Sanlorenzo SL76 & SL86 - premiere preview at boot 2015 -- boot Trad... http://www.boat-duesseldorf.com/cipp/md_boot/custom/pub/content,oi... 1 di 1 30/01/2015 14.13 Sanlorenzo SL76 & SL86 - premiere preview at boot 2015</01.15> Boat & yacht debuts at boot Düsseldorf 2015 Sanlorenzo SL76 & SL86 - premiere preview at boot 2015 Login Select Language New standards After two decades of uninterrupted success for SL72 and SL82, the entry-level models of the Grp planing range, Sanlorenzo decided to refresh these two models, committing one of the most reputed Italian design company: Officina Italiana Design managed by Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta. On SL76 and SL86 are applied features to become new standards on all the planing range: the bow is now a living space with sofas, table, sunbathing cushions, and a foldable sun hood. Enjoy the sea The sheerline amid ship was cut to let the larger side windows catch as much light as possible and let the guests enjoy the sea view even sitting on the sofas of the salon. This space on SL 86 is longer 9m, 2.5m more than the previous SL 82, is wider, has more light, but again doesn t affect the typical Sanlorenzo sober line, rather releasing a new freshness. The aim was to optimise and maximise all the spaces and to enrich them with natural light. The stairway to the flybridge has the steps sided by two plate glass. They look like floating. The staircase is no longer a box, but it is still in the salon like a piece of art. Two different layouts The SL86 offers two different layouts, to better match different market requirements. The classic layout has the galley on the main deck and can be arranged as a country kitchen with stalls for the American market. The other layout places the galley on the lower deck, bordering with the crew quarter and freeing a lot of space on the main deck. In this layout the Vip cabin is forward full beam. The flybridge is one of the largest in the category with 41sqm extension and 9sqm just for sunbathing. Moreover, with the light, elegant hard top, this all free, symmetrical space is highly and easily liveable and can be completed with a squared whirlpool. For the outside steering station we conceived a completely new dashboard, discretely integrated in the general soft look of this space. Internationalised models SL76 and SL86 are not only two new, original, innovative yachts, but also a training to develop new features for the larger models of the planing range. Officina Italiana Design did a great job on the strict and demanding Sanlorenzo briefing, aimed to internationalise the new models, to penetrate emerging markets with compact sizes. In a glance at the profile, the style, and the general look of these two new yachts you can easily find out the Italian designers skilled hands, but moreover you immediately recognize a Sanlorenzo.

Sanlorenzo SL 118 http://www.powerandmotoryacht.com/boat-tests/sanlorenzo_sl_118#... 1 di 4 12/01/2015 11.25 BOAT TESTS By Alan Harper THE INFO With its new flagship SL 118, Sanlorenzo tells the world it s here to stay. When Massimo Perotti left his top management position at Azimut Yachts nearly ten years ago to buy out Sanlorenzo from its retiring founder, the Ameglia shipyard was a respected builder of bespoke fiberglass motoryachts, with a notably traditional look. After 50 years in business it had just celebrated completing its 500th vessel, at a time when Azimut was building that many boats in a year. Builder: Sanlorenzo Model: Sanlorenzo SL 118 Year: 2014 LOA: 119'9" Beam: 24'11" Draft: 7'4" Base Price: Upon request Perotti described Sanlorenzo at the time as sleeping. When I wondered why a man with a plum job running one of the most successful boatbuilding operations in Europe would want to take such a risk, he told me: I wanted to test myself. He had been with Azimut for more than 20 years when he decided to quit, and had identified in Sanlorenzo a unique and irresistible opportunity to make his mark: It was a company that had an excellent reputation, a deep well of skills and experience, and serious development potential. Perotti set about waking the shipyard up. In short order a new range of semi-displacement fiberglass yachts was conceived, designed, and put into production, and at the same time he set up a new shipyard in Viareggio to handle very large superyacht orders in steel and aluminum. Then he turned his attention to refreshing the existing product range, an attractively conservative

