Letter of Introduction To Whom it May Concern, I am currently serving as the director of technology at the American School of Warsaw. For more than 12 years, I have successfully guided schools to strengthen, deepen and broaden student learning through the effective and wise use of technology. I believe how we teach and learn is far more important than what we use to teach and learn. Over the last few years I have come to believe computer science and computational thinking is foundational to preparing our students for the life ahead of them. I am seeking to grow from an educational technology leader to a teacher of computer science. I am a technology skeptic and a technology evangelist. I believe when technology merely substitutes old practices, it can hinder and harm learning. However, when technology is used to personalize learning, it can be wonderfully innovative and transformative. I am certified school building and district leader in New York State, and have held educational technology certifications in New York and Massachusetts. I am a strong project manager, excellent communicator and developer of shared leadership. I have strong technical skills and strong education skills. I am a superb explainer. I have worked with kids and helped others for my entire professional life. I love teaching, and watching a kid get it really lights me up. I am very interested in effective education, learning theory, assessment, and learning. My interest in computer games began in the heady days of Zork and Infocom, and has continued since. Combining games in education has been a natural and fluid process. I am committed to getting it right, to use games to create lasting understandings across content areas and disciplines. I have innovative and leading ideas how digital games can be successfully used in education to improve student learning. I am very interested in leveraging gamification into learning and other areas within an organization. When I was in sixth grade, my math teacher brought a computer into our classroom. A week later, I was teaching the class how to program (really). I have administered technology at every level of the OSI chain; I am most at home with Linux systems and LAMP stacks. I develop web applications, writing custom web applications that really help organizations work better. I am most happy when I can teach computer science and develop web applications. My work needs to be meaningful. I put my heart into my work, I am passionate about what I do I want my commitment to an organization to be reciprocated. That the work I do makes this world a better place. I shun certain corporate cultures that can t see a bigger picture and context other than profit. Hire me and we can make this world a better place. I am married to a wonderful and beautiful human being, Dagmara, and I have a 6 year old daughter. I am learning Polish. Specialties: Teaching, effective IT leadership and management, educational technology management, international educational technology, educational technology leadership, games and learning, web application development, LAMP stack management, and technology in education
