INTRODUCTION The MaricopaNursing/Northern Arizona University (NAU) Concurrent Enrollment Associate Degree/Baccalaureate Degree Nursing Program is designed for qualified associate degree nursing students who are interested in earning their Bachelor s of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree while pursuing their associate s degree in nursing. The Concurrent Enrollment Program (CEP) allows students to pursue an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Nursing while providing an affordable course of study. When followed in sequence, this program enables students to complete their BSN degree concurrently in the same semester as, or within one semester of, graduating with their AAS degree. Students enrolled in the CEP will follow the traditional course of study for all MaricopaNursing students pursuing their AAS degree in Nursing, but will also be enrolled in required NAU nursing courses concurrently. Because NAU courses are taken online or in hybrid format, all courses will be offered in the greater Phoenix area. BSN-prepared nurses are highly valued by potential employers, and MaricopaNursing/NAU CEP graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skills to begin their nursing career with a degree that will promote professional knowledge and advancement. CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT PROGRAM INFORMATION The MaricopaNursing/NAU Concurrent Enrollment AAS/BSN Program is a 6-semester program offered through participating community colleges in the Maricopa Community College District. A limited number of participants are selected from the pool of MaricopaNursing students who have met all Concurrent Enrollment Program eligibility requirements and have applied to the CEP. ELIGIBILITY To be considered for participation in the MaricopaNursing/NAU CEP, the following is required: Acceptance into the MaricopaNursing pool (queue). Completed attendance at a MaricopaNursing Associate-Baccalaureate CEP Information Session. Registration for information sessions is completed through MaricopaNursing. Completion of all MaricopaNursing prerequisite and corequisite requirements. Completion of all NAU prerequisite requirements before NAU Nursing coursework begins. Students may have no more than 7 credits in-progress (listed on their unofficial transcripts) when they submit their CEP application. Minimum GPA of 3.0 in all MaricopaNursing and NAU courses that are noted with one asterisk (*) on page 3. Inprogress coursework (including retakes) may be factored into the 3.0 GPA requirement. CONCURRENT PROGRAM INFORMATION AND ELIGIBILITY DETERMINATION Before submitting a program application, students must attend a Transcript Advisement and Evaluation Session to have all transcripts and NET/HESI A2 scores reviewed for eligibility. Please visit the MaricopaNursing website at www.nursing.maricopa.edu for date, times, and locations of Transcript Advisement and Evaluation Sessions.. 2

All students must complete both NAU and MaricopaNursing program prerequisites and corequisites as noted above. Students may have up to 7 credits of NAU prerequisite coursework (including any course repeats) in progress when they submit their CEP application. To ensure that prerequisites meet program requirements, students are encouraged to meet with MCCD and NAU nursing advisors. Students must attend a MaricopaNursing CEP Information Session prior to applying to the CEP program. All CEP Nursing courses will be taught at one of the MaricopaNursing campuses, at the NAU North Valley campus, or in an online format. No CEP courses will be held at the NAU Flagstaff campus. Final determinations of transfer credits will be made by MCCD and NAU admissions personnel. Application and acceptance to Northern Arizona University (NAU) School of Nursing is completed after eligibility into the CEP is determined. Students currently enrolled in a MaricopaNursing ADN program are not eligible to transfer into the CEP Program. HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS MaricopaNursing and Northern Arizona University s School of Nursing have Health and Safety Requirements that must be met prior to enrolling and participating in any clinical experiences. Healthcare agencies throughout the state require vaccinations, titers, and other healthcare related requirements (examples of these requirements are background checks, CPR, drug and nicotine testing, etc.) These requirements are subject to change per healthcare agency contracts with the educational institution and students must be compliant with agency requirements prior to and throughout the program. 3

