Barrier ring - Standard to ALL models This gives strength beyond the bowl for safety and body rigidity. In the unlikely event of a rotor explosion all fragments (which, with high g-force may weigh as much as 1-3 tons!) will be contained safely within. The remainder of the box is made from a mixture of steel and aluminium. NO plastics here, solid metals, but with no sharp edges for those rubber glove users. Gas or springs - Standard to ALL models These support the 3 mm steel and 12 mm polypropylene lid from falling forward onto your hand. Quality german lid locks -Standard to ALL models. As the centrifuge cannot be run without the lid being shut. We use the best lid locks to hold down the lid. The sensor in this lock does not allow the unit to run unless correctly closed. An emergency lid release is provided to use in the event of a power failure. Body Stainless steel bowl - Standard to ALL models. All our bowls are made from the best quality stainless steel and are batch tested for corrosion with a 25 % salt solution for 24 hours. The section is 2.5-3mm and is much thicker than any bowl used by others. Page0 Page 3
Industrial grade inverter - Standard to ALL models This is the high voltage power unit to the motor and is extremely important for speed control, acceleration, deceleration and vector drive for efficiency, therefore keeping the motor at it s best and running cool. The type used is by the leading inverter company in the world and is normally used for industrial and much harder task use than our needs. The reliability is exceptional. EMC filter - Standard to ALL models Centurions own filter is made by a well known company specially for us. To comply with one of the CE requirements, our filters comply to reduce both radiated and transmitted EMC to the correct levels as the standards set. Electrical induction motor - Standard to ALL models Manufactured by the best german motor company, reliability and longlife is a prerequisite. These motors are standard to our entire range and are also used by other leading manufacturers. Power Mains Imbalance, tachometer - Standard to ALL 2015 Models Made by the leading UK surface mount company. This original and inventive unit pushes the boundaries of imbalance detection. Two, three axis sensors are used, all three axis are in play. Z axis for correct bench use, making sure it is level and correction for X and Y which are used for both out of balance and tube ruptures at speed. All axis are in use giving six possible levels for maximum safety and motor longevity. All shut down the centrifuge at its maximum braking,controlling and stopping fast, the rotor.
ALL Circuit boards are compliant with ROHS regulations LED board. Display view Made by the leading UK surface mount company. This is a derivative of our long term board used over the past 25 years. However surface mount, smaller components, the latest processor and substantially higher memory means more features, increased data available for rotor needs and processing. LEDs are bright blue for clarity. ALL circuit boards have our unique test system as standard specially for your Service department. Refrigerated Centrifuges. ALL of our refrigerated centrifugesuse Embraco compressors and Lueva condensers, the premium brands in refrigeration. Both are manufactured in Europe. Centurions control of temperature is unsurpassed.by using a gas bypass valve and keeping the compressor running, we control the temperature to levels beyond our competitors who simply turn the compressor on and off. Our method saves precious electricity and prolongs the compressor life. See refrigerated manuals overleaf for a graphic example. Talking of graphs every refrigerated unit is tested to minimum / maximum temperature and at 4 C with a high speed rotor. A copy is sent with every unit to show its conformity. Centrifuges Refrigerated ALL use high quality copper tube around the bowl packed extremely tightly and heat compound added. This heat exchanger is incredibly efficient, and specific length capillary tube is used thereafter. The controlling solenoid is mobilised by a solid state relay, which in turn is controlled by our state of the art circuit board and is tuned by multi layer PID software. As in ALL our ranges, a barrier ring is used, the same high quality german motors, same Industrial grade Inverters, best quality lid locks and the bodies are made from a mixture of aluminium & steel. Temperature control At Centurion, we have taken temperature control seriously. We keep the refrigeration unit in the refrigerated centrifuges running constantly, as this not only gives the compressor a longer and more reliable life, but stops the constant surges of power. Due to the fact that the refrigeration unit is running constantly it is quite usual to see ice in the chamber even at above 0 C temperatures. To maintain the temperature, we have a highly efficient bypass solenoid which feeds hot gas from the compressor to the system, via a highly accurate controller system (PID controller, which calculates and manages the temperature). By running both in conjunction with each other gives better overall temperature control, achieving the desired set temperature. Centrifuges Imagine using a shower: you turn on the both the cold and hot water, adjusting to suit your desired temperature. You would not want to use one where you had to stand under the cold water, then the hot, then the cold in order to regulate the temperature. Refrigerated Please see the graph that compares our system to another brand leader. Centurion has a set temperature of 3 C, and our competitor of 4 C. This allows us to separate the target areas, to show how each machine regulates the temperature. Both refrigeration units use the same air probes, temperature units, and have the probes set at the same distance from the rotor, and finally, the correct vertical distance, optimum to the tube area. But as you can see, we control to 0.3 C, whereas our competitor controls it to 3 C. The Centurion s control is unsurpassed, and our competitor s, which all use the same method of turning the compressor on and off, is shown to have very poor control.
Rotors Highest quality materials are used from Polypropylene, which has incredible chemical resistance, Delrin for our small rotors, which has high strength and Aircraft grade HE15 Aluminum for high speed and large rotors, double anodised for resistance. All rotors are checked via our own balance system derived from our imbalance detection circuit and adjusted accordingly. Retested, then during the order process tested again in the designated unit purchased. Like our centrifuges, ALL are guaranteed for 3 years from invoiced date. A range of Reducers are available for the Fixed angle rotors and a huge range of adaptors available for the swing out rotors. Special tubes can be catered for under application Rotors
