18 New 2015 Division-I Freshman Eligibility Requirements There are three possible Academic outcomes: 1. Full qualifier = scholarship, practice the first year and competition. 2. Academic redshirt = scholarship the first year, practice in first regular semester or quarter. 3. Nonqualifier = NO scholarship, NO practice and NO competition the first year.

19 Division I Academic Requirements Graduate from high school; Complete a minimum of 16 core courses; Present required GPA (sliding scale); Present qualifying score on ACT or SAT (sliding scale); and Complete amateurism questionnaire & request final amateurism certification.

26 Miscellaneous info Students should register with NCAA Eligibility Center during junior year CBE s may NOT be used for Core Courses A HS course taken in 8 th grade (Alg 1, Span 1) may be used if grade & credit are on student s high school transcript SAT/ACT scores must be reported directly to NCAA Elig Ctr using CODE 9999 on SAT or ACT registration form Can mix/match SAT or ACT scores to achieve best results Ex: use Math score from Oct SAT with CR score from Dec SAT

27 New Standards for Cohort 2015 Division I For student-athletes 1 st entering DI college/university Aug 1, 2015 or after Two ways to qualify: Full Qualifier: aid (scholarship) + practice + compete Academic Redshirt: may NOT compete in 1 st year aid (scholarship) + practice ONLY during 1 st semester must be academically successful at college to continue to practice for the rest of the year Nonqualifier: no athletic aid (scholarship), no practice, no compete in 1 st year of enrollment

28 Full Qualifier (DI Cohort 2015) Same 16 core courses as in past 10 of the 16 cores must be completed before the 7 th semester of HS 7 of the 10 cores must be English, math or science Minimum core-course GPA of 2.3 Grades earned in the 10 cores before 7 th semester are locked in for purposes of GPA calculation A repeat of a locked in course will not be used to improve GPA if taken after 7 th semester begins New Sliding Scale with increased GPA/test scores
