The Polytechnic of Western Australia (Polytechnic West) is one of the largest providers of Vocational Education and Training (VET) and Higher Education (HE) courses in Western Australia. We offer more than 380 VET qualifications and nine HE courses across a wide range of trade, technical and professional disciplines. We are government owned and operated, with around 30,000 students, including more than 1000 international students from 70 countries, studying with us each year. With a rich history of providing training solutions to industry, Polytechnic West has expanded to offer a variety of training options for numerous corporate clients and employers who prefer Polytechnic West as their training provider of choice. We are committed to enhancing tertiary education and training options for employers and individuals through cutting edge facilities and technology, lecturers with real industry expertise, and learning programs designed with significant input from industry. This ensures highly skilled, job-ready graduates. KEY CAPABILITIES SKILLS SPECIFIC TO INDUSTRY NEEDS Polytechnic West regularly delivers education and training programs offshore. Customised training is developed to meet specific industry and employer needs, and can be delivered both in Australia and overseas. EXPERIENCED OFFSHORE TRAINING PROVIDER In addition to the delivery of nationally accredited English language, vocational training, and higher education courses to international students in Western Australia, Polytechnic West is continuously expanding the number of offshore training programs through collaborative partnerships established with reputable overseas organisations. Part of Polytechnic West s proven capability is our delivery of industry specific skill sets, or nationally accredited qualifications in international markets for companies, industry groups and foreign government, as well as offshore skills assessment and gap training. Our offshore experience includes China, Japan, South Africa, Philippines, India, Sri Lanka, United Kingdom and Malaysia. The Polytechnic West International Business and Services team s key role is to identify and develop new and viable international business opportunities, aligned to Polytechnic West s capabilities and strategic interests. International work has been a critical aspect of our training activities for nearly 20 years. Our areas of specialisation include: Vocational education consultancy services Competency-based vocational training delivery (accredited, skill sets, and customised) Training needs analysis and skills audits Onshore and offshore teaching staff training, such as Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Onshore and offshore skills assessment (Polytechnic West forms part of the consortium that has been approved to provide skills assessment for the provision of the General Skills Migration (GSM) on behalf of the Australian Government) Provision of curriculum and learning materials.
INTERNATIONAL CAPABILITY STATEMENT NATIONALLY ACCREDITED QUALIFICATIONS WITH INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION A nationally recognised qualification from Polytechnic West will open doors to a new world of exciting possibilities. The qualifications delivered by Polytechnic West are recognised by employers and leading education institutions around the world. Australia s government-owned training institutions, such as Polytechnic West, rank among the top three international Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) providers in the world. Polytechnic West is a government owned Registered Training Organisation (RTO) in Australia and as such, are fully compliant with the national set of standards which assures consistent, high-quality training and assessment services for the clients of Australia s vocational education and training system. Polytechnic West is also registered under the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS 00020G/01723A) to enable the delivery of programs to international students in Australia. As required under Western Australian legislation, all international onshore students and students studying in Australian states other than Western Australia are enrolled through Education Training International (ETI), part of the Western Australian Government s Department of Training and Workforce Development. Polytechnic West partners with ETI to provide the highest quality training, and international onshore students will be issued with a combined ETI and Polytechnic West testamur at the successful conclusion of their studies. ENGLISH LANGUAGE TRAINING Polytechnic West s English Language Centre offers a range of entry level English language and English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) programs, which are officially accredited by the National English Language Training Accreditation Scheme (NEAS). We are also a member of English Australia (EA), the peak professional body for all accredited English language centres in Australia. HIGHER Education Our higher education diplomas and associate degrees are developed with input from industry to ensure graduates are prepared to practically apply their skills in the workplace. Higher education qualifications at Polytechnic West are designed to create a pathway for students to continue their study, with articulation arrangements in place to enable transition from Polytechnic West s vocational training programs and also a number of agreements with universities for articulation into bachelor degree programs.

OUR INTERNATIONAL CLIENTS Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC) Institute Pte Ltd In an endeavour to keep abreast of the technological advancements in furniture making, and to be in a position to offer government funded training programs, SFIC Institute approached Polytechnic West to develop and deliver specific skills set training selected from the Certificate II in Furniture Making in Singapore, under a sub-contract arrangement. The partnership was formalised in February 2014, creating the opportunity for the two organisations to work collaboratively to develop a new product to suit the Singaporean Government s plan to introduce a Creative Craftsman Apprenticeship Program. Designed in consultation with Polytechnic West, this program is for Singapore citizens who are interested in a career in the furniture industry, and matches approved applicants with interested employers. The curriculum involves both on-the-job training and mentorship sessions with the students new employers, to ensure a seamless transition to the workforce. In addition to the thousands of individual international students who shape their future through Polytechnic West s education and training programs, Polytechnic West s offshore clients range from Government organisations, industry associations, and international corporations through to individual colleges, across a number of countries. Jingchu University of Technology, Hubei Province, China A full-time public university approved by the state Ministry of Education, located in Jingmen City, Hubei Province China, Jingchu University of Technology (JCUT) is a provider of higher education for undergraduate level students. Polytechnic West commenced a transnational educational partnership with JCUT in March 2009 through delivery of the Diploma of Management, under an auspice arrangement. The partnership expanded in 2015 to include delivery of the Diploma of Accounting.
