2 Business Information Management I (BIM I) Ms. Franco Class Description: Students implement personal and interpersonal skills to strengthen individual performance in the workplace and in society and make a successful transition to the workforce and postsecondary education. Students apply technical skills to address business applications of emerging technologies, create word-processing documents, develop a spreadsheet, formulate a database, and make an electronic presentation using appropriate software. This course is recommended for students in Grades Recommended Equipment: 100% computer lab usage required. Software Required: Microsoft Office 2013 Suite; Office 365 (provided by EISD). Course Outline: I. Review Parts of the Computer II. Learn Computer Terms III. Learn About Repetitive Strain IV. Improve Touch-System Keyboarding V. Microsoft Office a. Word (Word Processing Basics) b. PowerPoint (Presentations) c. Excel ( Spreadsheets) VI. OPAC VII. Online Portfolio Classroom Rules: 1. Be in your seat and be quiet when the bell rings. At the end of the class, I will dismiss you. 2. Class assignments are the only work to be done in this class, unless I give permission otherwise. 3. Come to class prepared to work! Bring all materials to class. 4. Cell phones, ipods, MP3 Players, CD Players, headphones, or any other electronic devices are not allowed in class. Unauthorized use will result in confiscation of device. 5. No Internet use without permission. Approved district sites only! 6. No food, gum or drinks in class. 7. No personal grooming in class. 8. When you are absent, you will be responsible for obtaining any assignments, notes, handouts, or exams that you missed.
3 9. All assignments are to be turned in on time. Points will be taken off for late assignments 10. Do not change screen savers, desktops or any computer settings. 11. No profanity. 12. Follow all school rules. Corrective Actions: 1. Verbal warning 2. Change seat 3. Parent phone call 4. Detention 5. Parent conference 6. Administrative referral Classroom Supplies: 1. Will be provided by EISD. Portfolio Requirements: 1. All documents will be placed in Office 365 in a shared folder with Ms. Franco Grading Policies: Grading Scale o A (90-100) B (80-89) C (75-79) D (70-74) F (0-69) Absence Policy o It is your responsibility to ask about missing work. Parents will be called after the third absence, excused or unexcused. Late Work Policy o Late work will lose from 10, 20, to 50 points. Weight of Major Graded Assignments: o Summative Grades (Quizzes, Tests, Projects) = 50% o Formative Grades (Daily Grades) = 50% Teaching Method o Lectures o Handouts o One-on-one Assistance o Observations o Evaluations
4 Edgewood ISD Acceptable Usage Policy Edgenet System: User Acknowledgement Required o Every user of the District s Edgenet System is required to sign an Acceptable Usage Policy Acknowledgement Form stating that he or she has read the Policy and understands and will adhere to the rules set forth. The Acknowledgement Form will be retained in the Technology Department for the length of the employment of the user. Due Process o The District will cooperate fully with local, state, or federal officials in any investigation concerning or relating to any illegal activities conducted through by users of the Edgenet System. In the event there is an allegation that a student has violated the District Acceptable Use Policy, the student will be provided with a written notice of the alleged violation and will be provided with notice and opportunity to be heard in the manner set forth in the Student Hearing Process Policy. Disciplinary actions may be taken.