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Who can apply to the MaricopaNursing/NAU Concurrent Enrollment Program (MN/NAU CEP)? All students who have completed the eligibility requirements for the CEP are encouraged to apply. Where does the program take place? The MN/NAU CEP is offered at a variety of MaricopaNursing program sites. Most NAU courses are offered online a couple are required to be completed in-person in the Phoenix area. Is there a waiting list for the CEP? There is no waiting list for the MN/NAU CEP. If you are not accepted into the program for the semester to which you applied, you must reapply for consideration in a subsequent application cycle. Do I have to attend a CEP Information Session? Yes. In order to apply for the MN/NAU CEP, students must attend an Information Session. Check your Student Status page for future locations, dates, times, and registration instructions. You must be in attendance for the entire Information Session in order to have your name placed on the list for program consideration, so please plan to arrive on time and remain for the entire session. How do I register for a CEP Information Session? Registration for a CEP Information Session is completed through your MaricopaNursing Student Application Status page. What do I need for the application? Please attach copies of your unofficial college transcripts and HESI Admission Assessment (A2) test scores. If I will not be finished with all of my prerequisite courses when I submit my application, will I be considered for the MN/NAU CEP? Students can be considered for the MN/NAU CEP with up to 7 credits of NAU prerequisite coursework in progress (repeat coursework will be considered in these 7 credits). The in-progress coursework must be documented on the unofficial college transcripts you attach to the CEP application. All coursework must be completed, with appropriate grades to still meet the 3.0 admission GPA, prior to starting NAU Nursing coursework. What are you looking for in a potential candidate who is applying for the MN/NAU CEP? Applications that meet eligibility requirements will be reviewed and student selection will be based on admission GPA, previous college degree completion, and HESI A2 scores. A minimum admission GPA of 3.0 is required. If I am not selected for the MN/NAU CEP, can I reapply? As long as you meet the current MN/NAU CEP requirements, you are eligible to reapply. Do I need to be admitted to the MaricopaNursing pool and to NAU? To be eligible to apply for the CEP, you must be in the MaricopaNursing applicant pool. Following your acceptance into the MN/NAU CEP, you will apply to NAU, and official transcripts from all educational institutions attended must then be submitted to both the MaricopaNursing college you will attend and to NAU. What are my next steps after I am admitted to the MN/NAU CEP and accept my offer? Following your acceptance, the NAU advising team will invite you to attend an in-person Orientation session at the NAU North Valley campus in Phoenix, for which you will RSVP. This Orientation will cover next steps for admission to NAU, the enrollment structure, and financial aid in more detail. Where can I learn more about the CEP? For more information about the CEP, including financial aid information and CEP application, visit our website at https://asa.maricopa.edu/departments/healthcare-education-at-the-maricopa-community/ maricopanursing-programs/concurrent-enrollment-programs-cep. 4

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (continued) How much does the MN/NAU CEP cost? Tuition costs* for the 36 credits of MaricopaNursing AAS courses = approximately $3,024. Tuition costs** for the required 30 credits of NAU BSN courses = approximately $11,280. Textbooks, supplies, and university fees are additional. If I am receiving financial aid, how will it be disbursed between the two schools? Because federal regulations require that financial aid can only be disbursed through one college at a time, you will need to apply for financial aid through NAU and complete and sign a consortium agreement for financial aid disbursement. Although the financial aid between the two programs is designed to work seamlessly, this cannot be guaranteed, so there may be times when you will be asked to pay your MaricopaNursing program tuition before you receive your NAU financial aid check. You will need to be prepared to pay your MaricopaNursing program tuition out of pocket or by payment plan until the balance of your financial aid is awarded by NAU. How are classes scheduled? Your MaricopaNursing classes will be set up and scheduled by MaricopaNursing. Course schedules will be posted on Blackboard. All NAU courses have an online component, but some have an inperson component that will be scheduled around MaricopaNursing courses. The NAU advising team will automatically enroll you into your NAU Nursing classes every semester. When do courses start? Please see programs of study on pages 6-7. Students in the MN/NAU CEP take a combination of online and in-person (Phoenix-based) NAU classes the semester prior to their first semester of the MaricopaNursing program. Where do I go for academic advisement for this program? MaricopaNursing advisors are available for pre-application advisement at Maricopa locations. NAU advisors are located in Flagstaff, but are available to provide pre-application advisement via email or by phone.
