Introduction of Partner Institutions International School for Social and Business Studies The International School for Social and Business Studies (ISSBS) is nationally and internationally accredited academic and research higher education institution in the fields of business, economics, management and education. ISSBS strives to become internationally recognised for the quality of its study programmes and for its achievements in education and research. The ISSBS offers bachelors, masters and doctoral study programmes, and is open to students from all over the world. The ISSBS study programmes stress the importance of practical training. Experts from the areas of business and education are regularly involved in programmes implementations, offering students a good mix of theory and practice. The ISSBS is very active in the field of research and development. Every year, it organises an international scientific conference MakeLearn. It also publishes the International Journal of Management, Knowledge and Learning and is a co-founder of an international publishing house ToKnowPress. ISSBS is a member of EMUNI University, which is an international association of universities with headquarters in Slovenia. It represents one of the six projects of the Union of the Mediterranean. ISSBS is also involved in various international research projects and consortiums. Galilee International Management Institute Since its establishment in 1987, Galilee International Management Institute (GIMI) has offered management training and capacity building programmes to senior officials and decision makers from around the globe. Our educational mission is based on a belief that human efficiency is the crucial factor in nations reaching their full socio-economic potential. MASTER PROGRAMME: MANAGEMENT AND QUALITY IN EDUCATION Programme Description and Objectives Based on worldwide research findings and the belief that managers and employees at all levels need specific qualifications in order to be successful, the Masters of Management and Quality in Education (MQE) is an international, European accredited, one year, interdisciplinary postgraduate programme offering students knowledge in the fields of management, economics, law, education and organisational and behavioural sciences. The programme provides students with knowledge in all above specified fields and specialised knowledge in the field of education management. It aims to educate experts who will be able to take over the most demanding tasks of education planning, development and management on all levels and in all fields. This international programme includes two residential study terms at ISSBS, Slovenia and GIMI, Israel respectively where students will be exposed to European and Israeli education management systems. Who Is This Programme For? The study programme aims to train experts who work closely with the education sector in all levels of schooling, agencies and ministries for education. Admission requirements Candidates must have completed a 4-year bachelor or equivalent undergraduate degree in social sciences, business, administration, law or education; or 3-year bachelors or equivalent undergraduate degree (first-cycle) in the scope of 180 ECTS, but must acquire additional 120 ECTS. The missing ECTS will later determine appropriate commission from other study units or study obligations of the study programme. Graduates from other study fields must demonstrate that they have acquired knowledge of management, business and administration in the scope of 12-18 ECTS prior to enrolment. This knowledge can be acquired in the form of courses taken as part of their Bachelors studies, non-formal education or informal learning, or in the form of bridging courses (exams) determined by ISSBS. Candidates who are not native English speakers must provide a minimum B1/B2 level English language certificate in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Programme Structure and Syllabus The one year study programme consists of three obligatory courses, two electives and a Master s thesis. The obligatory courses cover the subject area of management theory in education and are supported by courses on academic writing skills and research methodology. The elective courses focus on special topics in management education and it is these topics that are usually further developed in the Master s thesis. Organization of Studies and Student Support - Lectures will be held at ISSBS, Slovenia (seven weeks) and at GIMI, Israel (five weeks). During these study periods students will be offered face-to-face lectures, seminars, workshops, discussions and study visits. - Upon their return home, ISSBS will provide students with online e-classroom support throughout the study year. - Exams: For each course partial exams will be held during the students last week in Slovenia and Israel. Furthermore they will also have to deliver assignments for each course approximately three months after the end of lectures. Students may be required to present their assignments (on-line presentation). At ISSBS, one ECTS equals, on average, 25 hours of a student s work. 2 An elective course will be carried out if it is selected by at least 15 students.
Application dates March 1 st 2015 until July 30 th 2015. Programme fees The fees for the Masters of Management & Quality Education (including tuition fees and living expenses) are 26,000 per student. There are two options of payment for the programme: Option I - *Full payment: 26,000 to be paid by 30 th September 2015 *Applicants paying full amount in one-time payment will receive a discount of 5%; Resulting in one-time payment of 24,700 Option 2 - *Payment Plan: This option enables the participant to pay the programme fees in four installments.
