CARRIERS AND CONNECTIVITY OVERVIEW Internal Connectivity Connectivity is a key driver for selecting a data center. Most financial services clients select a data center location based on proximity to execution venues and market data sources. The Equinix New York Campus is home to one of the largest financial ecosystems in the world. Here, Equinix houses more than 350+ market participants, 30+ execution venues and 60+ specialized financial services vendors. All of these companies are just a cross connection away for anyone with servers located in the Equinix New York Metro IBX data centers. Cross connections can be brought live in 24-48 hours, giving you fast access to scalable bandwidth connectivity at a fixed monthly cost. External Connectivity While internal connectivity is a key driver, more than 80% of the connections established by Equinix financial customers terminate off-premise. Broad network diversity ensures Equinix clients have the broadest choice of options when connecting to customers and counterparties located outside the data center. Focus on Network Diversity and Density In 2000, several major IP backbones established strategic interconnection hubs in Equinix s network-neutral data centers. Since then, Equinix has continued to attract the top networks, carriers, Internet services and extranet providers in Equinix locations around the globe. Today, Equinix customers have access to the largest number of networks and carriers among any competing data center provider. Robust and Diverse Options The New York Metro Campus boasts more than 125 different networks, carriers, dark fiber providers and extranets. This diversity creates opportunity for Equinix clients to design networks and select carriers based on their specific business drivers such as high bandwidth, low-latency, global connectivity, cost control or a mix of these priorities. Carriers in the New York Metro data centers connect to all the major financial centers in North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America. By interconnecting with international carriers directly, clients can bypass third-party networks to improve performance and reduce latency. Cost Control Because of the carrier density inside Equinix facilities, our clients do not incur local loop charges to establish connections. All that is needed is a cross-connect costing a flat monthly rate. Crossconnects allow a maximum capacity of 10 Gbps for one low monthly fee. This represents substantial savings and increased capacity compared to local loop connections. As a result, firms needing high bandwidth and/or connectivity to a number of providers will capture significant cost savings by taking advantage of connectivity within Equinix. ECOSYSTEM REPORT NEW YORK METRO AREA CARRIERS AND CONNECTIVITY OVERVIEW 6

Time-to-Market Equinix installs cross connections within one to two business days, enabling firms to quickly connect to clients and capture order flow. Compared to the time frame required for ordering a private line, this can mean that firms establish connections to clients in a much shorter time frame, delivering a faster time to revenue at a lower cost per connection. High Speed Fiber Connections between IBX Data Centers The Equinix New York Metro IBX data centers are housed in multiple buildings which are directly connected by fiber between the campuses. This provides clients with very low-latency connectivity to clients, data providers and execution venues housed in other Equinix IBX data centers. EXTRANET PROVIDERS Equinix hosts nine financial extranet providers which play important roles in equities, options, futures, fixed income, foreign exchange and derivatives data distribution and trading. FACILITIES OVERVIEW Best-In-Class Data Centers Equinix is a best-in-class data center provider with 100+ facilities that span the globe. We deliver operational expertise, standards compliance, world-class physical security and high-performance ecosystems so you can focus on what you do best. And, unlike data center providers that have a competing telecommunications or extranet business, Equinix is a neutral provider of core facilities. Our neutrality ensures we attract the broadest, most diverse range of firms in all areas of expertise and it allows us to focus our capital and resources on what we do best. Continued Capital Investment Equinix currently has eight strategically located facilities in the New York metro area with more than 824,000 square feet of space. The New York Metro area continues to receive substantial capital investment. SECURITY Building Security All points of entry and exit are monitored with intrusion detection systems, video surveillance, and an access control subsystem that uses hand geometry readers. A mantrap separates the lobby from the data center area and is sealed by interlocked, automatic doors made with bulletproof Lexan. Only one door can be opened at a time to prevent unauthorized intrusion. Customers must pass through five separate checkpoints to access a customer cage. In addition, every visitor is digitally photographed as they enter the facility, and all building access events are logged and archived. Security personnel are on staff 24x7. They monitor the entrance guard station, routinely walk the facility, and monitor hundreds of surveillance cameras. Cage Security Access to cages is controlled by a keyed cage door lock that is controlled by a hand geometry reader at the cage entrance. Cabinets in shared environments include self-powered keypad activated locks. Cages are monitored by cameras directed at the cage doorway. Monitoring Equinix security personnel monitor more than 17,000 different points of interest in the buildings, including such things as air pressure throughout the fire suppression system, airflow in the air handling units, temperature in the air handlers and in hundreds of spots within the IBX facility to detect hot spots, fuel levels in the storage tanks, battery capacity, etc. ECOSYSTEM REPORT NEW YORK METRO AREA FACILITIES OVERVIEW 9

