TAS-2000 MSW-003 Software Manual Installing the Software To install the TAS-2000 MSW-003 Software, Run SETUP.EXE on the root directory folder of the MSW-003 CD, or Use the Windows Control Panel s Add/Remove Programs install feature. Follow the instructions on the screen. Once it is installed, you can run the program by clicking Start->Programs->TAS 2000. Connecting the Hardware Direct Connect Method (using the RS-485IMA) Connect the RS-485IMA to the PC serial port using the serial cable provided with the RS-485IMA. Connect the ribbon cable on the RS-485IMA to the TAS-2000 Lobby Panel via the terminal marked RS-485 I/F. Connector designations are as follows. For the Slim-Line model, use connector P2 located near the top left corner of the main circuit board. For the standard model, use connector P3 located near the bottom left corner of the main circuit board. Notes: If your lobby panel is configured as a Non-Subscriber Line (NSL), skip to Creating an NSL Tenant Database on page 5. If using a MDM-1000A, ensure that JW1 is removed and jumpers 1 & 3 are installed. Dial-Up Method (Using Modem) Connect the modem on your PC to a standard telephone line. Connect the dedicated telephone line at the Lobby Panel to the telephone jack connector on the MDM-1000A and connect the ribbon cable on the MDM 1000A module to the TAS-2000 Lobby Panel via the terminal marked RS-485 I/F. Connector designations are as follows. For Slim-Line model, use connector P2 located near the top left corner of the main circuit board. For Standard model, use connector P3 located near the bottom left corner of the main circuit board. Note: Ensure that JW1 is installed and jumpers 1 & 3 are removed on the MDM-1000A. 1

Opening/creating A Job File Opening/creating A Job File 1. Open the TAS-2000 software by clicking Start->Programs->TAS 2000. You will be prompted for a User Name and Password (as shown below). The default for both is mircom. 2. Type mircom in both spaces and click OK. Note: mircom must be type in all lower case letters. The Control Panel window displays. 3. Click Open Job File located in the upper left on Control Panel window. The following window displays. 4. Select an existing file from the list or type a new file name in the File name window. 5. Click Open. 2

TAS-2000 MSW-003 Software Manual Creating an ADC Tenant Database Note: If your lobby panel is configured as a Non-Subscriber Line (NSL), skip to Creating an NSL Tenant Database on page 5. The name of the file that is opened displays across the top of the Control Panel window. To enter tenant names click Show ADC. The following window displays. Records may be added, edited or deleted as desired. To add records, click the ADD button. The following window displays. Enter resident name if using scrolling directory panels, or leave blank if using non-scrolling panels Enter resident apartment number (this is optional because it is used for reference only--it will not be stored on lobby panel) Enter 4-digit resident dial code (for dial codes fewer than 4 digits, precede with 0 s, e.g. 0003) Enter resident telephone number (maximum 14 digits) 3

Creating an ADC Tenant Database Enter resident keyless code (this is optional because it is used for reference only--it will not be stored on lobby panel) Enter default elevator code-if feature not used, enter 99 Select default elevator ID-If feature not used, select ID-099 Select lobby ID-factory default set as ID-001 Click OK when finished. In addition, you may use the Auto-Program feature by clicking the Auto button in the ADC Database window. The following window displays: Enter number of residents to program (shown as 25) Enter default resident name (shown as Resident Name) Enter 4-digit starting dial code (shown as 1001) Enter starting keyless code (this is optional because it is used for reference only--it will not be stored on lobby panel) (shown as 2001) Enter default elevator code-if feature not used, enter 99 (shown as 99) Select default elevator ID-If feature not used, select ID-099 (shown as ID-099) Enter default phone # (shown as 9055551212) Click OK when finished Note: When finished programming tenant records, skip to Establishing a Direct Connection on page 7. 4

TAS-2000 MSW-003 Software Manual Creating an NSL Tenant Database Note: If your lobby panel is configured as an Auto-Dialer (ADC), go to Creating an ADC Tenant Database on page 3. The name of the file that is opened displays across the top of the Control Panel window. To enter tenant names click Show NSL. Records may be Added, Edited or Deleted as desired. To add records, click the ADD button. The following window displays. 5

