3 Introduction Introduction SSL Network Extender R71 provides a secure connectivity framework for remote access to a corporate network, using a thin client installed on the user s remote machine that connects to an SSL-enabled web server. The web server and the client are in the same VPN; connecting over SSL provides another layer of security. 5 Installation Installation In This Section Installing the Client page 5 Updating the SNX Version on the Gateway page 5 Restoring the Original SNX Version page 5 Installing the Client To install the client on Windows, download Check_Point_SNX_R71_For_Windows_ msi and run it. Updating the SNX Version on the Gateway This release also includes a gateway supplement which updates the SSL Network Extender version on the gateway. This version adds support for 64-bit platforms, and does not add any new functionality for 32-bit platforms. Since upgrading the client may require the user to reboot his machine, and gives no new functionality for existing users, we recommend setting the SNX upgrade mode to No Upgrade after replacing the SNX files on the gateway. VPN-1 R65 Gateway To update the SNX version on the gateway: 1. Backup the $FWDIR/conf/extender/CSHELL directory: 2. Download the Check_Point_SNX_R71_VPN-1_Gateway_Files.tgz file. 3. Extract the file to the $FWDIR/conf/extender/CSHELL directory. 4. Install a policy on the gateway. Connectra Gateway To update the SNX version on the gateway: 1. Backup the $CVPNDIR/htdocs/SNX/CSHELL directory. 2. Download the Check_Point_SNX_R71_Connectra_Gateway_Files.tgz file. 3. Extract the file to the $CVPNDIR/htdocs/SNX/CSHELL directory. 4. Install a policy on the gateway. Restoring the Original SNX Version To revert back to the original SNX version, restore the files you backed up in step 1 of the above procedures. 6 Known Limitations Known Limitations Proxy Replacement does not take effect on new tabs opened from the currently open Internet Explorer 7 64bit. Workaround: Open a new browser window after connecting. Proxy Replacement changes are applied FireFox on Vista 64bit sometimes fails to run Java Applets.
