This 2012 news is particularly exciting because Levy contracts come up every 7 years, and this was the big year. Not only was our pre-school Levy funding renewed for 7 more years, but we also received new Levy funding for our school age programs, which help children both academically and emotionally. Stay tuned for new academic achievement data being measured this year, in collaboration with Seattle Public Schools. As we head into the new school year, CDSA is grateful for the Levy support of all our programs!

TAF offered 4 week classes in computers & robotics for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders at CDSA Madrona and Maple. Knowing how future careers can be launched at a young age, we re thrilled to provide this kind of 21st century learning experience for our CDSA kids. This new partnership was such a success that we re seeking funding to help roll this program out to more CDSA sites next summer. CDSA was chosen as a community partner to join with 4 schools for this exciting program funded in part by The Hearst Foundation. The project is focused on 21st century skills in areas of Science and Technology, Language, and Social Sciences. It will incorporate both hands on learning for children, as well as professional development training for our teachers. Gearing up for the program, CDSA children visited EMP during Summer Camp. Pictured above is one of our CDSA Madrona 1st graders, enjoying an interactive listening station during his visit to EMP.
Corporate Sponsors Argosy Cruises The chance to ride an Argosy Cruises boat ride was a huge treat for kids, who enjoyed perfect weather, and exciting, wind-in-your-face upper deck views of Seattle and the Olympic mountains! Once they arrived, kids beached combed, explored forts and marveled at giant driftwood. Highlights included seeing deer, bald eagles, crabs, a 15 legged starfish (pictured above), and even discovering a piece of sea kelp formed in the shape of a heart. Also high on the list was splashing in the sun! After a sack lunch by the woods, children got to watch the amazing Salish Indian Cultural Show and Dance. The group returned filled with stories to share with their families. We re grateful to Argosy Cruises for a fabulous day! CDSA Goes to the Zoo! On top of it all, it was one of our 1st great Seattle sunny days. Thank you to Woodland Park Zoo!
