SES Broadband Internet connectivity via satellite

Where broadband connectivity grows via satellite SES Broadband Services provides high-speed broadband internet connectivity via satellite. We enable our customers all over the world to deliver highly reliable, innovative and cost-efficient broadband internet access services to consumers and businesses. SES Broadband Services is wholly owned by SES, one of the world s leading satellite operators. SES satellites cover 99% of the world s population. This gives us the flexibility and the capacity to extend our services based on demand, regardless of your location or local facilities. We operate the SES Broadband network across geographical and political borders and bridge the Digital Divide. Our service complements terrestrial broadband networks in rural areas by providing households, businesses and institutional bodies with high-speed, reliable broadband internet access. Millions of households and thousands of businesses still lack access to highspeed broadband services both in well-developed regions and, in particular, in countries and areas now developing their infrastructure. It is our mission to improve the digital life of those who are unconnected and excluded from progress and growth. Our innovative and diverse broadband network services have been contributing to broadband internet provision in remote areas since 2007. After the successful introduction of our services in Europe, we launched our network in the Middle East and Africa, and we are planning further expansion of our service reach. Based on our extensive know-how from the residential market, we have developed our offer to bring an attractive, cost-efficient solution for SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) applications to customers in the energy, security and transportation industries. We also extended our service offering to broadband network solutions for the maritime market. We enable you to offer broadband access services to your customers and to enhance the connectivity of your business, wherever you or your customers may be. Whether it is at high altitudes in the Alps or for ehealth and eeducation services on the plains of Africa, we can provide the right solution for your specific needs in almost every corner of the world. We are continuously expanding and adapting our service portfolio to meet your needs. Our technology and services will continue to fill the gap where other solutions reach their limits. SES Broadband for everyone, everywhere SES Broadband for Communities There is no limit to our satellite broadband services, and with us there is no limit to your business future growth. Internet Service Providers and telecommunications operators use our network infrastructure to offer competitive flat-rate internet access to their customers. If you plan on connecting homes and individuals to satellite broadband internet, we are a trusted and innovative partner for your business success. We grow our expertise on the foundation of established services and products. We can help you to expand your service offer and to develop new profitable revenue streams without the need for costly investments in network infrastructure. SES Broadband is independent of terrestrial infrastructure and complements terrestrial broadband technologies within the footprint of our satellites. We provide bi-directional satellite broadband, bringing you and your customers reliable, always-on, high-speed internet access regardless of location. End users only need a satellite dish and a modem to connect to our high-speed internet service. Our low-cost terminal package is offered with a Do-It-Yourself installation tool for easy set-up by your end user. SES Broadband is triple-play capable, supporting Voice over IP (VoIP) telephony, content on demand and TV/radio reception, in addition to broadband access. Our network features high levels of built-in security and performance enhancements. By operating a Fair Use Policy, we provide each individual end user with the greatest equitable share of broadband speed and capacity. Our satellite broadband services are compatible with the entire SES satellite fleet. Therefore, we can provide our customers with the opportunity to expand their service offerings and react quickly to changes in market demand and global trends. We constantly analyse the needs of our customers and expand our services to meet market requirements. SES Broadband for Communities demonstrates this capability by providing broadband access to user groups such as village communities, apartment blocks or business complexes with one single satellite dish. SES Broadband for Communities provides an innovative network solution to connect an entire residential or commercial community to broadband internet via one single satellite dish. Our technology unites our successful interactive satellite broadband service with the existing last mile infrastructure, such as copper line, TV cable or wireless network. We provide one central satellite broadband connection installed at an aggregation point i.e. street cabinet in the community, cable TV head-end, WiFi mast or multi-dwelling complex to then bring high-speed internet to the end customer via the existing last mile infrastructure. Communities do not have to make costly investments in their local infrastructure; end users do not have to install their own satellite dish. They can use standard equipment (e.g. standard DSL/cable modem) to benefit from all of the advantages of broadband internet. SES Broadband for Communities can be set up immediately and everywhere within the footprint of our satellites regardless of the local infrastructure in place at the aggregation point or the last mile to the end user. Whether you are a representative of a community, a cable network operator or a multidwelling house owner, we have the right platform for you. Company brochure 2012 5

Providing connectivity for your business We are dedicated to provide our business, industrial and institutional customers with precise, reliable and consistent network services wherever they are located. Our goal is to push technical boundaries to new limits be it space, land or sea. We want to give local ideas a global reach. With our innovative satellite technology we connect you where others cannot. Providing solutions for data transfer Connecting people at sea Enabling social and economic development Expanding mobile communication SCADA networks Maritime service Businesses and institutions FEMTOCELL We provide a dedicated satellite communication solution for SCADA applications centralised systems which remotely manage, monitor and control assets or processes and transfer data to a group of widespread recipients. Our SCADA customers are typically in the energy, oil and gas, transportation and security sectors where production or operation sites are widely dispersed. To guarantee a constant data flow, these industries have to rely on a solid communication system but often operate in distant or inaccessible areas. This is where one of our core strength lies: our bi-directional satellite broadband platform provides a cost-effective and highly reliable communication alternative, enabling the setup of SCADA networks in remote and hard-to-reach locations. It is easily deployable and operated, and meets the demands of SMART grids and SMART metering. We can provide the benefits of SES Broadband to maritime customers. Working with leading service providers and technology partners, we have enhanced our broadband solution for use in commercial and leisure shipping. Our maritime service provides fast and reliable broadband to customers on European and Middle Eastern waters even while their vessel is underway, manoeuvring, rolling or pitching. The system includes a motorised and 3 axis stabilised tracking antenna that automatically aligns and locks onto the satellite to maintain a reliable connection while in motion. We provide broadband access for businesses and institutional customers. With our multicast services, we support eeducation, ehealth, efinance and egovernment projects in remote areas. SES Broadband boosts the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in rural locations. Our network solutions also play an integral role in the social development of regions and countries where it is a driving force within the economy. We make economic growth and education possible by connecting people. For 3G service providers we have defined an offer which integrates mobile connectivity with satellite-based internet platform. The simple addition of a femtocell or a picocell terminal to our existing satellite modem creates a small cellular base station to connect mobile users to the service provider s network via our broadband connection. Designed for indoor use in a home or small business, SES Broadband mobile stations allow service providers to extend service coverage where access is limited or unavailable. Company brochure 2012 7
