Mapping the Pathways: Adult Learning in Greater Moncton Table of Content 1. Access Centers 2. Adult High School and GED 3. Literacy Training 4. Non-Formal Adult Learning 5. Universities and Colleges 1. ACCESS CENTERS The Community Access Program (CAP) was developed by Industry Canada to help communities in Canada's rural and remote settings to obtain affordable public access to the Internet and the skills to use it effectively. Access to the Information Highway will help create new and exciting opportunities for growth and jobs by providing these communities with the ability to communicate with each other, conduct business, enhance job skills and exchange information and ideas. CAP works with rural Canadian communities to take advantage of new communication technologies. CAP's goal is to foster economic, social, and cultural growth in Canada. All CAP sites are community-based, with a variety of provincial, territorial, and national partnerships supporting these local initiatives. Also helping to guide the program are Industry Canada's regional CAP reps, CAP's Provincial/Territorial Review Committees, Special Provincial Agencies, and the CAP National Advisory Committee. 5. UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES Atlantic Baptist University The Degree Completion Program is a non-traditional program serving adults who have already completed some post-secondary education, and who now would like to complete their Bachelor's Degree. Students typically are employed full-time during the day; thus the program is offered in the evening. Students meet one night per week over a 24-month period in the program, complete their course requirements on their own schedule, and earn 60 credit hours. Classes are facilitated in a manner that is conducive to learning for adults. An atmosphere of shared family, career, and age interests develop among the adult learners.
