Core requirements: Composition, Quantitative Literacy, American Institutions, and Computer & Information Literacy. Breadth requirements: Humanities and Creative Arts, Social Sciences, and Physical Sciences and Life Sciences. To enroll in ENGL 1010, you must have either earned ACT English and Reading scores of 17 or higher within the past 24 months, completed ENGL 0955 with a grade of C or better, completed ESL 2510 with a grade of C or better (for nonnative English speakers), or earned sufficient Accuplacer scores within the past 12 months. ENGL 0955 has a prerequisite of an appropriate ACT score within the past 24 months, a grade of C or better in ENGL 0900 or an appropriate Accuplacer score within the past 12 months. For possible placement into a higher-level course, you may take the Reading Comprehension and Sentence Skills Accuplacer exams (placing as high as ENGL 1010 with Accuplacer). Non-native English speakers must take the ESL Accuplacer Reading Skills and Language Usage exams.
