Hydropower The renewal of hydropower units, feasibility studies, and overseeing and operating generation centers are the hydropower fields where Hecla displays its engineering expertise through one of its main shareholders, Landsvirkjun Power.
Hydropower Landsvirkjun Power Ltd. is a limited liability company for international operations of the Icelandic National Power Company, Landsvirkjun. Landsvirkjun Power is fully owned by Landsvirkjun. Purpose of Landsvirkjun Power is consulting services in the areas of hydropower, geothermal power, transmission and operations of power stations. Landsvirkjun Power was founded in 2007. Turnover in international operations was about USD 2 million each year in 2010 and 2011, close to 3 musd in 2012. Landsvirkjun operates 13 hydropower stations and 2 geothermal power stations (total 1900 MW) and generated 12.5 GWh in 2011. Turnover of Landsvirkjun was USD 436.2 million in 2011.
