclesiastical institutions, Italian qualifications obtained from frontier schools, Italian sections of foreign schools, international baccalaureate qualifications, qualifications issued from the Republic of San Marino. SELECTION CRITERIA AND ASSESSMENT 1 ST INTAKE WHO: EU and EU-assimilated citizens (60 places) non-eu citizens (40 places) WHEN: registration to the assessment from 06/03/2015 to 17/04/2015, 1 pm. HOW: by submitting scores in ONE of the following tests: For EU and EU-assimilated citizens: - SAT - TOLC-E + B2 level language certificate (one among those listed in par.3) - TOLC-I + B2 level language certificate (one among those listed in par.3) - Unibo test 2 ND INTAKE For non-eu citiziens resident abroad - Dossier - SAT WHO: EU and EU-assimilated citizens (15 places + n positions not covered in the first intake). WHEN: Registration to the assessment from 10/06/2015 to 22/07/2015, 1 pm. HOW: by submitting scores in ONE of the following tests: - SAT - TOLC-E + B2 level language certificate (one among those listed in par.3) - TOLC-I + B2 level language certificate (one among those listed in par.3) IMPORTANT! All reported scores / grades will be normalized to a point scale, and entry will be based on a ranking of the points attained. There will be two ranking lists, one for each intake. Non-EU citizens can only be admitted in the first intake. Documents should be uploaded on the Student Portal Studenti Onine (see par. 6) SAT (Scholastic Admission Test) If you have a SAT certification (or if you are planning to take a SAT test) you will have to include in your application, within the deadlines listed above: a copy of your ID, (for EU-assimilated citizens) a copy of your residence permit, and a copy of your unofficial SAT score report. However, you will also have to ask SAT College Board to forward your scores to the University of Bologna, using code Only certificates gained no longer than 5 years ago will be considered as valid. Candidates with SAT are exempt from submitting proof of English language proficiency. The University of Bologna does not manage SAT tests. 7 TOLC-E, TOLC-I TOLC tests are in Italian, which is why candidates submitting scores from one of these two tests are also requested to provide evidence of English language competency. TOLC tests do include some questions in English which, however, will not be considered for the purpose of language assessment. If you chose to apply with your TOLC test scores you will have to include in your application, within the deadlines listed above: a copy of your ID, (for EU-assimilated citizens) a copy of your residence permit, a transcript of your TOLC (-E or I) scores, and one of the English language certificates listed in par. 3. The University of Bologna does not directly manage TOLC tests. For information, prices, deadlines, score reports, dates and places of the test, please check CISIA website UNIBO TEST The test is on 28 th April 2015 at 12pm, at the complesso aule Morassutti, viale Berti Pichat n. 6, Bologna. Candidates are expected to be there at 11am to check in, and bring receipt of registration to the test and ID. Candidates will have 2 hours to answer a total of 100 multiple choice questions, all in English (4 options each, only one correct). The first section includes 30 questions and aims to assess skills and competences in mathematics and logic. The second section comprises 70 questions/topics on general knowledge, literacy, reading comprehension. Scoring: 1 point for correct answers, - 0,20 points for incorrect answer, 0 points for non-given answers. Candidates choosing to be admitted via Unibo test will have to include in the application form a copy of ID and a copy of their residence permit (for EU-assimilated citizens) within the deadline for the first intake only. IMPORTANT! Unibo test is also valid for access to CLABE (Business and Economics) degree course. Candidates can participate to both CLEF and CLABE selection procedures by submitting two separate application forms and paying twice the 60 euro administration fee. DOSSIER Extra-EU (non-eu assimilated) candidates may choose to be assessed either with their SAT scores or by submitting a dossier in their application. The dossier shall include: a. School certificate with transcripts of grades from the last AND second-to-last year of school, for students who already graduated from high school (i.e. from G11 and G12). Students who are still completing their last year of high school must instead submit grades from their second-to-last and third-to-last year (i.e. G10 and G11). Only grades in Maths and History will be taken into account. If possible, students should provide a grading scale reporting passing and top grades in their school system (or, if passing and top grades differ according to each subject, they should provide passing and top grades for Maths and for History). The admission board will accept only transcripts translated into English or Italian. b. Certification of English proficiency (if the case, among those listed in par.3) c. Copy of passport. The score is given by the average of final marks in history and mathematics in the two years taken into account. 6

8 5. OFA Additional Learning Requirements Admission tests assess general knowledge as well as that of some specific fields. At CLEF it is important to know some basic mathematics, therefore if you do reach the minimum set threshold for maths in the ranking, you will be asked to do supplementary study, known by the Italian acronym OFA, which stands for Additional Learning Requirements. This makes sure that Economics and Finance students do not have any pronounced deficits in subjects that must be thoroughly grasped, due to the very nature of the degree programme. The minimum threshold, for the math sections only, are: 400/800 for SAT 4.5/13 for TOLC-E 7/20 for TOLC-I 13/30 for Unibo Test 7/10* for grades from transcripts in the dossier *this refers to the national grading scale in Italian high schools maths grades will be first normalized to and then converted to such a scale. IMPORTANT! Having been assigned an OFA does not in itself prevent one from enrolling, attending lessons and sitting exams. If you are selected with a OFA you can still register to the programme and take exams, but must as soon as possible fulfil the OFA. The OFA requirement is met by attending the bridging course in mathematics (crash course) and passing the first year exam Calculus and Linear Algebra by 31 March Students who receive the OFA in the 2015/2016 A.Y., and fail to pass the Calculus exam by that date, can only conditionally enrol in the second year: they may nonetheless present their study plan and attend lessons, but not take any second-year exam. Enrolment to second year will become effective once the OFA requirement is met; after that, students may begin to sit second-year exams. 6. APPLYING TO THE SELECTION PROCEDURE 1 ST INTAKE: from 06/03/2015 to 17/04/2015, 1 pm 2 ND INTAKE: from 10/06/2015 to 22/07/2015, 1 pm In order to apply to the selection procedure, please follow these steps: First Step (necessary only if you do not have a Unibo student account) 1) Connect to and create your personal User ID and Password by clicking on Se non sei ancora registrato, vai qui (It is now possible to switch to English language, if necessary). 2) Register by providing the required information (In case you are a foreign student and you do not have an Italian Tax ID (Codice Fiscale), you can click on International students registration and fill in the form to create your User ID and Password. 3) After your first access you will be asked to change your password. Please remember your Username and Password as they will be always required to access your profile. 7

