Paul Burns Head Coach Paul Burns joined the Austin College staff in August 1995 to serve as the women s soccer programs first head coach when it was elevated to varsity level status in the fall of 1996. Burns has made a positive impact on the young program, as the Austin College women s soccer progam has posted a 170-105-24 overall record in his tenure and recently posted 14 straight winning seasons. The Kangaroos won four straight American Southwest Conference East Division titles (1999-2002), in addition to the first ever ASC Tournament title in 2000. The Austin College women s soccer program has also made two appearances in the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament (1999, 2000). A native of England, Burns received his bachelor s degree in sports science at the University of Staffordshire and completed his teaching certification at DeMontfort University. In 1995, Burns received a Masters degree in education from the University of Missouri with an emphasis in sports psychology and exercise science. While at Missouri, he was head coach for the Tigers men s soccer club team and also served as head soccer coach at Columbia s Stephens College. An accomplished soccer player, Burns was a member of the Staffordshire University team and was a member of the Staffordshire squad that reached the United Kingdom National Finals. Mark Hudson Head Coach Mark Hudson enters his sixth season at the helm of the Austin College men s soccer team after taking over the program in 2007. Hudson came to Austin College after having played and coached at Centre College. Hudson spent five seasons on the sideline for the Colonels. As an assistant, Hudson helped shape Centre into one of the top defensive teams in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with an overall record of 60-21-8. Prior to returning to his alma mater, Hudson spent one season at Washington and Lee University, where he helped lead the team to a regular season conference title. In addition, Hudson has coached on the club level in Kentucky and Colorado. As a player, Hudson led Centre to some of the most successful seasons in school history. As a junior, he captained the Colonels as they claimed their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance, a feat that was repeated the following year. Hudson, who is USSF and NSCAA certified, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Centre College and a Masters Degree in Sports Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University s SportsCenter. In addition, much of Hudson s unique approach to technical development comes from time spent with the coaching staff of Arsenal of the English Premier League.
