SolutionIP High Speed Internet Software Mobile Internet and Email Access Patron and Guest Experience 100% Reliability Our experience with SolutionIP is flawless, it has always been there for our [time share] owners we have exceeded their expectations and that is everything. Director, Ritz Carlton Club Aspen Highlands Support and Partnership I don t need them that often, but when I do, SolutionInc is there for you the service component is critical. General Manager, Radisson Suites Hotel Business travelers want the ability to turn on their wireless laptop or plug in and be on the Internet and their Corporate Network in just two or three clicks. No reconfiguring, No network changes, No software to download or install. Property owners want to offer guests new services to enhance their visit and to build loyal customers. They require proven 100% reliable self-provisioning software that needs no interaction from the front desk. SolutionIP is feature rich and flexible in functionality that will help properties provide these services. Plug and Play Access CONNECTIVITY A Web page takes users through simple steps to register and connect within seconds, without reconfiguration of network or proxy settings. Users can be presented with a number of service offerings and they can self-provision with a simple point and click, connecting to the Internet without assistance. SolutionIP seamlessly connects all network enabled laptop and/or PDA users with the Internet and their Corporate networks. SolutionIP supports both DHCP and static IP clients, proxy configured browsers, VPNs, and email redirection. Value to the Business: SolutionIP simplifies the user s experience; it is easy for them to connect to the Internet and their Corporate email and VPN s. Once connected, the patron can send and receive email as if they were in their office. There are no changes required for connection; therefore no setting changes to make when the user returns to the office. Because client software is not required and there are no changes to the PC, the property owner is not liable for any damages or changes the patron makes to the PC. There is no administering, provisioning or managing of the software at the front desk or the property office. Using SolutionIP, the High Speed Internet Access service (HSIA) offering is managed by the guest. The property collects revenue for the service through the payment of access cards, through the room bill, or credit card and the guest registers him/herself for the service. Real IP Real IP is a publicly addressable IP address and this feature is supported in the product. It gives property managers the ability to offer a premium service for users that want a public (routable) IP address. Real IP enables users who are using VPN clients to work as if they were in their offices, securely accessing office networks and files via their secure VPN. The system allows these Real IPs to co-exist with masqueraded IP addresses so property managers or service providers can offer this service without a significant investment, while conserving valuable IP addresses and still guaranteeing VPN connectivity. SolutionIP allows the client to decide what type of IP address they require. Public addresses are required for some Internet applications such as Web servers, videoconferencing, and VPN connections. - 1 -
Property Experience Easy to use and Administer, does not require adding IT support My staff thinks SolutionIP TM is great. It doesn t take up their time and doesn t take them away from their primary jobs. General Manager, Holiday Inn Express Value to the Business: Business travelers requiring a public IP address can connect to their corporate VPN and work as if they were in their office. By offering Real IP service any VPN configuration will work seamlessly for users. Properties offering this service will generate loyal business customers who will continue to return to a specific property that offers Real IP. Many properties promote they offer HSIA; however, only properties running SolutionIP can self-provision Real IP giving them full VPN capability. Real IP offers the property the ability to establish a new revenue opportunity by charging a premium for this service. Additionally, the property can market the service as a means to differentiate themselves. The property can continue to offer a base level of service for free, and offer access to corporate networks. For example, a property could charge $10.00 per day for regular service and $10.00 per day for Real IP (Corporate VPN business user). Additionally, Real IP also allows other services such as running a web server or video conferencing from a guest system. Seamless Email Handling SolutionIP enables users to send and receive email as if they were on their home or corporate networks without changing their email settings. Value to the Business: The service fulfills expectations. 86% of travelers opt for high speed Internet services for the ability to check their email and respond to it (Cahers In-Stat Group). Many visitor-based software solutions allow guests to receive mail, but not to send mail without system changes. Seamless corporate email handling can be marketed as a differentiator. Guests who are able to receive and instantaneously send email will become loyal to a property. For example, a guest is more productive if he/she stays at a property that allows them to send out email as it is written as opposed to waiting until they return to the office. Satisfied, productive guests stay longer, visit more frequently and return to the property for the service. With SolutionIP installed, guest email functions properly with no client system changes, thereby eliminating related support costs. Additionally, multiple email addresses are supported simultaneously: Hotmail and Corporate. Location Based Authentication and Features SolutionIP identifies the location of guest traffic. This feature allows automatic room based billing based on guest location which means the property has the flexibility to offer different service options (i.e. different prices, forced portals, etc.) to different locations within a property. Value to the Business: This feature allows properties to bill Internet charges directly to the room or specific location. For example, a guest can go to their room, register to use the service, and the front desk does not have to be involved. This feature allows you to differentiate services in various areas. - 2 -
