2 ABOUT CONGRESS We convene in Istanbul, the capital of Health Tourism, on November 22 to 25, Turkey is located in a crucial spot with this perfect 10-year run in health, geographical and strategical positions, climate and its potential of 1 billion people surrounding and living at a 4-hour flight distance. The objective in health tourism for 2023 that is the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Turkish Republic is to attract 2 million international patients and generate an income of 20 billion USD. Our mission is to have Turkey lead the region in health tourism. The Health Tourism Association of Turkey keeps working for the past 8 years in order for Turkey to attain its position and ambitious objectives. Our health institutions need to provide a service at international standards in order for Turkey to lead the region in health tourism, and employ well-qualified human resource, internationally cooperate and exchange information and integrate with the rest of the world. This congress will gather all global stakeholders of the health tourism and enhance promotion, marketing activities and business deliberations. The main theme for the 6th International Health Tourism Congress is Quality, Branding, Sustainability and Human Resource in Health Tourism. A private session will be held on November 22, 2013 with regard to analysis for the free movement of patients within European Union. The session will be attended by a delegation composed of respective representatives of EU-member countries. We will discuss in a comprehensive fashion about how to have European people benefit from the health services of Turkey as a part of their insurance coverage. The 6th International Health Tourism Congress will be held on November 22 to 25, 2013 in İstanbul WOW Hotel. We expect a total of 600 participants as 200 foreign and 400 domestic ones from over 100 countries to attend the congress. Unlike past years, this time we will gather health institutions with an interest in health tourism, intermediary institutions and foreign authorities of the Ministries of Health around the world. The participation of foreign representation offices in Turkey will be more active. As the Health Tourism Association of Turkey, we expect your participation in the Congress to be held with the assistance of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Turkey, and to be attended by global parties of health tourism. I wish this annually-held congress will make major contributions to the endeavors of Turkey in health tourism, and have Turkey lead the region in health tourism, and promote well-being of the people in the region. Till when? Leadership is a pipe dream unless local authorities, universities and NGOs join forces... We expect to see parties concerned in health tourism in İstanbul to answer such questions,plan A roadmap and succeed in Turkey Are state aids for health tourism effectively utilized?
