Microsoft Windows XP Firewall 1) How to modify Microsoft Windows XP Firewall to prompt you for applications attempting to access your network and the internet. 1) Select Start, Run. Type wscui.cpl in the Open field on the Run dialog. 2) Select OK to open the Windows Security Center. 3) In the Manage Security settings for: area, select Windows Firewall. 4) On the General Tab, uncheck the check box for Don t allow exceptions.
5) On the Exceptions Tab, check the check box for Display a notification when Windows Firewall blocks a program.
6) Start the Peachtree Accounting program. If you are prompted to allow Peachtree to have access, select Unblock. You may have to repeat this to allow access for other applications and components used by Peachtree Software and its database, Pervasive Software. II. How to modify Microsoft Windows XP Firewall to allow Peachtree Accounting to access your network and the internet. 1) Select Start, Run. Type wscui.cpl in the Open field on the Run dialog. 2) Select OK to open the Windows Security Center. 3) In the Manage Security settings for: area, select Windows Firewall.
4) On the General Tab, uncheck the check box for Don t allow exceptions.
5) On the Exceptions Tab, select the Add Program button.
6) Select Peachtree Accounting from the Programs list and select OK.
7) In the Programs and Services area, check the check box next to Peachtree Accounting to allow it as an exception.
8) Repeat steps 1 7 for other applications and components used by Peachtree Software and its database, Pervasive Software. (For a list of processes to allow, see Answer ID 19139 titled What processes do I need to allow through my firewall to ensure that Peachtree will operate correctly? in the Sage Knowledgebase.). If the application you want to allow is not listed in the Programs and Services area, click Add Program. Select Browse and then browse to the directory for the application. (example: Peachtree Software Database Application Pervasive Software is installed at C:\PVSW and the application (w3dbsmgr.exe) is run from the path of C:\PVSW\Bin\, so you would browse to C:\PVSW\Bin and select the w3dbsmgr.exe file). Select Open. The application file you just selected (w3dbsmgr.exe) should now appear in the Programs and Services list (Database Service Manager in the picture above).
Note: Use this dialog to add the applications and components used by Peachtree Software and its database, Pervasive Software, to the exceptions list. 4) On the General Tab, uncheck the check box for Don t allow exceptions.
5) On the Exceptions Tab, check the check box next to Peachtree Accounting to allow it as an exception. 6) Select Peachtree Accounting and click the Edit button.
7) Select the Change Scope button. 8) Choose Any computer (including those on the Internet) and click OK.
9) Select OK to close the Edit a Program window. 10) Repeat steps 1 9 for other applications and components used by Peachtree Software and its database, Pervasive Software.