BILLING SolutionIP features multiple billing and payment options, providing flexibility and choice for property owners and their guests. Time Based Billing Scaleable, Flexible, Interoperable As the Manager of Information Systems and Telecommunications for the Exhibition Place grounds, I needed a scaleable and reliable enterprise system that could manage the High Speed Internet service for us twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. SolutionIP Enterprise allows us to offer our 5 million annual visitors a true 24x7 High Speed Internet service. SolutionIP Enterprise manages the entire service for us, we haven t had to add IT staff and the performance is flawless. Manager of Information Systems and Telecommunications for the Exhibition Place Grounds, National Trade Center SolutionIP allows properties to bill by the minute, hour, day, week, month, year or decade - whatever parameters the property desires. Blocks of time can be set (in minutes) as a service period. Alternatively, users can be charged incrementally on a per minute basis. For example, you can set the HSIA service for $0.10 per minute, 30 minutes for $3.00 or 24 hours for $10.00. The system is completely flexible. Value to Business: Flexible billing options are controlled by the property. The guest chooses the option that best suits their needs without interaction with property staff. Usage Based Billing Properties have the option to bill by amount of Megabytes used and can offer different pricing options at different times of the day. For example, you can set up the service for $0.10 per Megabyte during the day and $0.90 during peak evening hours. Value to the Business: If the Internet Service Provider (ISP) charges the property by the Megabyte, the Usage Based Billing feature will allow the property to charge the end user according to their actual use. Credit Card Authentication Credit card authorization enables users to charge the service to their credit card. The system accepts all major credit cards including VISA, MasterCard, Diners Club, and American Express. The acceptance of credit cards depends on the credit card authorization service the property uses. When configured for credit card authentication, SolutionIP will route credit information and charges securely to an Internet based transaction server for processing (i.e. Verisign, authorize.net, etc.). The SolutionIP system receives an approved or denied message in reply. Credit card information is not stored on the SolutionIP server to protect client card information. Users easily enter their credit card information, the transaction is authorized, and the funds are automatically transferred to the property Internet merchant account. Value to the Business: Credit card service makes it easy for the guest to purchase the service and easy for the property to offer it. There is no user interaction required with property staff - fees for the service are easily collected and deposited into the property s assigned account. RADIUS Support RADIUS support provides centralized account based authentication, permitting property owners the ability to offer brand-wide sales to major corporations and organizations. RADIUS manages customer accounts through user ids and passwords. SolutionIP can act as a RADIUS client node and forward user ids and passwords to the RADIUS server for authentication. If there are multiple SolutionIP sites across the same brand, this feature allows hoteliers or property managers to use the same authentication information (username/password) at all participating sites. (*RADIUS stands for Remote - 3 -
Authentication Dial In User Service.) Support and Partnership SolutionIP is a Godsend. It solves technical problems with getting patrons on the High Speed Internet Service without us having to touch or reconfigure their computers. We have three branches and one IT person SolutionIP transparently manages the service for us. Assistant Director for Technology, Brookline Public Library Value to the Business: Supporting RADIUS fosters customer satisfaction, loyalty programs, repeat customers, and higher take rates. Guests and patrons can travel from one site to another and benefit from having one user id and password. For example, a hotel chain can set up a loyalty program for guests who travel between properties. Specifically, one access code can be used across a chain at all ABC hotels, at all DEF restaurants, etc. Additionally, the property can establish a corporate program for bulk sales of Internet access, i.e. Hotel chain ABC offers a discount to all employees from corporation DEF. Flexibility is built in. For example, the property can use multiple employee numbers for a corporate account, a rewards account, or a frequent guest program. Prepaid Access Codes Users purchase an access code that is valid for predefined services and time. Once registered, a user can move from one room - or port - to another and the system will recognize the user s unique MAC address and not re-bill the user. For conference or meeting rooms, access codes can be generated for each port preventing fraudulent use. Wireless users can also use prepaid codes to obtain network access. Specific levels of service associated with the access code can be set up by blocks of time, service levels, bandwidth and/or type of IP address. Access codes are designed for environments where the guest will pay for the service at a desk or counter and receive a specific level of service. Value to the Business: Prepaid access codes promote point of sale billing and are an alternative to credit card billing for properties that wish to have cash