No other combination of versions of these components is supported. : NetVault Version 7.4 Required to Successfully Perform Incremental Backups to a Client-Attached Device (i.e., a NetVault SmartClient) - If running a version of NetVault that is pre-7.4, and using a Client-attached device (i.e., a NetVault SmartClient), when an Incremental backup is run, the job will not run as an Incremental, but as a Full backup. This can be resolved in one of the following two ways: End User Release Notes - Netware Thin Client Plugin System for Linux Kernel Page 2 of 5
Locally Attach the Backup Device to the NetVault Server (instead of attaching it to the NetWare Client as a SmartClient). Upgrade to NetVault Version 7.4 - Incremental backups will run as such, regardless of the device type targeted for the backup (i.e., Client-attached or Server-attached). : Error Message Plugin Died Unexpectedly Revealed when Accessing a Linux-based NetWare Client - If no password is input in the associated field of the Open Thin Client Support or Add Thin Client windows, the NetWare Thin Client Plugin will terminate abnormally; however operation will be normal when a valid password is entered. Linux-based NetWare Clients will encounter this error if no password is established in NetWare (i.e., ensure that a valid password exists for NetWare on the target Linux machine and input this password when adding/accessing this machine as a Thin Client). : Issue with Data Copy Plugin Backups of NetWare Thin Client Full/Incremental Backup Series - When a Data Copy Plugin backup is set up for a NetWare Thin Client Plugin backup, and the Automatically Get a Set s Last Full Backup option is enabled in the Backup Options tab, NetVault will target the actual last backup performed for the data copy, regardless if that last backup was a Full or Incremental backup (i.e., the Automatically Get a Set s Last Full Backup option sees all NetWare Thin Client Plugin backups as Full backups). : When Running NetWare 6.5 Service Pack 3, Support for Alternate Filenames in the MAC Name Space is Disabled - This is due to a fault in the NetWare NSS file system. Support for MAC names is enabled in all other versions of NetWare, and so will automatically be enabled once Service Pack 4 is applied. : NetVault Fails to Restore NDS Entries That Appear Below a Country Code Entry - This issue will occur when restoring using an NLM prior to the 3.05b NLM (e.g., 3.03g). The problem is caused by a lack of functionality in the earlier releases of NLM and is resolved by the 3.05b release. : Restores with the Rename/Relocate Functionality Result in Status of Completed with Warnings - The problem occurs if you select to restore a parent directory (and all children), and then try to relocate a child of that directory to a location that does not already exist. The required restore item can be restored by manually creating the required directory structure. : Restores with the Overwrite Existing File System Items Option Enabled Result in Status of Completed with Warnings - This issue only applies to restores of NetWare 6.0 SP5 data. There is currently no known workaround for this issue. : Restore Job Reveals Log Entry Stating Failed to Restore NDS Object - -628 - This problem has only been seen with NetWare 6.0 SP5 (5.1 and 6.5 work normally). The Novell backup tool, sbcon also exhibits the same fault so the problem is believed to be an issue with NetWare 6.0 SP5 rather than NetVault. : Backup of Deeper Directory Paths - NetVault: Backup fails to backup extended attributes and trustee information on any directory paths deeper than 119 levels. : Backup of Longer Directory Paths - NetVault: Backup fails to backup extended attributes and trustee information on any path longer than 255 characters. This section documents known issues that have been corrected with this release of the NetWare Thin Client Plugin System components: NetWare Thin Client Plugin : There were no faults fixed for this component with this release of the plugin. Client nlm Component for Novell NetWare 4.0 - Fault Fixes Fault Number NNG-27 In version 3.05b, the NETVAULT.NLM allocated more and more memory each day until this finally causes an incremental backup to fail. The memory leak has been resolved in v3.05c 5.0 - About BakBone Software BakBone Software is a leading data recovery solution provider that develops and globally distributes data backup, restore, and disaster recovery software for network storage environments.
