ADOPTION OF AGENDA The committee adopted the proposed agenda. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Ms. Stevens distributed minutes from the October 18, 2006 meeting. The committee approved them as written. CHAIR S REPORT Mr. Webb reported that Steve Chew has left the Professional Services Group (PSG) and is no longer the PSG contact for the Alabama Library Association. Carol Lee is the new PSG contact for the ALLA. Mr. Webb reported that Ms. Poe is working on a re-design of the ALLA Web page. Ms. Poe added that she hoped to unveil the new page at the ALLA convention, if not before. Ms. Waddell commented that the Montgomery Civic Center renovations may not be completed in time for the 2008 ALLA convention so the convention may move to Birmingham that year.

COMMITTEE REPORTS Bylaws No report. Legislative No report. Mr. Webb commented that Legislative Day planning is underway and that he hopes the academic libraries will be well-represented. Membership No report. Nominating No report. Mr. Webb said that Mr. Dial submitted a slate of candidates for the 2007-2008 CUS ballot. Candidates are as follows (as listed in the January 2007 ALLA Communicator): Chair-Elect: Beata Walton; Secretary: Cheryl Cecil; Member-at-Large for Programs: Tim Dodge; Member-at-Large for Projects: Vera Finley Planning No report. Programs No report. Projects Ms. Poe is updating the CUS liaison list. She distributed a list of contacts who have not responded thus far to see if the committee could verify any liaisons. Ms. Poe has updated the CUS brochure. Public Relations No report. Publications Report attached. Research Report attached. Ms. Poe and Ms. Waddell noted that the CUS Research Forum was not listed on the convention program that was distributed at the last ALLA Executive Council meeting. Dr. Luzius said he thought Mr. Webb had turned in the program information form for the forum. Mr. Webb suggested Dr. Luzius check with ALLA Convention Chair Bonnie Lee to be sure she had the program information. There was discussion about trying to locate a third speaker for the Research Forum. Dr. Luzius sent the call to the University of Alabama School of Information and Library Science (SLIS), but received no student submissions. Ms. Becker suggested getting someone to speak about scholarly publication and research at the forum, possibly a professor from SLIS. She also suggested possibly getting someone from outside the library field such as a Communications professor. It was noted that since the convention is in Mobile, if a speaker from the University of South Alabama could be located, he or she would only need to be offered an honorarium and not travel expenses.

OLD BUSINESS Convention Programs Report attached. Ms. Waddell has turned in all the required paperwork for these two programs. CUS Breakfast Program: Social Networks: the Good, the Bad and the Ugly This program will be co-sponsored by the Alabama Two-Year College Library Association, AACRL, and CUS. Ms. Waddell has panelists representing 4-year and 2-year university libraries and public libraries, and is trying to locate a student from SLIS to serve on the panel. Panelists include: Laurie Charnigo (Jacksonville State University), Paula Barnett-Ellis (Jacksonville State University), Dr. Jeff Luzius (Gadsden State Community College), and Tracey Thomas (B.B. Comer Memorial Library). Ms. Waddel has requested a microphone for audience questions in order to start an interesting dialogue. She is planning for 40 attendees, and would like to have some freebies for them. Mr. Webb said he could provide notepads. The cost for the session will be $20. Technoforum This program will be co-sponsored by TSSRT, GODORT, and CUS. Chris Grabenstatter from OCLC will address the State of Technical Services followed by the panelists. Panelists include: Phyllis Russell Tanner (Enterprise-Ozark Community College), Jack Fitzpatrick (Auburn University), Judy Shepard (Alabama Public Library Service), and Janet Hamilton (Alabama Public Library Service). NEW BUSINESS CUS Newsletter Mr. Webb will call Ms. Valente to see when the next issue of the CUS newsletter will be available. Refreshments Mr. Webb said he would ask if ALLA will pay for refreshments at CUS Executive Committee meetings. ANNOUNCEMENTS The deadline for the ALLA newsletter is today. ALLA membership forms will be available soon. The forms are being updated with the new ALLA address. There has been a suggestion that The Alabama Librarian be used to distribute convention information. Concern was expressed since some people don t receive The Alabama Librarian. Ms. Poe said that eventually convention registration and membership renewals will be online.

FUTURE MEETING DATE: The next meeting will be a working lunch on April 4, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. The suggested location is Pannera Grill in the Patton Creek shopping center in Hoover.
