Solar Water Heating System Testing Center The Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE), Ministry of Energy DEDE has established the solar water heating system testing center for testing the equipment of solar water heating system in complianced with Thai Industrial Standard (TIS 899-2532) and the European Standard (EN12975). 19
Solar Water Heating System Test Center Station 1: Internal Pressure Test In practical the solar water heating system is needed to be pumped to circulate water in the system. In this test, water pressure inside the collector will be increased to test the collector endurance. Normally, the collector must be tested in this station for twice. - Firstly, it is tested before other physical tests. - Lastly will be done after the last physical test. 20
Solar Water Heating System Test Center Station 2: Exposure Test This test is intended to test the solar collector that esthablished under the real methodological condition. -The solar collector will be installed and aligned the 30 o with horizontal plane at least 3 days -The average solar irradiance must more than 14 MJ/m 2 while the ambient temperature and wind speed are about 27 o C and 2m/s, respectively. 21
Solar Water Heating System Test Center Station 3: Freezing Resistance Test Some solar collectors may be used and installed in the low temperature areas or even exported to cold countries which lead to the changing of physical endurance of the collector material. - This experimental test will be carried out by installation the solar collector under the Temperature Cycling Chamber and the physical test must be taken for 10 cycles. 22
Solar Water Heating System Test Center Station 4: Thermal Shock Test This thermal shock testing station can simulate that kind of changing weather which occur in the tropical climate as Thailand. 23
Solar Water Heating System Test Center Station 5: Thermal Performance Test This experimental test is the thermal efficiency test of solar collector by using the Solar Irradiance Simulator System. -The solar irradiance simulator can control those parameters within the standard conditions. - The measured instrument are established to measure and record all parameters so that they will be used to determine the thermal efficiency of the collector which is necessary for further sizing the solar water heating system. 24