transactions. Access codes are most commonly used in transient locations, like a hotel lobby or a conference room. Location Based Access Codes This feature is an optional additional level of security that can be applied to any port. Properties may want to restrict access to a specific port by implementing this feature. For example, this additional level of security may be needed in a hotel conference room, a business centre or a lobby that is not secure. A subscriber can register for service with an access code without physically being in the room. Billing for the service to the guest s room still functions normally. Value to the Business: Location based codes give the property the ability to customize and control system access. PMS Integration SolutionIP integrates with Property Management Systems (PMS) allowing the charges for HSIA to appear on the guest s folio. The guest simply selects the service when registering for the service and SolutionIP posts the charges directly to the room folio via the PMS. This ensures that charges for HSIA usage appears on the guest s bill. The system supports all major PMS vendor interfaces including, but not limited to, MicrosFidelio (1 Way and 2 Way), Springer Miller Systems, Hilton, HOBIC, HIS, Galaxy, and Hitachi. Value to the Business: Interfacing to the PMS provides an integrated solution for the property. No interaction with property staff is required; therefore there can be no mistakes from human error. This eliminates the front desk from having to post HSIA charges to the guest s bill, thus providing a completely automated system. - 4 -
2 Way PMS Integration Flexible Interoperable We invested a significant amount of time and effort looking for the right high speed Internet solution for our customers. Our goal was to identify a reputed, feature-rich and reliable solution that has a true integration with the Micros-Fidelio PMS, and we found more than what we desired from SolutionInc. The twoway interface between Micros-Fidelio s PMS and SolutionIP TM is a unique feature that no other company is able to offer. Manager, Hospitality Division, Saudico Electronic Systems In addition to posting charges to the folio, a 2 way PMS integration allows group discounts and customization of greetings, while supplying the guest with on-line billing information. 2 Way PMS integration allows SolutionIP server to pull data from the PMS database. This enables additional features such as: Check In/Check Out Status: All traffic can be blocked until a room has been checked in. This means that until a guest has registered with the front desk, no one else (i.e. an unauthorized user, a housekeeper, or property staff) can use the service. Folio Review: This feature allows the guest to view their current hotel charges online. Discount: This feature allows the property to apply discounts to Internet charges based on PMS settings. Name Lookup: This feature allows the property to retrieve guest information from the PMS database. With this feature enabled, a property can automatically customize a registration page for each guest. For example, if Jane Doe checks in at the front desk, the welcome message she receives from the server can be tailored to read, Welcome to the property Jane. Value to the Business: Billing flexibility, automation, customer segmentation, and personalization of service enhances the guest s experience with the service and the property. 2 way PMS allows the property to offer convenience to the guest and personalize the guest s experience. MARKETING TOOLS AND OPPORTUNITIES Bandwidth Tailoring SolutionIP s bandwidth tailoring can deliver different speed and pricing combinations with no reconfiguration or network management. Users can, in turn, select from the service levels offered with a simple point and click command, lowering support costs and helping to reduce network congestion. Value to the Business: Controlling LAN usage allows the property to charge a premium rate based on bandwidth usage. A property may choose to give the HSIA service away, offering it as an amenity, or it may be forced to offer it as an amenity because the competition does. Whichever the case, with bandwidth tailoring, the property can give away the base speed and still charge a premium for faster service. Multi-language Support SolutionIP supports multiple languages for the user interface. Users can access the system in their own language. Value to the Business: The property and/or organization has the ability to provide local language support anywhere in the world, thus offering more choice and convenience to its patrons. Portal Push SolutionIP directs users to a local registration page when they launch their browser to connect to the Internet. Once the user has registered, they are directed to a portal - 5 -
(website) designated by the property owner. Each network port in the property can have a different portal pushed to the end user, or every port can be set up with the same portal, allowing complete flexibility in delivering content to the user. Simple to Manage and Offer Service It has been a breeze it is easy to offer clients this service. I would recommend this to other marinas. Manager, Crates Marina Specific content is sent to a specific user based on physical location. For example, if the user is in the science section of the library, the portal page can feature science information or if the user is in the concession area at an exhibition center, food specials can be featured on their portal page. Value to the Business: From a marketing point of view, a property could engage local businesses to participate in this service by buying advertising space. By allowing each port to have a different portal, the property can send specific messages to their patrons. For instance, if guests are in the lobby they can be directed to a web page that advertises the gift shop, daily specials in the restaurant, etc; if the guest is in their room, the hotel can advertise various other amenities of the property. Re-Forced Portal Push SolutionIP s re-forced portal