CABINETS AND CONNECTIVITY Cages and Cabinets Cages are available either with open 2-post racks, 4-post cabinets, or enclosed cabinets with locking doors. The standard cabinet offers 19 standard EIA rack width as an open 4-post cabinet. Other options are available, including cabinets with 23 standard EIA rack width cabinets. Cable Management Cables are held in overhead tamper-proof cable tray systems. This makes cabling visible for security monitoring and also simplifies installation and management. Cabling is dropped from the trays into the cabinets. Interconnections between customers are provided with physical fiber, CAT-5 or coaxial cables. INFRASTRUCTURE Equinix IBX infrastructure is the industry standard for premium colocation facilities. Our IBX colocation areas provide the optimal operating conditions for your equipment. Power Power is overwhelmingly the most pressing data center concern for financial markets participants. Power density must be high enough to support the servers used without leaving hundreds of square feet empty. The New York IBX centers are designed to provide the infrastructure and power density needed by the most sophisticated technology and high-end servers. Power enters the facility via two 26 kv three-phase utility feeds following diverse paths. Power enters the Main Switch Room where the switchgear feeds six transformers. These transformers transform the power into 480 volt, threephase power. Then the six transformers feed six 2,500 amp main switchboards (MSB) housed in each Electrical Room. Each MSB includes two uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems (each an independent) that feed power to remote power panels into the customer colocation space. Resilience The Equinix IBX centers deliver the most reliable uptime availability in the industry. We build our data centers with full UPS power, backup systems, and N+1 (or greater) redundancy with a proven industry-leading 99.9999% uptime record in 2014. Our Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems prevent power spikes, surges and brownouts while redundant backup diesel generators provide additional fuel to keep the data center powered up in the event that public utility fails. Generators There are a total of seven diesel-powered generators rated at 2500 kw / 3125 kva each and operate in an N+2 configuration. The generators are exercised and tested under full load conditions on a biweekly basis. Fuel for the generators is stored in 500 gallon day tanks and also in two aboveground 30,000 fuel storage tanks. On-site fuel capacity (60,000 gallons) provides up to 48 hours of emergency power. In the event of a power interruption, critical customer loads are supported via UPS systems, with no interruption in power, by using the backup batteries as a momentary source of electricity until the generators are online. When voltage sensing equipment and the logic control system sense a power interruption, the generators are brought online within eight seconds. The electrical load is then transferred to the generators for the duration of the utility power outage. ECOSYSTEM REPORT NEW YORK METRO AREA FACILITIES OVERVIEW 10

