Mr. Caruso is noted for his aggressive advocacy on behalf of employers with regard to workers compensation, occupational diseases and employer liability concerns. Well versed in analyzing the effects of changing federal and state legislation on workers compensation, Mr. Caruso is insightful at identifying needed reforms. This ability has led him to become active in workers compensation reform committees. A frequent guest lecturer and widely published author, Mr. Caruso has been a keynote speaker at regional and national levels for claims associations, management groups and the insurance industry. His expertise includes compensability of workers compensation claims, evaluating medical and permanent disability, preventing workers compensation fraud and the impact of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Mr. Caruso received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1974. While a law student, he served as a hearing officer for the student disciplinary board and represented indigent clients in court through the school s legal clinic. Mr. Caruso graduated from Central Missouri State University with a bachelor of science in business administration. Mr. Caruso is a member of the bar in Illinois. Laura M. Newman has extensive experience in both the public and private sectors counseling management how to prevent and deal with tough labor and employment issues, both as an attorney and a human resources executive. Most recently, Ms. Newman served as Director of Labor and Employee Relations for the University of Toledo in Ohio. Prior to that position, she was an attorney with Wessels & Pautsch at its St. Charles, Illinois office and is now returning to that position. Laura Newman Ms. Newman received her Juris Doctor degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law. She was honored as a Kent Legal Scholar and was a member of the Chicago-Kent Moot Court Honor Society. Ms. Newman was awarded a bachelor of science degree in marketing with high honors from the University of Illinois. As an attorney licensed to practice in Illinois and admitted to the Illinois bar in 1995, Ms. Newman represents management before the state and federal Departments of Labor, the National Labor Relations Board, the EEOC, the Illinois Department of Human Rights and Illinois Human Rights Commission, as well as state and federal courts. Ms. Newman also represents public and private employers in all aspects of labor relations, including organizing campaigns, collective bargaining, contract and grievance administration and arbitration. She is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association. Jeffrey A. Risch received his Juris Doctor degree with Highest Honors from the University of Tulsa.
