Research Education and Training Programs International Medicine Institute International Scholars Program: Under the leadership of Dr. Leopoldo Raij, one of IMI s medical directors, he started a mechanism for research scholars to be trained between select institutions. There are currently 4 participants; three from Brazil in the diabetes department and one from Argentina in the hypertension division.

International Clinical Research CoreValve: CoreValve Percutaneous ReValving System, which improves maneuverability while eliminating surgical cut-down of the femoral artery; received CE Mark. Pre-FDA research being performed by Angiografia de Occidente in Cali, Colombia by Dr. Antonio Dager, former UM trainee. Accumed Systems: Intra-coronary plaque temperature measurement device to be used in diabetic patients undergoing elective coronary stent implantation, called Thermal Sensing System (TSS) to better anticipate outcomes. First in Man procedure to be tried at Angiografia de Occidente in Cali, Colombia by Dr. Antonio Dager. Direct Flow Medical Inc: Percutaneous aortic tissue valve prothesis to provide patients requiring treatment of aortic stenosis with a safe and effective percutaneous option. Site will be Angiografia de Occidente in Cali, Colombia, Principal Investigator will be Dr. Antonio Dager. INVIMA regulatory processes pending. Synecor Neuro Tronik - Intravascular Stimulation of Cardiac Parasympathetic and Sympathetic Inputs in Humans.
