1 Johnson County Community College Transfer Program to the University of Kansas School of Education Sport Science, BSE - Sport Management Emphasis Catalog CONTACT: Sonja Heath, Senior Advising Coordinator PHONE: (785) soheath@ku.edu HOME PAGE: The Associate of Arts degree (A.A.) at JCCC is a general transfer degree and partners well with the first two years of most bachelor degree programs. Students pursuing the A.A. may select courses that satisfy both the A.A. degree requirements and lower division requirements for a bachelor s degree at four-year institutions. The elective hours within the A.A. allows students to complete additional general education and lower division courses required for specific majors. The A.A. degree requires completion of 64 credit hours, the maximum number of hours from a community college that will be applied toward a bachelor s degree at most four-year schools. Meeting with a JCCC counselor is strongly recommended for selection of appropriate courses Admission for all School of Education programs is competitive. Completion of minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Minimum cumulative and core GPAs of 2.75 (includes all transfer hours). Effective Fall 2014, transfer grades of D or below will not be accepted A minimum of hours required for admission to the School of Education. Consult a School of Education advisor for enrollment and course substitution. Deadlines for all applications are February 3 for fall admission and September 16 for spring admission. The Sport Management program prepares individuals to seek management-related positions in collegiate and professional sports, companies that manufacture and sell sporting equipment, and in commercial, corporate, and private fitness facilities and companies. Admission Requirements must be taken during or completed prior to the Exercise Science application process. Sixty-four credits may be transferred to KU from community colleges. Students should be aware that 45 junior/senior credit hours are required for completion of the bachelor s degree; 30 of those hours must be at KU; and community college courses do not transfer as junior/senior hours. Transfer students who begin in the Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 semesters have until July 31, 2015 to opt out of the KU Core requirements. After that, they may not opt out. Transfer students who begin in the Summer 2015 term have until December 31, 2015 to opt out. Transfer students who begin in Fall 2015 and beyond will not be able to opt out of the KU Core.