The Sanlorenzo SL 118 is the new flagship of this planing fiberglass line, which made its debut in the pretty Italian resort of Rapallo this past spring. The shipyard hired the best hotel in town, laid on some quality catering, called the local classic-car club, and transformed the waterfront into a festival of design and engineering, with a host of immaculate sports cars to beautifully set off the lines of the new yacht. (I was rather taken with a little blue Alfa Romeo, but if forced to choose it would have to be the Jaguar XK 120.) Sleek and well-proportioned, the 118 has the sort of subtle styling, courtesy of Francesco Paszkowski, which will probably look as classy in 20 years time as it does today. Sanlorenzo s yachts have always been imbued with a sense of quality, and this first 118 was no exception. A lot of carbon fiber has been used See more photos of the Sanlorenzo SL 118 here to stiffen the superstructure, moldings are vacuum-infused, and all mold tools were manufactured using a computer-controlled five-axis router. The accommodation is founded on floating aluminum frames to aid sound insulation. Indeed, the yacht has an undeniably high-tech core complemented by classic good looks, speeds, and layouts that should serve her well both abroad and in the domestic U.S. markets. George Jousma, president of Sanlorenzo Americas, is optimistic about her prospects. He says, She s got the planing hull, with a cruise around 22 to 24 knots and a top speed of 30, which is appealing. When taking into account her configuration, you might see us competing with Sunseeker, or perhaps the Westport 112. But I think what really sets us apart is the full-beam master, which you re not going to see on a lot of boats like this. Under 53-year-old Perotti s dynamic, new-broom leadership, the yard certainly seems to have woken up, and it claims to have 25 firm orders for yachts of 82 to 200 feet for delivery over the next three years. But the most important thing about Sanlorenzo remains the same as it s always been each boat is built to order and no two are exactly alike. So not only will the décor and interior design reflect the owners requirements and this 118 had a very modern interior featuring a lot of glass and steel, leather flooring in places, and some excellent furnishings by Boffi and Paola Lenti but the layouts will too. One of the first decisions to make will be where to put the galley, and it s not a choice to make lightly. Place the galley down below in the amidships crew area, and you free up extra space on the main deck, which benefits the owner s suite. Alternatively, placing the galley on the main deck means that the crew accommodation can be moved forward, so space lost in the owner s suite is gained down below, in the guest cabins. Our test 118, the first to emerge from the Ameglia assembly sheds, had the lower galley, linked to the main deck with a food lift although in a quirk of this particular 118 s layout, the main dining table onboard is up another level, on the yacht s impressive upper deck. The four relatively modest guest suites are all of similar size, although the aft pair benefit from substantial hull windows and significantly bigger beds. Which brings us to a paradox at the heart of this layout. These guest suites are not big, but they are made to feel quite spacious (see Better Boat: Reflective Design, right), while the owner s suite, with its large head forward and a separate dressing room, occupies a vast area of the main deck, but actually feels quite small. It s odd, and there are two reasons for it. The first is that the main area of the suite is divided longitudinally, by a full-height glass bulkhead, into a sleeping cabin and an office, so there are none of the uninterrupted sightlines that are needed for a big space to actually look big. The second reason concerns the optional balconies. This is a full-beam cabin, naturally, so there are no sidedecks with bulwarks that can be folded down, and no sliding glass side doors. The balconies unfold from the sides of the cabin itself. When they are open the effect is superb. But when they re closed those windows are rather small and rather high. This new flagship will eventually replace the Sanlorenzo 108 in the shipyard s line-up. It has a voluminous, all-new hull which is a foot wider than the 108 s, with a 16-degree deadrise aft and a choice of engines. Our test yacht had twin MTU 2000-series V16s producing some 2,600 horsepower apiece. As an alternative you could specify a pair of the gigantic 4000-series motors, which, although pushing out an additional 545 horsepower each, add considerable weight: nearly six tons per side. It seems like a lot of extra metal for the additional two knots that Sanlorenzo predicts. Predictions can be tricky, of course, and Sanlorenzo s top-speed estimate for our particular 118 proved a little optimistic. We clocked the yacht at just over 26 knots in two directions, which seems pretty respectable considering we were moderately well loaded with
