The following communities offer Community School Classes through Nebo School District. You may obtain additional information regarding classes being offered in any of these communities by calling your local Community School Office. Class lists for the other Nebo School District Communities are in the back of this book. PAYSON COMMUNITY SCHOOL - 465-6031 Payson High School, 1050 South Main, Payson, UT 84651 (Office located in the NE corner of Payson High.) Hours: Monday - Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Closed Fridays! SPANISH FORK COMMUNITY SCHOOL - 798-4068 Spanish Fork High School, 99 North 300 West, Spanish Fork, UT 84660 (Office located on SW side of high school, SE corner of C Building) Hours: Monday - Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Fridays - 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. SPRINGVILLE COMMUNITY SCHOOL - 489-2730 Springville High School, 1205 East 900 South, Springville, UT 84663 (Office located in the high school.) Hours: Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. TO PRE-REGISTER FOR A COMMUNITY SCHOOL CLASS Please fill out the registration form on the back cover of this brochure. Send the form along with your registration fee to the Community School Program where the class is being offered. The addresses of each Community School are listed above. You may also register in person at the Community School Office. Some classes have limited enrollment, so pre-registration is recommended. NEW COMMUNITY SCHOOL CLASSES The goal of the Community School Program is to meet the needs and interests of the people in the community. If you have an idea for a class or activity, call the Community School Office in your area. ADULT EDUCATION All adults age 18 or over who did not graduate with their high school class, but are seeking an adult diploma or wish to prepare to take the GED test, are welcome to call the Nebo Learning Center at 489-2833 or visit

the Center located at 570 S. Main St., Springville. (The old Westside Elementary School). Classes are taught by Steve Willingham Monday and Wednesday between the hours of 3:00 pm and 9:00 pm at the Learning Center (Summer schedule is 3-6 pm Monday and Wednesday). Drop-ins are welcome during these hours, or an appointment may be made with the secretary by calling 489-2833. There is no fee at this time. Classes may be started at any time. GED individualized help is also available in Spanish Fork for those who are ready to take the GED test, but want a quick GED Practice Test review to improve their test skills. Classes are year-round. Contact Jay Cornaby at 798-3181 if interested. Classes are ongoing and there is no fee at this time. Landmark High School s Adult Education program offers a wide variety of methods to meet your adult education needs. Take classes! Work on packets! Earn credits via computer here at school, or on the internet! Get ready for the GED test! Earn your diploma! We will individualize the program to meet your needs. Classes are held Monday through Thursday from 3-6 pm during the regular school year and are free of charge at this time. Call Jeff Baumann at 362-7596 between the hours of 3:00 and 6:00 pm. ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL) (Ingles como una idoma segunda) Nebo School District offers Basic, Intermediate, and advanc ed E.S.L. (English as a Second Language) classes for non-native speakers who need to learn or want to improve their English. Classes are held Monday through Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Nebo Learning Center located at 570 S. Main Str., Springville. They are taught in the computer lab, room 1. Registration is done in class; there is no fee at this time. Classes are available year-around and may be started at any time. If you have questions or need additional information, please call the Learning Center at 489-2833. Hay cuatro niveles (lunes-iv, martes-iii, jueves-i). In the Payson area, ESL classes are taught at the Payson High School on Monday and Wednesday, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm in room C5. GED Preparation class is taught on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in room C5. SPANISH DRIVER EDUCATION CLASS is held on Tuesday & Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:30 p.m. in Room 12 at Nebo Learning Center located at 570 S. Main Street, Springville, phone number 489-2833. Students must be 18 or over to attend. Classes are taught in Spanish only by Rich Richins. The cost is $120 for 12 sessions (twice a week for six weeks) and may be paid in increments (ie. $20.00 per week). Registration and payment are both done in class. Course length: 5 weeks. Please pre-register with the secretary to ensure placement. There is an optional class manual that can be purchased for $10.00. The Parenting Who Care is a researched based program created to help parents build stronger relationships with their pre-teens and teens. The program teaches parents how to talk with their children about important issues, set family policies, and build closer family bonds. Classes are usually taught once a week in a 5-6 week series. All parents will receive a workbook and have an opportunity to check out videos to review material at home. PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS - Birth to 5 Years of Age. Children with special health needs, developmental delays, or at high risk to develop delays often need early intervention to promote optimal development. The following programs are available for eligible young children who reside within the Nebo

School District area: NEBO DISTRICT PRESCHOOL Ages 3-5 Nebo School District provides pre-school services at no charge to developmentally delayed eligible children with severe disabilities. Children are transported by bus to developmentally appropriate pre-school programs and are provided individualized services developed with input from the child s family and a team of professionals. CHILD FIND: Nebo School District officials are attempting to identify all children with disabilities between the ages of three and twenty-one. Disabilities that could interfere with education include: autism, deaf-blindness, deafness, emotional disturbance, hearing impaired, intellectual disabilities, multiple disabilities, orthopedic impairment, other health impaired, specific learning disability, communication disorder, traumatic brain injury, and visual impairment. If you are aware of children who may be eligible for special education services, please contact the Special Education Department of the Nebo School District at 350 S Main, Spanish Fork, or by phone at 354-7416. You may also obtain information from a school principal in your community.
