Global Online MBA Programme details Programme content Pre-study modules You will complete online pre-study modules before you join us on campus the Accounting Primer, Mathematics Primer and Quantitative Methods. These modules ensure that all students have the knowledge and skills required for the start of the programme. Core modules Core modules build rapidly on your previous experience, while introducing new and challenging disciplines. You will cover the general functions of management, explore essential business topics and acquire the skills to be an effective and inspiring leader in whatever career you choose. Each core and elective module lasts for 10 weeks. You will need to devote a minimum of 15 hours each week to study. The Global Online MBA consists of the following key components: There are six core modules, carefully designed for online learning. Each module provides you with a solid grounding in business theory and practice. The emphasis is on applied learning, giving you a chance to test your understanding through case studies and simulations. Students are placed in diverse syndicate groups. These groups consist of students from a variety of cultural and industry backgrounds to ensure that you gain the widest possible perspective from your MBA experience. Global Online MBA Programme details The Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Design module (IE and D) IE and D provides you with a practical opportunity to apply and integrate what you ve learnt in Year 1 and enables you to think more strategically when faced with the challenges of bringing new ideas to market. Alongside a series of lectures on the topics of innovation, design and entrepreneurship, you will take part in a unique business simulation where you will analyse the innovative needs of a large multinational and develop a business case for the company to grow. This business case is as relevant to someone exploring innovation within an organisation as it is if you are planning to start your own business. During this two-week project at the start of your second year, you will work on-campus in groups of students with complementary skills and personalities. The module breaks down the entrepreneurial journey into four stages which you will explore with the help of the IE and D Toolbox, a comprehensive online resource of articles, web links, slides, videos and more. You will also receive coaching sessions provided by a professional team of coaches and academics throughout the module. The IE and D module is an exciting and challenging project where the knowledge and skills you gain are highly transferable to whatever career you pursue. 21 22

Global Online MBA Programme details The Final Project The final project allows you to put the theory taught on the MBA into practice. You ll develop specialised expertise by researching a real business issue and influence real commercial outcomes, as your recommendations are implemented by your sponsoring organisation. This project is an essential part of the Global Online MBA experience. It requires you to submit a report of up to 15,000 words for assessment. Your report must have a critical, evaluative or analytical element, and add value by creating something new in terms of method, application, ideas and knowledge. Projects range from consultancy assignments to theoretical analyses and are often sponsored by companies. You can also do your project with your own organisation. The project is completed during the summer period of your second year. 23 24

From the homepage you can quickly view, reply and swipe through these communications via the intuitive Hub interface. This includes new documents added to your courses, new communications from Faculty or fellow students, assignment grades and feedback. We believe that online technologies have finally reached the stage at which it is possible to deliver the Imperial MBA programme online. The Personal Leadership Journey is an integral part of your MBA experience, and you will need to complete a number of different exercises and assignments. Global Online MBA Programme details Faculty: our world-renowned experts Professor Tommaso Valletti Professor of Economics Professor Andreas Eisingerich Professor in Marketing Professor James Sefton Chair in Economics Our faculty are internationallyrenowned leaders in their chosen fields of business practice. They combine deep theoretical knowledge from their cutting-edge research with the latest practical insights from their extensive work with industry and government. Professor Valletti s main research interests are in industrial economics, regulation, and telecommunications economics. He has a magna cum laude degree in engineering from Turin and holds an MSc and a PhD in economics from the London School of Economics. Professor Valletti is Academic Director of the Centre for Regulation in Europe (www.cerre. eu) in Brussels. He is also a Fellow of CEPR and a member of the panel of academic advisers to Ofcom, the UK communications regulator. Professor Eisingerich focuses a large proportion of his studies and teaching on the concept of innovation. He earned his Master s and Doctorate from the University of Cambridge, Judge Business School. Much of Professor Eisingerich s research on innovation has been widely published and translated into several languages. He also acts as a reviewer for a number of marketing journals and is best known for his work on consumer engagement and communication strategies, brand management and service innovation. Professor Sefton has published widely in areas as varied as computable general equilibrium modelling, national accounting, portfolio management and econometrics. He received his PhD in systems theory from Cambridge University. Professor Sefton previously worked in industry as a Senior Quantitative Analyst at UBS, where he specialised in understanding asset pricing anomalies and equity investment strategies. Their combination of published research and consultancy work for commercial clients means our academic staff use the real challenges of current business situations to provide up-to-date practical illustrations of the latest thinking and theory. 31 Professor Jonathan Haskel Chair in Economics Professor Haskel s main research interests are productivity, innovation, intangible invest and growth. His current research includes study of how much firms investment in intangible or knowledge assets, such as software, R&D and new business processes, how much such investment contributes to economic growth as whole and what public policy implications there might be, especially for science policy. Professor Haskel has just finished eight years as a Member of the UK Competition Commission, including serving on the panel investigation into British Airports Authority. Dr Mark Kennedy Associate Professor Dr Kennedy s research focusses on the emergence of new markets and industries and the more basic building blocks of organising categories, identities, forms, strategies, practices, reputation criteria and so on. Within this broad topic, he pays particular attention to meaning construction processes, often by using text-mining techniques to extract and analyse patterns of association among actors, ideas and objects as they appear in conventional and new social media. He is also the Director of the KPMG Centre for Advanced Business Analytics. The Global Online MBA experience Admissions Entry requirements Minimum 5 years relevant postgraduate work experience A First or Second Class Honours degree (or international equivalent) from a recognised university, or an accepted professional qualification The programme is highly interactive and you will be encouraged to contribute the experiences and insights you ve gained during your working life. English language requirement All applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. Students who are not native speakers of English, or were not awarded their degree in a qualifying English speaking country, must demonstrate their proficiency by completing an approved English language qualification (including GCSE English, IELTS, TOEFL) at the required level. How to apply The next Global Online MBA intake is in January 2016. As the programme is highly competitive, we recommend that you apply as early as possible. All applications are made online. As part of your application, you will be required to provide the following: Three-minute video pitch Two professional references Personal statement CV Career-planning essays Complete degree transcripts English language test results (if applicable) To submit an application, you will need to pay a non-refundable application processing fee of 100. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an online interview before a final decision is made by the Admissions committee.
