In addition to offering the finest inpatient hospital care, Marianjoy is a leader in providing outpatient therapy and services throughout the greater Chicagoland area. Each Marianjoy Physical Therapy and Outpatient Services facility is specially equipped to accommodate all levels of physical rehabilitation. Full Spectrum of Rehabilitation Services Patients can receive physical, occupational, and speech therapy at any of the various Marianjoy outpatient sites, including the newly renovated Harry W. Kuhn Outpatient Pavilion located on the Wheaton campus. The expanded Outpatient Pavilion allows us to serve more adults and children in an environment that offers a safe, welcoming experience for all Marianjoy patients. Spacious state-of-the-art gyms, private treatment rooms, and a therapeutic garden are all designed to create a warm, healing environment. In addition to housing a wide variety of outpatient evaluation and treatment clinics, individuals may also benefit from additional services such as pain management, orthopedics, aquatic therapy, therapeutic golf, holistic medicine, and gait analysis. The Outpatient Pavilion is also home to the McCormick Tribune Day Rehabilitation Hospital which provides programs designed for patients with more complex needs. Day Rehabilitation patients receive integrative treatment plans including more than one type of therapy, as well as nursing and case management, all under the direction of a Marianjoy physician. The Day Rehabilitation Hospital also features areas that simulate a normal home environment, enabling patients to experiment with adaptive ways of performing functional daily living tasks such as meal preparation and personal hygiene. Caring Rehabilitation Specialists Each Marianjoy Physical Therapy and Outpatient Services facility is overseen by a Marianjoy boardcertified physiatrist (rehabilitation physician) who collaborates with therapists to ensure the best possible care. The team may also include physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, vocational rehabilitation specialists, nurses, case managers, and psychologists. Evaluation and treatment clinics include the following: Swallowing and Voice Center Advanced invasive and non-invasive techniques are used to evaluate and treat patients who are experiencing speaking and swallowing deficits. Balance and Vestibular Evaluation Clinic This specialized form of physical therapy improves balance, decreases dizziness, and minimizes falls by restoring vestibular function and postural control. Spasticity Clinic Specialized services and treatment for patients who have spasticity due to cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, stroke, spinal cord injury, or brain injury. Driver Rehabilitation This program provides driver assessment and behind-the-wheel evaluations and education for people with disabilities, teens, and older adults. It is also the only program in Illinois that includes a specialized low-vision program and is accredited as a commercial driving school. Lymphedema Prevention and Treatment Certified therapists provide education, treatment, and self-management training for patients who are affected by or at risk of developing lymphedema. Post Concussive Institute Individuals with dizziness, headaches, anxiety, or difficulty concentrating due to mild head trauma, concussion, or mild traumatic brain injury are treated by a comprehensive team of experts. Prosthetic and Orthotic Clinic A team of physicians, nurses, therapists and certified prosthetists and orthotists treat lower extremity amputees and individuals with orthotic needs. Pain Treatment Center The Marianjoy Integrative Pain Treatment Center is the only CARF accredited pain program in Illinois. A board-certified physiatrist with a specialty certification in pain management leads a team of trained clinicians to help patients manage chronic pain and improve their ability to function. Aquatic Therapy Aquatic therapy in our warm-water pool provides a variety of treatment outcomes including increased circulation, cardio-respiratory function, improved postural awareness, and balance. Visual Rehabilitation and Retraining This specialized area of occupational therapy screens for and treats visual deficits in people with post injury vision-related changes and progressive visual changes with symptoms. The goal is to improve the ability to organize visual information, compensate for visual limitations, and improve the ability to utilize functional vision for daily tasks. Pediatric Rehabilitation Marianjoy provides rehabilitative care to children from birth to 18 years of age who have physical or learning challenges due to illness, injury or congenital causes.
