Installation Manual Basic Audio System with or without original AUX socket INTRODUCTION Read through all of the instructions before starting the installation. Notifications and warning texts are for your safety and to minimise the risk of something breaking during the installation. Ensure that all tools stated in the instructions are available to you, before starting the installation. Certain steps in the instructions are only presented in the form of images.
BLP-990 Main Cables A: Power harness. Note! For basic audio system do not use the grey male connector and, if you have original AUX socket draw the male RCA connectors to your BLP-990 DVD box RCA AUX input. A B: Radio antenna harness. Connect between car radio connector and BLP-990 DVD box, the blue cable is for the antenna power and should connect to corresponding blue cable from power harness (A). Secure the connector by using tape. B C: 32 Pin LCD frame harness. Connect between the BLP-990 DVD box and BLP-990 LCD frame connector. WARNING: NEVER REMOVE THIS CONNECTOR WHEN UNIT STILL HAS POWER! D: Waterfall dash harness. Connect between the waterfall dash and the car connector. LIN: Connect to corresponding LIN signal cable on ICM board connector position nr 2 and with colors blue/white. 4-PIN: Connect to corresponding 4 pin connector from LCD frame. C D
Preparations Turn the ignition switch to position 0. Disconnect the negative battery lead. Note! Wait at least five minutes before disassembling the connectors or removing other electrical equipment. 1. Remove the panel on the right hand side of the dashboard, by carefully prying it loose all around with a weatherstrip tool until the three clips release. Note! Do not damage the dashboard.
2. Remove the clip that holds the vent to the air duct. 3. Open the glove compartment, remove any contents and the rubber mat. 4. Carefully pry off the panel inside the centre console with a weatherstrip tool. It is fitted with two clips on each short side. Pull the panel away downwards.
5. Remove the five screws, in the opening to the glove compartment. 6. Remove the glove compartment front section. Pull it back until the two clips in the upper edge release, following which, detach the three connectors on the upper side. 7. Remove the screw to the air vent, on the right hand side. Pull it away from the connection and lay it aside.
8. Undo the screws securing the glove compartment inner section. Pull out the glove compartment and put it aside. 9. Pry off the panel at the rear edge of the center console. Unplug the connectors. 10. Remove the screws.
11. Detach the surround from around the display and the media player. Press in the catch, in one of the surround's upper corners using a small screwdriver. Carefully pry off the surround on the same side using a weatherstrip tool. 12. Remove the display with the infotainment control module (ICM). It is secured by two hidden clips. Put it aside. Unplug the connectors. Hint: Press out the control module out from behind 13. Remove the two screws. Remove the connector on the reverse of the center console. Then remove the center console.
14. Applies to cars with a manual gearbox. Remove the gear selector lever boot from the center console. First pry it off at the front edge using a weatherstrip tool and then unhook it at the rear edge. 15. Remove the two clips securing the cables to the media player by first pressing them to the sides, and then pulling them away downwards. Note! Be careful with the optic cables so that they are not bent or stretched. 16. Remove the two screws from the bottom of the media player. Pull out the media player. Disconnect the connector on the reverse side.
17. Take the glove compartment inner section, and cut a small hole with a sharp knife on the upper left corner for the cables. 18. Route all necessary cables out from the hole made and install the DVD box inside the glove compartment inner section. Hint: You either can install the DVD player on the button of the glove compartment with included sticker, or you can use 3M tape to install it to the upper part of the glove compartment.
19. Route harness A, B and C from the DVD player to the left of the centre console. Route the GPS antenna, the microphone and other necessary cables to the right. 20. Fit the inner section of the glove compartment in its correct position. Use the two screws that were previously removed and screw in the glove compartment. Reinstall the air duct. Connect the connectors to the front section of the glove compartment. Reinstall the front section of the glove compartment Reinstall the panel on the right-hand side of the dashboard.
21. Route the microphone and GPS antenna cables through A-pillar, towards the centre ceiling panel.
22. Mount the GPS antenna with 3M tape behind the rear mirror and the microphone onto the ceiling panel.
23. Connect the female grey connector from harness A from the kit to the corresponding male connector in your car. Note! For basic audio do not connect the male connector from harness A and DO NOT reinstall your original CD player.
24. If your car is equipped with an original AUX socket, you can still use this socket together with BLP-990 by connecting the two male RCA cables from harness A to the BLP-990 AUX input.
25. When the connectors from harness A have been connected with the corresponding harness, hide the harness well into the empty space. 26. Connect the connectors from harness B with corresponding radio connector, secure the connector by using tape.
27. Route harness C into position, according to the picture below. 28. Connect the red LIN cable from harness D together with LIN cable on the ICM panel adapter. The LIN cable on the ICM adapter will have position nr 2 and is blue/white coloured. White/Blue cable pin nr 2 LIN SIGNAL CABLE, CONNET WITH RED LIN CABLE FROM HARNESS D!
29. Connect the male green connector from harness D to the waterfall dash connector, and connect the green female connector from harness D to the corresponding male connector from the car.
30. Reinstall the waterfall dash.
31. Remove the graphical LCD from the ICM panel Undo the 3 screws Undo the 2 screws
Remove the front cover Undo the two screws Unplug the cables from its connector and remove the graphical LCD HINT: BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE FLAT CABLE CONNECTOR! Reinstall the board into the plastic frame.
Reinstall heatsink and the 3 screws. 32. Reinstall the ICM panel into the waterfall dash.
33. Route the 4 pin connector cable from LCD frame and connect with corresponding pin connector from harness D.
34. Install the white flat cable from BLP-990 LCD panel carefully with the flat cable connector on ICM board. Be careful with not damaging the flat pin connector on your ICM board. Note! Make sure it is connected correctly and fasten tightly, otherwise no image from the ICM board will be displayed.
35. Connect the routed harness C, to the corresponding connector on the LCD panel. 36. Install the BLP-990 LCD panel into the waterfall dash. 37. Hide all cables behind the waterfall dash. 38. Reinstall all the removed parts in reverse order. Reinstall the battery's negative cable.
