Upload Your Culminating Project to The Repository at St. Cloud State University There are two parts to uploading your culminating project (starred paper, thesis, or dissertation) to The Repository at St. Cloud State University: 1. Creating a personal account 2. Uploading your project 1. Create a personal account To create your account, navigate to the series for your culminating project, e.g., Culminating Projects in English. a. First, on main page, click Research unit, center, or department b. On following screen, click on Expand All, then look for your Department and select the Culminating Projects series for that department (e.g., as shown below for Culminating Projects in English ).
c. Click on Submit Research in to left navigation menu:
d. Click on the Sign up button to Create new account: e. Complete each field marked with an asterisk (*). Because you will receive monthly reports of the number of downloads your contribution receives, use an email address that you will use after you graduate. Please add St. Cloud State University as your institution.
f. You will receive an email at the address associated with your account confirming your registration. To upload your culminating project, you may now return to My Account and login using the email address and password used in creating your account. 2. Upload your culminating project a. Enter TITLE of thesis or dissertation b. Enter full NAME of author. After you have created your account, your type your last name in the Search box; once it appears, click on your name and it will populate the rest of the author data. c. Expected date of award (e.g., date of degree completion; select month and enter year) d. Culminating Project Type (select from the following choices: thesis, dissertation, starred paper, creative work or Plan C Paper ). The majority of project types for Master s degrees will be thesis.
e. Degree Name: select the program name for your degree from the dropdown menu of options; for example, Education Administration and Leadership: MS or Higher Education Administration: MS. The options for degree name are restricted to those available through the department or program. f. Department: this is not the program, but the department through which the program is offered g. First Advisor: this is usually your thesis/dissertation supervisor h. Second Advisor, Third Advisor, and Fourth Advisor are members of your thesis or dissertation committee other that your thesis/dissertation supervisor. The Fourth Advisor is only required for dissertation committees.
i. Creative Commons License helps you to retain copyright control while allowing others to copy, distribute, or make some use of your work so long as they credit you. The most restrictive license, commonly used for culminating projects, is Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works, and is the default. Change only if you understand the other license options. j. Keywords and Subject Headings: you may enter up to six keywords (individual words or phrases), separated by commas. This improves indexing and retrieval of your thesis or dissertation. You do not need to be concerned about Subject Headings; these will be added by library staff. k. Abstract: copy and paste the full text of the abstract as it appears in your thesis or dissertation. If you are submitting a starred paper or creative work, you will need to provide an appropriate description of the culminating project in lieu of an abstract.
l. Add a comment or acknowledgement. A typical comment is to an article or conference presentation based in whole or in part on the research represented in the culminating project. A typical acknowledgement recognizes the mentoring or contribution of a professor or colleague. m. OCLC Number: This is a control number created by the library to uniquely identify your deposit. You do not need to be concerned about this number. n. An Embargo Period, which denies public access to your deposit, may be appropriate for selected culminating projects. The Graduate School has adopted an embargo policy [URL?] and embargo request process [URL for form?]. This field should only be changed with prior approval from the Graduate School
o. Click the button for Upload file from your computer. Then click on Choose File and locate the document for your culminating project on your computer or drive, and select. The file name will appear in place of No file chosen make sure you have selected the correct version of your culminating project. p. If you have supplemental files that are not included in the body of your culminating project, such as research data (Excel files), image, video or audio files, please check the Additional Files box. Another submission screen will allow you to upload additional files. q. Finally, click Submit and you are done. This does not publish your culminating project it will not be available until final review is complete and the Graduate School accepts your project. You will receive an email when your submission is published and available online. Within ten days of publication, your culminating project will be indexed in Google Scholar. Shortly after the first of the month following publication, you will begin receiving usage reports indicating the number of times your thesis was downloaded the preceding month.