9 Second Step (Unibo Username and Password required) 1) Access the online service using the same username and password 2) Click on Entrance exams or requirements check 3) Select Economics and Finance/Economia e Finanza - CLEF a.y. 2015/2016 and then next 4) Upload all the required documents in pdf format (as in par.4) 5) Pay the application fee (60,00 ), for the intakes, exclusively through one of the following paying methods (other methods will not be accepted): a. on-line, by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Diners, American Express), even if the holder of the credit card is not the candidate; b. through any UniCredit Bank Agency using the appropriate payment code printed during the online registration (the list of Unicredit Bank agencies is available on the UniCredit website). Payments from different banks agencies, through bank transfers or from postal offices cannot be accepted. The application fee is not refundable and must be forwarded by 17/04/2015, 1pm for the 1 st intake and by 22/07/2015, 1 pm for the 2 nd intake. Candidates willing to participate in the first AND the second intake will have to pay two application fees. Please note that documents should be submitted online, via Studenti Online only, not by or by post. 7. ADMISSION RANKING All reported scores / grades will be normalized to a point scale. Selection will be based on a ranking of the points attained. There will be two ranking lists, one for each intake. In case of a tie, the youngest candidate will prevail. Rankings will be issued on Studenti Online ( ) within 14 May 2015 for the first intake and 29 july 2015 for the second. Candidates are requested to check Studenti Online for results - unfortunately, the University of Bologna cannot notify successful and unsuccessful candidates via or post. 8. ENROLMENT PROCEDURE FOR ACCEPTED CANDIDATES Successful candidates must enrol within the following deadlines (please note that this is different from registering to the selection procedure, as this is your de facto formal enrolment to the University of Bologna): 1 st INTAKE: from 14/05/2015 to 27/05/ nd INTAKE: from 29/07/2015 to 03/09/2015. A) First ever enrolment to the University of Bologna 1) Login on line with personal username and password. 8

10 2) Fill in, print and sign the enrolment form with personal details, self-certification of degree qualification, (beware of consequences under art. 496 of Italian penal code regarding false declaration, in which case the candidate will be not enrolled and will lose any right to benefits, without any reimbursement). 3) Pay for the first installment or pay the total amount - according to the procedures published online at payment will be accepted from different modes/banks than those indicated. Documents post or deliver to the Students Administration Office (Segreteria studenti Economia, Management e Statistica, Via Zamboni, Bologna): Signed copy of application form; nr. 1 photo passport sized (Non-EU and non-assimilated citizens shall bring the 2 photos delivered at the Italian Embassy/Consulate abroad when pre-enrolling, and one shall be authenticated by the Embassy/Consulate); front/back copy of ID or passport receipt of payment for first installment (or for the total amount) of the tuition fees; only for all non-eu citizens: residence permit (permesso/carta di soggiorno) or, if requested and not received yet, a copy of the submitted request; only for students requiring the recognition of credits gained in previous academic careers: substitute declaration of degree certificate with transcript of records, to be downloaded online on people who graduated abroad shall also provide the documents as on Unibo Website: under Registration. IMPORTANT! After enrolment on the website you should ask for an appointment with the Students Administration Office (Segreteria Studenti) to deliver hard copies of your documents. The appointment should be set within the above mentioned deadlines; should there not be places available, you can book an appointment after the deadline; however, the payment shall be still made within due date. B) Candidates from other Universities Candidates transferring from other Universities are required to: 1) Submit request at home university 2) follow instructions for registration as in A) above, specifying that they are transferring from another University and pay the first instalment (or full amount) within deadlines in A) above; 3) handle the above mentioned documents in A) to the Students Administration Office (Segreteria Studenti); In order to finalize enrolment, the candidate shall pay Unibo tuition fees (first instalment or whole amount AND the transfer fee (the exact amount will be confirmed by the academic bodies by April). 9

11 C) Candidates transferring from other Degree Programmes of the University of Bologna (Passaggi) 1) From 28/07/2015 to 22/09/2015 (for those who got through the first selection) and from 29/07/2015 to 03/09/2015 (for those who got through the second selection) candidates should submit their transfer request following the instructions on Studenti Online ( 2) follow instructions for registration as in A) above, specify they are transferring from another degree programme of the same University and pay the first instalment (or full amount) within deadlines in A) above; 3) handle documents in A) to the Students Administration Office (Segreteria Studenti) of the new degree course. OPEN POSITIONS Not all selected students eventually enrol, which is why, after each intake, there might still be some places available; if that is the case, the Students Administration Office will publish on Studenti Online the number of places left available, soon after each intake s deadline for enrolment. If you were not selected but still listed in the general ranking, no matter what position, and are still interested in being included in the programme, you should login with your username and password, check whether or not there are places available, and explicitly confirm your interest, selecting the appropriate button.
