ARC 2013.14 5 Attachment Unbound Medicine Nursing Central Annual Implementation Procedure Bemidji State University School of Nursing students (BSU) have the Unbound Medicine Nursing Central application as a clinical requirement in the Northwest Technical College and BSU nursing programs. It is not a requirement for the RN BSN program students but is available to those students. The following is the process for implementing the application with students. There is a difference in the process for students who come to campus (Practical Nursing - PN, Associate Degree - AD, four year and RN BSN) and those who are at satellite campuses who do not come to BSU/NTC campus. The way students are informed of downloading the application varies depending on whether the student comes to campus or not. NTC & BSU RN BSN Nursing Students Using both written instructions provided by Unbound Medicine and faculty demonstration: All campus-based students are assisted to download the software to their handheld device while on campus during orientation. o BSU RN BSN Transfer orientation in the beginning of fall semester o Four Year - Sophomore orientation at end of fall semester Distance students are guided to download the software in the same manner when on campus during their first visit to campus for laboratory activities. Any distance students who are unable to download the software during an on-site visit will be emailed the written instructions and video demonstration provided by Unbound Medicine. Codes for off campus download Off campus download of the software requires each student to have an individual access code provided by Unbound Medicine. These students will be identified by NTC program faculty. In collaboration with NTC/BSU administrative support, student name and email addresses will be provided to Unbound Medicine support staff. Unbound Medicine support staff will email individual access codes to the student. This will be initiated by in September by ARC IT Specialist. Four Year BSU Using both written instructions provided by Unbound Medicine and faculty demonstration: All four-year students in the fall of sophomore year will be assisted to download the software to their handheld device while on campus. This will be completed prior to the end of fall semester in Nursing 2203 Introduction to Clinical Practice. Registration and downloading instructions along with training videos for faculty and students are provided by Unbound Medicine. Links to the videos and related documents are available to faculty in the D2L Academic Resources Shell under Content. Faculty shall use these as resources for the classroom and online.
