Intensive Course (IC or IP) The two-week IP is the core of the programme The purpose of the IP is to combine all the disseminated expertise we have in Europe Students and teachers of the participating universities are working together Teaching provided by the leading experts in the field Intensive learning through lectures, demonstrations, workshops Learning intercultural skills Best practice award from the European Commission

Funding IP s have been funded continuously since 2000 Funding received to cover students travel costs to IP and accommondation, funding also for teachers since 2006 Student exchange periods funded by Erasmus grants

Conclusions The programme has been a success so far (feedback of the students and the teachers, success in studies - PhD s, employment of the students ) EC Funding for individual students for the away period and IP- and CD -funding for the programme The aim that the alumni should keep on communicating achieved through ENYSSP

Curriculum Development Project in Sport and Exercise Psychology (CDSEP) In the course of earlier cooperation the network has been able to identify the worldwide need for education and research in sport and exercise psychology. Funding received from the European Commission for Curriculum Development for a three-year period 2005-2008. The output is an integrated two-year Master s programme, which attracts also non-european students.

The network Through the long cooperation the network has become a multicultural team highly motivated to proceed in the task to establish a Joint European Masters Programme in Sport and Exercise Psychology.

The aim of the programme To provide high quality research oriented master's level education, through English, in the multidisciplinary field of Sport and Exercise Psychology

Main features EMSEP programme is truly international and offers educational opportunities for students of all nationalities The two year programme consists of 120 ECTS credits The students will study in at least two universities

Admission requirements Previous studies: Bachelor's degree with good grades in Sport Sciences, Psychology, Social Psychology or other relevant field Proof of English language proficiency Proven interest in the field of sport and exercise psychology Basic knowledge of research methodology

Erasmus Mundus is Cooperation programme Four universities organise the programme jointly: Jyväskylä, Finland (coordinator); Lund, Sweden; Thessaly, Greece; and Leipzig, Germany The programme graduates will receive a Double degree (master s degree from two universities/countries)

Scholarship programme Possibility to apply for scholarships for both European and non European students and scholars Students: scholarships for tuition fees In addition, 1000/month for non European and 500/month for European students for living expenses Non European students receive also 8000 for traveling expenses (for the entire two years) In total, 47 000 for non European students and 19 000 for European students during two years of study to cover the tuition fees and living expenses

Online Survey Conducted in June 2008 Programme: Survey Xact Sent out to 174 former students (1996-2007) Response rate: 64 complete, 6 partial (40.2%) Age: 31.5 years (SD= 4.7) Gender: 57.1 % female, 42.9 % male

Programme description by students 41.6% of the descriptions focus on the knowledge aspect 20.8% on the networking opportunities 14.3% highlight the international experience 9.1% focus on career enhancement aspects 7.8% address the lack of applied contents 6.5% mention the expertise of the teachers

First Job 85.9% of the participants have started working 52.7% state that a Master s degree was a requirement for receiving their first job after graduation 56.4% are still at the same job

Employment status 40% a permanent position 27.3% a fixed term or temporary job 25.5% a part time job 5.5% are self-employed 1 person (1.8%) is employed by subsidies

Current employment setting 13 (18.6%) indicated that they worked in an applied setting in their first job and / or are currently working in an applied setting 42 (60 %) are working in another setting (e.g. research, teaching, business) 9 (12. 9%) have not completed their degree yet or are not in their first job yet (6 missing answers = 8.6%)

Further education 19 students (37.3 %) have completed or are completing a PhD Main reasons: Interested in research Want to pursue an academic / university career

Satisfaction with EMPSEP Students rated their satisfaction with the programme in relation to their career as 4.72 (SD=1.13). Scale: extremely dissatisfied (1) to extremely satisfied (6)

Satisfaction with EMPSEP 68.8% of the participants feel that they have benefited from the international network provided by the programme s students and teachers. 93.8% would recommend the European Master s programme to other students in their field.

Conclusion EMPSEP students are employable. EMSEP students are satisfied with the programme.
