Intrductin The Divisin f Enterprise Technlgy s (DET) virtual server envirnment prvides fr the virtualizatin f client perating systems. Virtual perating systems are referred t as Virtual Machines (VMs). The Agency Managed Virtual Services (AMVS) Service Offering Descriptin (SOD) describes the service DET prvides fr the hsting f VMs within the Virtual Infrastructure (VI). The service prvider is the Divisin f Enterprise Technlgy and the service cnsumers are all state agencies wh have subscribed t this service. Service Descriptin The Agency Managed Virtual Services service is designed t prvide subscribers with Virtual Machines hsted at DET Data Centers. These VMs are prvisined by DET at the agency s request. Virtual Machines are assigned resurces by request and are billed by allcated resurces. (See Hw Services Are Charged at the end f this dcument fr details n hw the service is charged back t an agency.) After prvisining, the requesting agency has full cntrl f the VMs and is respnsible fr the management and maintenance f these systems. DET retains management and maintenance f the Virtual Infrastructure. This service is nt meant t accmmdate the agency backup hst, due t the amunt f I/O required fr backup services and the ptential adverse impact n the ther services running n the hst. Service Perid The SOD, Rles and Respnsibilities (RnR) and rate will be reviewed annually t determine if any mdificatins are required. Detailed Service Descriptin Agency Managed Virtual Services (AMVS) prvides a means fr agencies t run and maintain hsted servers in a virtual infrastructure (VI) maintained by DET. AMVS is a lwer-cst slutin that takes advantage f imprvements in virtualizatin and the ptential cst savings f a virtual envirnment while allwing fr segregatin f server systems t meet requests and requirements f state agencies. AMVS relieves agencies f the cncern fr management f hardware, warranty, and assciated infrastructure required t supprt the hsted server systems; it becmes the respnsibility f DET in the management f the VI built t supprt the hsted server systems. DET is prviding a VI fr the hsting f perating systems. Benefits f the VI: Ptentially lwer perating system licensing csts Micrsft Windws Server Datacenter and SUSE Linux licenses are included by DET in the cst f the service Ptentially lwer licensing csts fr server applicatins Sftware vendrs that license prducts may license at the hardware level instead f the VM level.