Cooling Higher power blade servers and other equipment routinely deployed by financial services participants create demanding and sophisticated cooling requirements. Equinix s robust Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning (HVAC) system is a key differentiating feature of the premium infrastructure at our IBX centers. Each IBX is completely fitted for precision HVAC systems to provide optimum conditions for equipment operation and to minimize downtime due to equipment failure. The HVAC system provides appropriate airflow, temperature and humidity required to provide optimal conditions for your equipment. There are 21 air handlers removing and filtering all hot air from the colocation floor. These air handlers N+4 redundant design, meaning there are four separate backup systems to prevent failure. The cooling system utilizes electric water-cooled centrifugal-compressor chillers in an N+1 configuration. Chilled water is delivered to multiple central station air-handling units via two closed loops that run horizontally outside of each side of the colocation floor. Cooling system components and subsystems are distributed across the independent buses so that an individual bus failure does not impair full cooling capacity and operation. Reserve water is stored in an above ground reserve storage tank. Fire Detection and Suppression Equinix IBX centers are constructed with cutting-edge fire detection and suppression systems that limit the potential for damage in the event of a fire. Key features of the fire detection and suppression system include multi-zoned, dry pipe, water-based fire suppression systems with sensory mechanisms (sniffers) and dual alarms (heat and/or smoke activation). In order for the system to trip, multiple cross-linked events must occur. These include detection by ceiling mounted smoke-heads and smoke sniffers located throughout the facility. Lastly a sprinkler head valve must open in order for the dry-pipe system to activate. This requires a temperature of 165 degrees F at the head location. Water enters the fire suppression system only in the event of two cross-zone alarms, and will only disperse in the event of a broken or melted sprinkler-head. Any water discharge is sprinkler-head specific, limiting the potential for damage caused by over-spray. Additionally the IBX has a very early smoke detection alarm system (VESDA). This system measures a sample of air at adjustable periods of time. If this sample is different from the reference sample that the machine has taken, it will trigger an alarm. Flood Control Equinix IBX centers have the following flood control features to ensure that, in the event of a flood, equipment damage is minimized and/or prevented: Tightly sealed conduits Moisture barriers on exterior walls Dedicated pump rooms Drainage/evacuation systems Moisture detection sensors Earthquake Structural systems at Equinix IBX centers meet or exceed seismic design requirements of local building codes for lateral seismic design forces. Equipment and nonstructural components, including cabinets, are anchored and braced. ECOSYSTEM REPORT NEW YORK METRO AREA FACILITIES OVERVIEW 11

SSAE 16 CERTIFIED The primary New York IBX data centers serving the financial services industry are SSAE16 Type II compliant. This means that an independent third party has evaluated the controls and testing, and that the auditor has verified both that the controls are suitably designed to meet their control objectives and have been implemented effectively for a period of time. BUSINESS CONTINUITY Using our IBXflex space family of products, our customers have developed branch office business continuity solutions to monitor their operations. Shared or dedicated facilities provide business continuity for trading rooms and other front and back office functions. The facilities include: Trading workstations with multiple monitors, trading turrets and voice recorders Back-office workstations Low-latency connections to market data providers Desktops customized to mirror users existing proprietary environments Data can be recovered from remote storage or be managed in a hot/hot configuration ECOSYSTEM REPORT NEW YORK METRO AREA FACILITIES OVERVIEW 12

DEPLOYMENT CONSIDERATIONS There are a range of considerations that affect your ability to scale and adapt to continuing market evolution efficiently, both now and in the future. The following stepped process will help you make more informed decisions regarding the total cost and benefit of your critical trading infrastructure deployment. 1. Determine Trading Targets Transaction / execution venues: Include all asset classes Actionable data sources 2. Establish Providers of the Spokes List all metro or regional providers for each feed or service Highlight providers that can link multiple end points (to reduce the number of vendors) Research messaging bandwidth and associated peaks for each feed (The SIIA s FISD Internationally or FIF is a good source for US capacity projections) 3. Identify Backbone Providers Between Cities Establish candidate providers between regions or markets Check route diversity between redundant providers of long-haul services (remember recent submarine cable cuts) Look for offerings that match technical and budgetary requirements Be sure to check latency (measured versus SLA) for each vendor and offering 4. Determine Adjacency Requirements Critical vendor list is often determined by: Most sensitive to latency Execution speed of the venue Outbound bandwidth and protocol Remember vendors that are on your critical path: Inbound aggregate feed providers Outbound real-time or pre-trade risk analytics There will be multiple critical vendors in each city (at multiple locations) 5. Hubs or Datacenters Tally the spoke and backbone connectivity providers and look for the greatest overlap within the datacenter (not just the building) Look to consolidate vendors to achieve economies of scale and scope Hubs will act as pivot points for present and future connectivity requirements Remember the 80/20 rule: 80% of cross connects will link to networks providing off-premise connectivity Your datacenter selection will determine your network expense trajectory or cost to scale GUIDE Planning Tool Equinix maintains a proprietary database of data centers, network and connectivity providers, trading venues, service providers, and other important endpoints in an easy to use online planning tool. GUIDE can save hours in the deployment assessment and planning process. Contact Equinix for a demonstration and to request a login. ECOSYSTEM REPORT NEW YORK METRO AREA DEPLOYMENT CONSIDERATIONS 13
