What We Do The IS Department provides services to a variety of stakeholders. We provide network and computers to staff employed at City Hall; and support all city functions including Police, Fire, Parks, Planning, and Public Works. This position provides end user technical support and maintains the City s computer system, including installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading hardware, software, phones, networks, and related equipment. Who We Are Looking For The Computer Systems Technician job requirements include an Associate degree in computer science, MIS, or related field and one (1) year of progressively responsible related experience. Starting pay is $21.06 per hour. The Computer Systems Specialist job requirements include a Bachelor s degree in computer science, MIS, or related field and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in implementation, support, and network management. CITY OF MOSCOW CLASS TITLE: COMPUTER SYSTEMS SPECIALIST BASIC FUNCTION: Under supervision of the Information Systems Director, responsible for performing hardware and software installation, compatibility, maintenance, and support for Windows based workstations, server/client based networked computer systems, networked devices, mobile computing devices, and phones and all system users. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The incumbent shall work well under pressure; meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlines. The incumbent shall at all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors. Ensure user problems involving hardware and/or software support are managed and resolved in a timely manner including presenting informal end user training that enhances ability to utilize computer equipment, software, phone systems, and other supported devices. Install, troubleshoot, and update the City s networked workstations and servers in all work locations, including internal components and peripherals. Provide software support by completing complex, full-scale software installations, demonstrating, and assisting users of various levels of computer skills in the operation of a wide variety of new and existing software. Serve as a technician for the City s municipal fiber network. Serve as the primary technician for the City s phone network comprised of analog lines, PRI, fax, VOIP, and other devices. Provide primary responsibility for all inventory tasks including purchasing, inventorying, and disposing of obsolete equipment out of service and record asset disposal using established systems and records of fixed assets for the computer/network inventory. Function as backup operator to record and broadcast public meetings and provide training to other Information Systems staff. Any combination of additional education and experience equivalent to a bachelor s degree in computer science, MIS, or related field with specialized coursework in networking and management information systems, associated hardware, and software; and minimum of four (4) years of experience in network management, implementation, and support.
