Application process in short Studying in the Netherlands is linked to a digital registration system called Studielink. Via this registration system students from abroad can start their application procedure online. The registration in Studielink will take 15-20 minutes. STEP 1: Creating a User Name - In order to start your application process you will have to create an account at www.studielink.nl. This account is important during your whole study period in the Netherlands so make sure you save your log in data after you receive the confirmation mail. - At the website choose the UK-flag symbol and request login details and log in. - Apply for user name and password by choosing a suitable User Name and giving your personal e-mail address (to which you have frequent access) and your telephone number. - If everything is filled in correctly you receive an e-mail from STUDIELINK. IMPORTANT: Save this e-mail since you will need the log in data. You can now continue with your application. STEP 2 Log into STUDIELINK After you created an account you are asked to supply us with your personal contact data. We need this data in order to contact you via e-mail and send you information via post. Choose contact data to which you have frequent access (personal e-mail, home address). - Log in with the User Name and Password via Request login details and log in - Fill in the needed information marked with * IMPORTANT: Be sure you use a valid address in your home country since we will be sending information to you by post. (Upon arrival in the Netherlands at the start of your study we advise you to change this address to your Dutch address in order to be informed on a regular basis). - After filling in your personal details you get the opportunity to change your password to something you might be able to remember more easily. You now have a complete Studielink account and you can continue your application process. STEP 3 Start your application You continue your application directly from Step 2 or you will have to log in again. - In order to enrol to a study programme choose New enrolment application. Then choose the following options in the drop down menus: Academic year: 01-09-2012 / 31-08-2013 1 Level study programme: University of Applied Sciences Course category: Bachelor's or other non master programmes Search further: Place Place: Venlo Course type: full time Study programme title: Choose one from below o B Bedrijfseconomie International Business Economics English - Alleen in Venlo 1 NOTE: a Dutch academic year starts September 1 and ends August 31. If you wish to start in February always choose the academic year which is already in progress. 2
o B Commerciële Economie Food and Flower Management English - Alleen in Venlo o B Commerciële Economie International Marketing English - Alleen in Venlo o B International Business and Management Studies - Fill in details about your secondary school diploma. IMPORTANT: If you do not have your diploma yet, select a date on which you will (probably) receive it. If the name of your diploma is not listed, make sure you choose other. You then can fill in the name of your diploma yourself - Fontys would like to know three additional things 1. If you excel in sports and play on a (semi-)professional level (any kind of sport) Fontys would like to know this. In that case we will try to support you in the planning of your studies if important games or tournaments are up. 2. If you have any kind of handicap we would like to know this as well because that way we know if we have to adjust certain things. 3. If we have questions concerning your diploma we would like to contact your previous secondary school. - Fill in specific details about your postal address. Fontys will send you more information about your enrolment by postal mail. Please indicate if you wish to receive it on the address you already registered at Studielink or provide another address. IMPORTANT: As soon as you know your residence address for the Netherlands (you will be informed through the institute and the accommodation company mid July (for February enrollments mid December)) or if you move to another accommodation during your stay in the Netherlands always change your details in your Studielink account via My Details. This way Fontys has a Dutch contact address of you as well. All mail from Fontys will be send to this address. - Please choose one of the three options for the payment of your tuition fees. 1. If the money eventually will be transferred from your own personal account choose I am paying. 2. If the money eventually will be transferred from the account of your parents / guardian choose my parents/guardian are paying 3. If the money eventually will be transferred from an account from someone else (e.g. sponsor) choose someone else is paying. IMPORTANT: If you do not know yet who will pay your tuition fees choose I don t know yet who will pay. You do not have to enter any account detail. It is no problem changing data later on. This has no consequences for your tuition fees. - Print the final overview for your own administration. If you click in back to my personal Studielink page you will return to your first Studielink page. Further mails will both come from Studielink (no-reply@studielink.nl), Fontys (campusvenlo@fontys.nl) or by postal mail. STEP 4: First contact mails After signing up for one of our programmes you will receive information by e-mail and post in order to complete your application. 3

If everything is correct you received two e-mails from STUDIELINK. IMPORTANT: Please save these e-mails since you will need the log in data. Dear. We hereby provide you with your username. Your username is (USERNAME). Kind regards, Studielink Automatically generated mail, please do not reply. Dear (prospective) student, You have successfully requested access to Studielink. Your password is: (PASSWORD) The password and the user name that you provided with your application give you access to Studielink. Tip: copy this password and paste it when logging in. STEP 2 Log into STUDIELINK You can now continue with your application on the new page which appeared, by clicking on Go to login page (a). (a) ) 7

On this screen you will your to do list. Click on Add previous education (e). (e) Include your previous education below. After you filled this out press the confirm button (f). (f) 9
After you have confirmed click on Go to My Studielink page (g). (g) 10
STEP 3 Start your application If you continue your application directly from Step 2 you will see the following page. If you stopped your application in between you will probably have to log in again. After login in you will directly be lead to your personal page in Studielink. The personal page gives you access to your enrollment details, your personal details and messages you receive later on during the application process. In order to enrol to a study programme choose Enrolment application (a). (a) Academic year: 01-09-2012 / 31-08-2013 Institution of Higher Education: University of Applied Sciences Course category: Bachelor's or other non master programmes Educational Institution: Fontys Hogescholen NOTE: a Dutch academic year starts September 1 and ends August 31. After filling out the starting date you will see the notion The institution for higher education will determine wheter you are eligible for admission to this study programme. After that you will see following screen. Please print the form and keep it for your own administration. After that click go to My Studielink page (f). (f) A pop-up internet page will appear which also indicates that you applied at Fontys 15