push enables properties to re-direct users to the property s portal. For example, if the guest s computer is idle for a period of time and they begin using it again, they can be re-directed to the portal that is designated for that port. By setting intervals, the property can control how often the client will see the forced portal. Value to the Business: The property can ensure that the user sees specific web pages and specific content. Walled Garden With this unique feature, property owners can offer users a group of websites to browse for free without registration. Up to 200 web sites can be configured for free access. For example, a property may allow guests to view the web sites of local businesses and attractions without requiring registration for Internet service. Value to the Business: Advertising from local businesses who are part of the walled garden provides an additional revenue stream for the property. Allowing patrons the ability to try the service may increase the number of guests who subscribe. Web-based Administration ADMINISTRATION Secure web-based administration screens enable property management to review functionality, generate reports, customize the end user interface, and manipulate rates and services to create added value for users. Value to the Business: The system is easy to customize and does not require an IT professional to administer the system - local property staff can administrate. Advanced GUI System Management and Configuration Tools For the provider of the HSIA, SolutionIP offers browser-based setup, configuration and installation tools via a secure web site. - 6 -
Automates Service Offering We wanted a system that would take as little configuration as possible so we wouldn t have to add to our IT department (of one person). SolutionIP automates our High Speed Offering I have very little day to day involvement with it. IT Director, Wellesley Free Library Value to the Business: It allows management of multiple sites from a single remote location. Configuration, management, and troubleshooting can easily be completed from a remote location minimizing administration and management costs, installation costs, and reducing support costs. For example, one administrator can manage multiple systems across the Southern US from his/her office in Chicago. Online Maintenance and Upgrades With SolutionIP properties can provide simple, cost-effective, and secure maintenance online to ensure minimal downtime. New features, incremental version upgrades, and changes can be deployed remotely if requested. Maintenance and troubleshooting can also be performed remotely. Patches and updates are applied automatically, providing the highest level of system security and uptime. Value to the Business: Online maintenance and upgrading ensures that support costs and downtime are minimal, and the system is secure. Network Interoperability The service provider has flexibility in physical infrastructure (Ethernet, wireless, xdsl, and cable) and in choice of networking vendor. SolutionIP Server Software supports integration with a wide variety of networks and also supports all common user platforms including Windows, Linux, UNIX, and MAC. LAN Services LAN Services permanently registers network devices on the SolutionIP server. Corporate servers and administrative workstations can coexist on the same physical network that is used by guests. Value to the Business: This enables organizations to share the same infrastructure (same wiring and same switches) to offer multiple distinct services. For example, corporate LAN in the property office and also a separate visitor network to patrons. LAN reduces capital expense and infrastructure cost because you can share the infrastructure and it also maximizes the use of your Internet connection and the property s pipe. Smart UPS Support Supports common Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS). Value to the Business: Smart UPS Support enhances reliability, ensuring minimal downtime, and provides protection against power fluctuations. - 7 -
SECURITY Security = Privacy and Liability Protection The advantages of Absolute Plug and Play using Solution IP no download of other software, no liability as an operator, we are not going to give guests a virus or put anything on their laptops. Owner, Staybridge Suites Without authentication software like SolutionIP, you leave your wireless or wired network open to the public leaving you vulnerable, exposed and liable. SolutionIP prevents unauthorized access to an organization s network. Installing SolutionIP between your LAN and your Internet connection prevents unauthorized Internet access. Customers connecting to your network can be forced to authenticate using an access code, credit card, or user name and password before gaining Internet access. The start time and details about their computer system are logged. Value to the Business: Without authorization or authentication software an intruder could easily access the public community Wi-Fi network or the Wi-Fi network in your private property, download illegal music or pornography and/or send thousands of email without the service provider or network administrator being able to track who they are. Using SolutionIP software you can track information about the users computer that, in turn, can be used to identify and potentially block them from future access. Using SolutionIP and Real IP, you can pinpoint exactly who the user is. Spam Control SolutionIP has a unique feature that can limit the number of emails a guest can send during a session. Value to the Business: This prevents the system from being used as an Email SPAM relay, ensuring that the HSIA is not abused. Location Based Authentication and Features SolutionIP identifies the location of guest traffic. This feature allows automatic room based billing based on guest location which means the property has the flexibility to offer different service options (such as different prices, speeds, forced portals, etc.) to different locations within a property.
