Introduction This document was written by Patrick Sims to detail the various new features in the Medilink ESI 2013+ R1 release. Please refer to previous feature list documents where you have skipped releases etc.. Features listed here are not necessarily brand new in 2013 R1, some 2012 R2 versions may contain some of these features, (as development versions have been trickle fed to cater for bug fixes etc.). 2012/01/30 Advanced Professional Systems Pty. Major Features Medilink Results Medilink has integrated with HealthLink, a third party HL7 results provider, to provide you with pathology/radiology results direct to your Medilink EHR system. With our two check confirmation system, (practice staff & provider must confirm that a result is handled), and easy to understand highlighting, you won t miss a thing. We are working closely with other results providers, and also developing a requests module; we hope to have these additional features available soon too. Medilink s EHR module is maturing and becoming a handy feature for specialists who are looking for a lightweight and integrated clinical solution. Utilities / Launcher The utilities has had a make-over and is now a login portal for all sorts of things related to Medilink, including: 1. Launcher for Medilink, EHR & DMS. 2. Streamlined Medilink utilities; now with added security, (must be admin to run some of them). 3. Quick Medilink news and internal messages. 4. Online help guide that will be constantly updated. This is part of our move to newer technology platforms and interfaces; whilst still providing you with the standard Medilink experience that you know and love. 2012/01/30 Advanced Professional Systems Pty. Fee Importer A new streamlined fee importer has been produced, and many of our clients have used it to import their November 2012 fees. This makes the whole process a lot simpler to update your fees, as it downloads the latest fees from our website and applies them with very minimal interaction. Minor Features Medilink Reports Most of the Medilink reports have had a cosmetic make-over. Letters Blank Lines We are suppressing blank lines more effectively than before. Logon Counts Changes have been made to ensure user licencing count is more flexible than previous versions. Easyclaim Invoice Type Option to make Easyclaim not the default invoice type, (it always was if you were registered for Easyclaim). Omni Search Options Omni search options can revert to defaults always, or be retained, (General Options -> Save Omni Checkbox Settings). EHR Launch Putting an appointment to in-service for providers can prompt to run/bring up patient in EHR. Default Appointment Code You can now choose a default code for new appointments. Communications / Phonecalls Communications and phonecalls, (synonymous), has had a layout change. Finishing an appointment can automatically create a comm. Edit Family Patient There is now a tick box option to alter patient address etc. details unlinked from the family account details. Internal Messaing Overhaul of internal messaing dialogs and maximum two week backlog for internal messages to pop-up. Referral For Same Providers You can now create multiple referrals for the same servicing and referring provider. General Options -> Ask Referral Over-Write. Review Letters Tweaked provider selection before entering review letters. You can now also disable review letters, (all letters will just be standard letters). Changing the status is ensuring the correct review letter is still selected. Sped up file-away logic. Appointment Mobile Numbers 2012/01/30 Advanced Professional Systems Pty. Ltd. Page 5
If registered for SMS and you create an appointment without a mobile number, (or it s in the wrong field), users are prompted to enter/fix this or prompt for SMS consent. Return To Today Return to today feature will now also return cursor to the current time. MRN Search MRN search functionality has been tweaked. GUI Revamp The GUI revamp has improved text scaling and borders, and options now moved to the View menu: Toggle modern/classic GUI. Horizontal/vertical toolbars. Toolbars can be separate or together. Postcodes Logic to stop auto selecting LVR and PO Box postcodes, i.e., postcodes less than 2000 for SYDNEY. Bulk Bill Referral Expired Added warning to minimise billing rejections. Accounts Use Easyclaim Created utility to set all existing accounts to Use Easyclaim, (to be run manually by technicians on setup if desirable). New Claim Form Added Medicare 2012 claim form in printing setup. Admin Logon Admin users are now prompted that they take responsibility for use when starting Medilink. This is intended to ensure that only admin users are accessing the relevant information and to prompt practice managers to ensure that these user rights are properly configured. Audit Trail An audit trail from the last business day will now print out by default for admin users. Reminders A button for sending yourself an internal messaging reminder has been added. EHR PDF Preview Native PDF previews have proper page navigation and scroll-bar. Option to allow 3 rd party PDF application, (medi_acc.ini ShowPDFInBrowser, option not exposed in GUI). EHR Auto-Save EHR changes are auto-saved when changing the focus to an alternate dialog. EHR Same Consult 2012/01/30 Advanced Professional Systems Pty. Ltd. Page 7
If you create another consult on the same day as an existing consult, it will warn you that there is an existing consult and ask if you wish to append to it or create a new consult. Buttons Button icons have been altered. Problems List Added extra columns for finished/non-finished and colour coding. Referral List Referral list is in reverse order, (most recent referrals at top). Repeat Script Other providers can repeat an existing script. Script Medicare Number Added Medicare number field to script dialog, (may be necessary to have that information). Communications Linking Added communications button on the patient summary screen, and user line for communications in patient summary. Linking To Consult When adding a new script/letter/problem you will be prompted to attach it to a specific consult. Consult Summary Create 2012/01/30 Advanced Professional Systems Pty. Ltd. Page 8
Streamlined creation. Add Script Added add script button to consult summary. Create Letters When creating letters in EHR/DMS you can save them as review letters. Consult Summary Date Added date to various consult summary fields, (script/attachments). Screen Focus Added logic to ensure screen focus. Tools Layout Moved tools functionality to menu system to clean-up interface. Script Editing Can only alter scripts within 24 hours. Printing also finalises the script. Added colour coding for review letters. Script Printing Added printer selection options when printing scripts. Consult Nodes Ordering Added consult node ordering by date. Script Favourites Added script favourites functionality. Problems Search Improved health problems searching feature. Patient Details Expanded simple patient details viewable in EHR. Script Problem Linking We have linked the selected problem to the script when you create a new script. If no patient selecting when running it will prompt you to select one. Also pre-fills bulk bill patient search. Preview Focus Removed flicker and ensure focus after merging bulk scans. Bug Fixes Software bugs are problems in a computer program where the system does something completely unexpected and clearly wrong, (as opposed to doing something a bit differently to how you would like; that is a feature request). Unfortunately bugs happen in all software products, and we are not immune. In every release we do, we fix bugs that our users bring to our attention. At the time of writing, we are up to date with all but a couple of low priority issues. We like to keep right on top of bugs as much as possible. If there is a specific problem you ve had and you ve told us about it, chances are it has been fixed in this current version. If you have reported a bug and would like to ensure it has been fixed please email us at support@medilink.com.au and we will check it for you, (and if not, we will add it to the list to ensure it is fixed asap; we really want this feedback!). 2012/01/30 Advanced Professional Systems Pty.
