8 What drives us forward Growth in broadcasters business The number of broadcast TV channels is growing rapidly worldwide. This results in strong demand for satellite transmission capacity. s the leading TV distribution platform via satellite with our global coverage, we are well positioned to support this growth and to help accelerate the development and deployment of HD and Ultra HD TV programmes. 11 SES reaches 291 million TV homes worldwide in 2013, over 15 million homes more than a year ago. Satellite continues to be the leading TV infrastructure in Europe, with SES reaching a record high of 151 million TV homes in Europe in Leading DTH operator in the Philippines, Cignal Digital TV, renews capacity deal with SES to further expand HDTV offering in the country. SES German HD platform, HD+, doubled the number of paying customers to over one million paying households in Brazilian telecommunication group Oi uses SES-6 capacity to provide DTH services in Brazil. Platco Digital will broadcast new free-to-air channels in South frica via SES satellite. Gogo utilises capacity on SES satellites to offer in-flight broadband connectivity across the United States and on transatlantic routes.
