1 Overview About This Guide Introduction Your Artromick software enables you to manage multiple carts from one workstation through wireless technology, instead of requiring you to have direct access to each cart to manage each cart individually. This guide describes how to install the Remote Management software and database on the workstation or network. This guide contains the following chapters: Documentation Conventions Overview: This chapter contains all of the requirements that you must meet before you can install the Remote Management software. Installing Remote Management Software: This chapter provides the procedures for installing the Remote Management software and database using the installation wizard. Uninstalling Remote Management Software: This chapter provides the procedures for uninstalling the RMS Proxy, Remote Management software, and database. This document uses different type styles to indicate elements of the Remote Management software. The following table describes the conventions. Bold Type Indicates o A selection that you are instructed to complete by typing the word or phrase in the software text boxes o A selection that you are instructed to make or clear from either a drop-down list or radio button when you are working with the Remote Management software Italics Used for emphasis or to cross reference topics that contain additional information. 2009 Artromick Proprietary + Confidential -7-

Overview Introduction to Remote Management Software Capabilities The Remote Management software enables you to read and write information to and from the cart and to wirelessly manage the cart settings and user settings from one location. The benefits of using the Remote Management software include: The ability to manage multiple carts while making changes only one time instead of on each cart individually. Increased speed in performing tasks, such as adding users and changing cart settings. Improved security by enabling faster updates to carts and user settings. Greater flexibility enabled by wireless technology to make updates. Use of groups to enable greater management over large numbers of carts. After the software is installed and set up, administrators can connect wirelessly to the carts to retrieve user, cart setting, and event data. Administrators can also use the software to change, add, or delete users and cart settings and then apply (write) any data changes to the cart. The Remote Management software has the following capabilities: Capacity for 10,000 users in the database Capacity for 200 carts in the database Multiple cart-access authentication options (access code, bar code, and magnetic strip support) Cart grouping capabilities for easier management Automatic audit updates to database from the carts Importing user and cart settings into the database Exporting user and cart settings from the database Printing user settings, cart settings, and log files Support for different configurations of carts (All-In-One, Laptop, or wireless antenna) 2009 Artromick Proprietary + Confidential -8-

Overview System Requirements Wireless Network The following are minimum system requirements that your computers must meet to install the different components of the Remote Management software. Check the system requirements and verify that you systems meet the requirements before installing any components. The wireless network must be compliant with the following cart configurations: RMS Proxy Requirements All-In-One cart configuration IEEE 802.11 (a, b, or g) compliant Laptop cart configuration IEEE 802.11 (a, b, or g) compliant Wireless antenna cart configuration IEEE 802.11b compliant To install and run the RMS Proxy, the computer must meet the following minimum requirements: Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4, or Windows XP SP2 Pentium 4 or higher processor VGA or higher resolution screen supported by Microsoft Corporation 50 KB disk space to install the software 32 MB of RAM An open serial port (COM 1 through COM 8 are supported) A mouse or other pointing device Requirements To install and run the Remote Management software, the computer must meet the following minimum requirements: Windows 2000 SP4, or Windows XP SP2 Pentium 4 or higher processor VGA or higher resolution screen supported by Microsoft Corporation 65 MB disk space to install the software 32 MB of RAM A mouse or other pointing device Database System Requirements To install and run the MSSQL database, the computer must meet the following minimum requirements: Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition; Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition; Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition; Windows 2000 Server; Windows 2000 Advanced Server; Windows 2000 Datacenter Server; Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (SP4); or Windows XP Service Pack 4.0 (SP4). 2009 Artromick Proprietary + Confidential -9-

Overview Pentium 166 MHz or higher processor VGA or higher resolution screen supported by Microsoft Corporation 95 to 270 MB disk space to install the database (250 MB for a typical installation) 44 MB disk space to install the Microsoft Desktop Engine (MSDE 2000) Additional disk space depending on the size of your database. 64 MB of RAM 128 MB or more recommended A mouse or other pointing device Information Requirements Before You Begin Installation You must have the following information available prior to starting the installation: Static IP addresses of the carts on which you are going to install the RMS Proxy. Static IP address of the server on which you are installing the database. IP address of the computer on which you are installing the Remote Management software. If you are installing the SQL database in an existing SQL installation, you must have an existing SQL username and password with SA permissions to complete the database installation. Database Requirements and Considerations The following requirements and considerations are important to your database installation: You are setting up a complete database structure that has a database engine as part of the install. The database engine must be installed on a computer that acts as a server on your network and the database application makes several connections to this server. If you are working with a large installation, you may need to run the database on a T-SQL compatible database engine such as MS SQL, instead of the provided MSDE. The Remote Management software does not support a PL-SQL compatible database engine such as Oracle. If you use MSDE, you must install a specific instance of MSDE. This will be done for you if you use the auto installation using the name Artromick. You can install the Remote Management software on the same computer on which you are installing the Remote Management software database. If you follow this installation configuration, keep in mind that you are setting up SQL database engine that will be running on your network and this database engine appears as a Microsoft SQL server. The database computer must be on the same network as the wireless carts. 2009 Artromick Proprietary + Confidential -10-
