FINANCIAL REPORT for YAVUZ & SIBEL SERT and TURKISH CULTURAL FOUNDATION CHALLENGE GIFTS April 6 th May 20 th 2006 We greatly appreciate Yavuz and Sibel Sert s challenge gift of $5,000 and Cultural Foundation s challenge gift of $5,000 to Friends of Anatolia to support the renovation of Yildiztepe Elementary School. Chart 1: Challenge Gift Summary Gift Range Total Challenge Gifts Total Donation $5,000 2 $10,000 We are proud to announce that we were able to match each gift before their deadline on May 20, 2006 with a total of $19,264. This means that, including the two challenge gifts, Friends of Anatolia successfully raised a total of $29,264 in six weeks! In accordance with our program goals, we will do our best to use these donations wisely and to make the most out of it. Below is a breakdown of the funds raised between April 6 th and May 20 th to be matched by the two $5,000 challenge gifts that demonstrate the diversity of our donor base in this period. Overall we received donations from 112 households and three company matches. As of July 3, 2006, $1,795 remains as pledges from various individuals and company matches. The surplus $9,264 raised above the $10,000 combined challenge gift will not be matched unless Yavuz & Sibel Sert or the Cultural Foundation state otherwise. The $10,000 from the two challenge gifts will be utilized to renovate the Yildiztepe Elementary School in Duzce, Turkey. During this challenge period we raised funds from various sources and events (chart 4). The matching donations will be used in accordance with the purposes designated by the donors (chart 5). See the fiscal sponsorship agreement for further details. $1,250 is for the teacher scholarship project. The recipient this year is Mehmet Okur of Diyarbakir between April and September 2006. Other: Total of $7,569 The rest of the funds will be reserved for the other program goals of Friends of Anatolia, specifically for volunteerism and cultural projects. These include, but are not limited to, the Volunteer Center and its activities.