Creating an NSL Tenant Database Enter resident name if using scrolling directory panels, or leave blank if using non-scrolling panels Enter resident apartment number (this is optional because it is used for reference only--it will not be stored on lobby panel) Enter 4-digit resident dial code (for dial codes fewer than 4 digits, precede with 0 s, e.g. 0003) Enter resident relay code (is determined by location of wires on BIX block) Enter resident keyless code (this is optional because it is used for reference only--it will not be stored on lobby panel) Enter elevator code-if feature not used, enter 99 Select ring pattern Select lobby ID-factory default set as ID-01 Select NSL-ID, factory default set as ID-02 Select default elevator ID-If feature not used, select ID-99 Click OK when finished In addition you may use the Auto-Program feature by clicking the Auto button in the NSL Database window. The following window displays: Enter number of residents to program (shown as 25) Enter default resident name (shown as John Smith) Enter 4-digit starting dial code (shown as 1001) Enter starting keyless code (this is optional because it is used for reference only--it will not be stored on lobby panel) (shown as 2001) Enter default elevator code-if feature not used, enter 99 (shown as 99) Select default elevator ID-If feature not used, select ID-99 (shown as ID-099) Select default Lobby-ID (shown as ID-02) Enter starting relay code (shown as 0000) Select default NSL-ID (shown as ID-002) 6

Establishing a Direct Connection Note: For Modem connections, skip to Establishing a Modem Connection on page 9. For Direct Cable Connection Operation 1. From the TAS-2000 Control Panel window select Configure Serial. 2. Select Direct Cable Connection and verify that the COM port is set properly. 3. Click OK to continue. Note: The panel ID in the TAS2000 software must be set correctly in order to Upload or Download data. 4. Verify the Lobby Panel ID by checking the SW2 DIP switch settings on the main board in the lobby panel. Refer to the TAS-2000 Series Installation and Operation Manual for the DIP switch settings. 5. Note the panel ID and select the same lobby-id in the TAS-2000 software. 7

Establishing a Direct Connection 6. From the Control Panel window select Options and select the appropriate panel ID from the list. 7. Click OK to continue. 8. Click Login on the Control Panel screen. 9. When finished, go to Uploading Data (Lobby Panel to PC) on page 11. 8

TAS-2000 MSW-003 Software Manual Establishing a Modem Connection Note: For Direct connections, go to Establishing a Direct Connection on page 7. For Modem (MDM-1000A) Operation 1. From the TAS-2000 Control Panel window select Configure Serial. The window below displays. 2. Select Modem. 3. Type the telephone number that the TAS-2000 Lobby Panel is using. 4. Verify that the COM port is set properly and the correct baud rate is selected. 5. Click OK to continue. Note: The panel ID in the TAS2000 software must be set correctly in order to Upload or Download data. 6. Verify the Lobby Panel ID by checking the SW2 DIP switch settings on the main board in the lobby panel. Refer to the TAS-2000 Series Installation and Operation Manual for the DIP switch settings. 7. Note of the panel ID and select the same lobby-id in the TAS2000 software. 9

Establishing a Modem Connection 8. Select Options From the Control Panel window and select the appropriate lobby-id from the list. 9. Click Modem Dialup on the Control Panel screen. 10. Wait until Connect 2400 is displayed near the bottom of the screen, then click Login to complete the connection. When connected, the status bar will indicate Logged In. 10

TAS-2000 MSW-003 Software Manual Uploading Data (Lobby Panel to PC) 1. Click the Upload Data button. Note that it will over-write records that have the same lobby ID in the database file. 2. Click OK to continue.you will be prompted to upload the events log. 3. Click Yes to upload both the database and events log, or No to upload the database only. The status bar at the bottom of the screen will display the upload progress as shown below. 4. Click the Logout button when finished. 11

Downloading Data (PC to Lobby Panel) Downloading Data (PC to Lobby Panel) 1. Click the Download Data button. Note that it will over-write existing information on the lobby panel. 2. Click OK to download to the TAS-2000 Lobby Panel. The status bar at the bottom of the screen will display the download progress as shown below. 3. Click Logout button when finished. 12

Troubleshooting Guide Troubleshooting Guide Port is Already Used If the following message is displayed, verify that the correct COM port is selected and connected to the proper connector on your PC. No System Detected If the following message is displayed, check cable connections, and ensure that the correct Lobby ID is selected in the Options menu. Runtime Error 3024. If the following message is displayed, ensure that your job file is in the TAS- 2000 installation directory. The default location is: C:\Program Files\TAS 2000\. 14
