Structure of the BPD Each business process is described in four steps 1. Overview: summary of the business process (including possible process triggers, preconditions and T2S instructing parties) 2. Business Process Diagram: illustration of the business process 3. Business Process Description: description of the activities depicted in the Business Process Diagram, tables of messages and references to UDFS and GUI BFD 4. Scope of the BPD The BPD focuses on processes requiring interaction between T2S and its directly connected parties Only parties with a direct connection to T2S are displayed Only communication flows between T2S and its directly connected parties are shown The internal business processes of T2S Actors are not displayed, as they will differ widely across the different CSDs, Central Banks and their directly connected parties. T2S internal processes are represented by the T2S services in order to avoid redundancies with T2S specification documents
Samples of BPD Usage Market participants can use the BPD in several ways To acquaint employees with T2S and thereby expand knowledge of T2S within the organisation To ease access to T2S documentation and motivate employees to study T2S functionality more deeply (references to the UDFS are included in the BPD) To guide the adaptation of processes to T2S - First, the BPD can be used to determine a roadmap for process adaptation - Later on, the BPD processes constitute the building blocks for the documentation of process changes - The tables of messages guide the definition of sub-processes for exception handling To support the feasibility study and adaptation analysis phases of T2S projects - Based on the process assessment, the functionality of IT systems can be analysed in the business context
Example: Maintenance of Securities
