000 Overview of Admissions Page 1: End of Cycle This page contains four charts that provide a snapshot of information provided in detail in other reports (described below) Applications by year shows the number of applications over a number of years including the numbers of applications to date for the current cycle. Offers by year shows the number of offers over a number of years including the numbers of offers made to date for the current cycle. Accept by year Displays the distribution of grades used to make admission decisions for students who have accepted our offer. One line is shown for each year presented. Accepts to target Shows two head count targets (one for start of term and one for the November ERE count) and number of acceptances for each year. Notes The prompts on the left can be used to filter the information displayed (e.g. select a Faculty) Target is available from Academic Year 2007 to Academic Year 2010 and only for Fall: note that this information is also covered in What s in Domain Admission EDW: Domain Admissions Page 13
Page 2: Year over Year The Year over Year report consists of five graphs that compare measures at a specific date in the current period to the same date a year earlier. Together these graphs provide a quick view into how we are doing compared to the same point in the admissions cycle in the previous year. The four graphs are Highest Application Changes by Choice showing percentage change from Last Year in the highest choice application (i.e. if an applicant applies to more than one program at York only their highest choice counted) to York by Faculty and by choice (from 1st to 5th or greater). Highest Offer Changes by Choice showing percentage change from Last Year in highest offers given by Faculty and by the applicant choice. Accept Changes by Choice showing percentage change from Last Year in acceptances by Faculty and by applicant choice. Target by Year showing direct entry intake targets EDW: Domain Admissions Page 14
300 Targets Page 1: Target by Faculty This summary report shows details of targets for a given period. Targets are shown by Faculty broken down by domestic/international and by 101/105. Categories are shown for both first year and upper year though only first year targets are currently established. Both first year and upper year targets have been captured Notes Target data is only available at the Faculty level Target is only available for Fall terms EDW: Domain Admissions Page 15
Page 2: Accept to Target by Years This report shows actual acceptances compared to enrolment head count target across multiple years. For each year there are three bars shown acceptances ( Accept Count ), start of term head count target and November ERE head count target. A percentage of acceptances to November ERE head count target is also shown with the points for each year joined with a line. The selection boxes on the left side can be used to refine the data shown for example adding more years or filtering by Faculty. Notes Targets are only available at the Faculty level. Target is available from Academic Year 2007 to Academic Year 2010 and only for Fall: note that this information is also covered in What s in Domain Admission EDW: Domain Admissions Page 16
400 Applications Page 1: Year over Year Highest Application This report shows detailed data for applications comparing the number of highest applications on a date in the current cycle to the same date in the previous cycle. The bar graph at the top of the report shows the percentage change in the number of (highest) applications vs the same date one year ago. By default the data is shown for each Faculty with a bar for each choice (1st through 5th and greater). The charts below the graph show the detailed data for highest applications. The first chart shows the change, in numbers and percentages, from one year ago to the same date in the current cycle. Again the data is shown for each Faculty and for each of the choice categories. The second and third charts show the actual highest application counts for the current year and the previous period respectively along with the distribution, in percentage terms of choices. Notes In a case where a student has multiple applications to York, only the highest application is counted here. This report is analogous to the main ALI report used in past years. Change means: number of highest applications for selected term as of the displayed date minus # of highest applications last year on the date one year before for the same term. This is also referred to as variance. Percentage Change means: (TY LY) / LY You can drill down on the graphs or chart by clicking on a Faculty name. This will display a detailed chart by program subject, i.e. majors. Further drill downs will show trend data down to OUAC code. EDW: Domain Admissions Page 17
Page 2: Year over Year Application This report shows detailed data for applications comparing the number of applications on a date in the current cycle to the same date in the previous cycle. The bar graph at the top of the report shows the percentage change in the number of applications vs the same date one year ago. By default the data is shown for each Faculty with a bar for each choice (1st through 5th and greater). The charts below the graph show the detailed data for applications. The first chart shows the change, in numbers and percentages, from one year ago to the same date in the current cycle. Again the data is shown for each Faculty and for each of the choice categories. The second and third charts show the actual application counts for the current year and the previous period respectively along with the distribution, in percentage terms of choices. Notes In a case where a student has multiple applications to York, all the applications are counted here. The year over year comparison data is available down to individual program level through drill-down Change means: number of applications for selected term as of the displayed date minus # of applications last year on the date one year before for the same term. This is also referred to as variance. Percentage Change means: (TY LY) / LY You can drill down on the graphs or chart by clicking on a Faculty name. This will display a detailed chart by program subject, i.e. majors. Further drill downs will show trend data down to OUAC code. EDW: Domain Admissions Page 18