STEP 4: First contact mails Further mails will both come from Studielink (no-reply@studielink.nl) or us (campusvenlo@fontys.nl). Mail #1 Studielink (generally sent directly after you finish your application in Studielink): Your enrolment application for the study programme named below was submitted on (DATE). The institution will send you a confirmation of receipt. The message concerns the following Study programme: Study programme title (institution) (NAME STUDY PROGRAME) Study programme title (nationwide) (NAME STUDY PROGRAMME) Institution Fontys Hogescholen Place VENLO Course category bachelor Enrolment type student Course type full-time Period (ACADEMIC YEAR) Mail #2 Studielink (generally sent directly after you finish your application in Studielink): You must submit a copy of your diploma and grade list to the educational institution you wish to attend in order to verify your educational prerequisites. See below for the specific procedure of your educational institution for verifying your previous education using a diploma and grade list. Information on the procedure for Fontys Hogescholen: Surf to: www.fontys.nl/inschrijfvoorwaarden IMPORTANT: Please do not send us your diploma yet. You will send you an application package by regular mail. Mail #3 Studielink (generally sent directly after you finish your application in Studielink): You are not an official resident of the Netherlands, so your personal details must be verified by the educational institution at which you will be studying using a valid proof of identity. Consult the instructions given by the educational institution listed below regarding its specific procedure. As you can see you have now completed the first steps in Studielink in order to enroll at Fontys. You are officially registered as a potential student for Fontys and Fontys will respond to your application by sending you an enrollment package per post. You will receive this within two weeks time after your successful registration in Studielink. You will receive a new mail from Studielink after 3-4 days which states the following: Mail #4 Studielink (generally sent 3-4 working days after your application in Studielink): One or more messages and/or status changes have been added to your account in Studielink. 17
Go to "My messages" (www.studielink.nl) in Studielink to view the content of these messages. You can view the changes to your enrolment application in "my applications". Open your Studielink account and you will see a new message in My Messages: Dear, Your enrolment application for the course named below was received by the institution on (DATE). The institution will process your application and will inform you about subsequent steps. This message concerns the following study programme: Study programme title (institution): B International Business and Management Studies Study programme title (nationwide): B Internat Business and Managem Studies Institution: Fontys Hogescholen Place: VENLO Course category: bachelor Enrolment type: student Course type: full-time Period: 01-09-2011 up to and including 31-08-2012. Mail#1 Fontys (generally sent 5-6 days after the completion of your registration in Studielink) Dear, As a student of Fontys University of Applied Sciences, you're allowed to use the ICT facilities made available to students. To use these facilities you will need a user name and a password. Please store these data carefully. You will need them if you want to participate in computer classes or use the facilities in our Open Shops. Enrolment complete? Your enrolment will not be complete until you have met all enrolment requirements! * For your enrolment, and for identification purposes on campus, you need to upload a photo. This photo will appear on your students card. Upload your photo here and use the above mentioned user name and password to log on. Questions? STEP 5: Return all needed documents as soon as possible. Please contact us, if the documents have not reached you within two weeks after your registration in SL! STEP 6: Your documents will be assessed and processed by Fontys If you send the diploma information (either diploma information form or certified copy of diploma) you will receive an e-mail from Studielink which indicates that you have new messages. Once again log in to Studielink to view these messages: Your previous education details NON-DUTCH DIPLOMA / BUITENLANDSE VOOROPLEIDING have been verified by the institution and/or DUO. Verified details can no longer be changed. Details not yet verified can still be changed. Check and correct the results if necessary. The details of your request for enrolment were updated by the institution for higher education on (DATE). The institution has determined that you are admissible on the grounds of your previous education (your previous education is sufficient to follow this study programme), on the condition that you obtained the diploma. This does not yet mean that your enrolment application has been approved as well. There may be additional requirements to satisfy. Don t forget to change your correspondence address in your Studielink account (www.studielink.nl) from the address from your home country into the new address in the Netherlands. In order to prepare everything for you please fill out the online arrival form completely. They will contact you soon to inform you about all necessary information according to your student room, like address of the room, rental price, rental contract, deposit and arrival. NOTE: You cannot obtain an enrolment voucher if the above mentioned requirements are not completely met and thus you will not be able to attend classes on Monday 29 August. Please make sure to hand in the missing documents at the Student Service Desk in Venlo this week. If this is absolutely not possible for you, you can bring the missing documents with you on Monday 22 August when you come to Venlo to collect your enrolment voucher. Disenrollment Attention: If you decide not to study at Fontys Venlo it is of the utmost importance that you disenroll immediately via Studielink: www.studielink.nl. Only if you disenroll in Studielink your enrolment will be stopped and you will not be charged for any tuition fee. If you disenroll after 1 September we will collect tuition fee every month.