Sanlorenzo SL 118 http://www.powerandmotoryacht.com/boat-tests/sanlorenzo_sl_118#... 3 di 4 12/01/2015 11.25 fuel and water, and had all three tenders stowed in the garage: a Williams jetrib, a Seadoo, and a Jet Ski, which between them added a couple of tons right at the stern. We detected a slight, low-frequency vibration at high speeds too, which Sanlorenzo s engineers felt might possibly be caused by turbulence in the propeller tunnels, and was perhaps exaggerated by the rigidity of the carbon-reinforced superstructure. But the yacht had only recently hit the water, and such teething troubles are usually to be expected. With electronic CMC fin stabilizers keeping it resolutely upright in the tightest turns, the 118 s handling was poised and precise at all speeds. For a vessel of this size it felt remarkably alert awake, even. In rousing Sanlorenzo from its comfortable sleep, Massimo Perotti did more than merely test himself. He undoubtedly secured the shipyard s future. Corporate slumber just hasn t been an option in recent years. But although the new designs and 60-meter superyachts get headlines, he has never lost sight of the fact that the soul of the shipyard lies in the timeless, classic style of craft like the 118 wrapped around a high-tech core, of course. BYRNE With 30+ yachts from 72 to 151 feet (22.78 to 46 meters, respectively) delivered each year, Sanlorenzo has a size that suits nearly every buyer. Nearly wasn t quite enough, though; witness the introduction of the all-fiberglass Sanlorenzo SD112. She pairs well with the SD92 and SD126, for starters. More noteworthy, she offers owners three full decks in a length dominated by two-level yachts. And, as per Sanlorenzo tradition, she welcomes owner input inside. The Central American owner of the simply christened O, hull number one of the series, took full advantage of that. In fact, most conversations this experienced buyer started with the Sanlorenzo of the Americas office during the build reportedly started with, I was thinking While fold-down balconies to each side of the SD112 are standard, O has an unusual saloon. First, there s no dining area carved out of some of the floorspace though dining does take place here. An artist hired by the owner of O crafted sliding stone-faced panels you see next to the TV. They conceal the TV when not in use and a special stowage compartment, to starboard, for a table. That table gets set up between the facing settees. Though tough to see, the backs of the settees are wedges that can also be pushed back to the edges of the cushions, for when guests want to watch TV.

O has the master suite here, while still preserving a main-deck galley. Ports to three sides bring in plenty of light. The suite benefits from a private alfresco area, too. Though not visible, the same stone seen in the saloon lines sliding doors in the entry to the master as well, concealing the head. When the doors are closed, there s no hint of anything other than a solid wall here. Some raised-pilothouse megayachts in this size range also have skylounges, but none arguably like the one aboard O. It s full beam (25 feet, or 7.66 meters), characterized by plentiful walnut wood, even overhead, and cream-tone lacquered panels. The ports to each side do seem narrower than those of comparable yachts these days, but O doesn t appear to suffer. The eight to 10 guests who can join the owner of O aboard will surely spend a lot of time on the main aft deck. Check out the terrific bar, complete with glass stowage, built into the starboard-side superstructure. It s adjacent to a built-in icemaker. They re further proof that Sanlorenzo doesn t limit client input to pillows and the like, and that the owner of O had grand ideas.
Megayacht News Onboard: O, Sanlorenzo SD112 - Megayacht News http://megayachtnews.com/2014/12/megayacht-news-onboard-o-sanlor... 3 di 3 16/12/2014 11.24 The flying bridge of a 112-footer can get awfully crowded when a hot tub, sunpads, a second helm, and seating are put in place. However, the way O is arranged, the deck is cozy. Note the B&G instruments mounted into the mast. Similar units are also above the TV at the alfresco area just outside the skylounge. The captain of O says the owner put an astounding 4,000 miles under her hull in her first season of Med cruising. He s been pleased with the yacht s performance thus far, saying, It s a good sea boat. He adds that cruising between 12 and 14 knots seems best, though pulling back on the twin MTUs to 10 to 12 knots provides good range. Sanlorenzo says best range comes at 11 knots: 2,750 nautical miles. With two additional SD112s delivered this summer, among six ordered so far, Sanlorenzo is finding niches and filling them. The SD series should see about 30 units delivered by year s end. Add to that the SL range, then next year s debut of the 460Exp, a steel-hulled expedition yacht. Doesn t leave much unaddressed though something tells us Sanlorenzo will find yet another solution. Related posts: 1. Motoryacht O, First Sanlorenzo SD112 2. We clocked the yacht at just over 26 knots in two directions, which seems pretty respectable considering we were moderately well loaded with fuel and water, and had all three tenders stowed in the garage: a Williams jetrib, a Seadoo, and a Jet Ski, which between them added a couple of tons right at the stern.
