WHY HEALTH INDUSTRY MATTERS? The health sector is an innovative sector which is significantly growing globally and contributes to the increasing relations between states. In this market the strong existing and future international cooperation indicates a great proactive change in research and innovation activities in order to create new, high-tech health industry products. The health sector has strong foundation in research, product development and innovation activities, which require specialised collaboration and competences. The cooperation in the field of health and health industry is an important part of Hungary s international relations. There is a great potential in cooperation and trade in the areas of pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology, medical technology and the related IT solutions HUNGARY AND THE HEALTH SECTOR The Hungarian health industry has long traditions, and the country is internationally recognized in the field. Our pharmaceutical industry is one of the best in the region, and we have a very good research background from genomics to infobionics. One of the most traditional Hungarian industries is medical technology. Several Hungarian companies have won international acclaim and recognition with their high-quality products and technologies. The Hungarian health products are well-known all over the world, thanks to the sector s capability to adapt innovative technological developments quickly and also its ability to contribute to such innovations. In Hungary, the Government appointed the main directions of health tourism until 2020, regarding the complex utilization of thermal water supplies, the creation of a uniform system of related products and services, and making them as Governmental priority both in development and support policy and in marketing. The development of the health industry set out to create a national industry which is built on Hungary s natural and human resources and hence offers a strategic advantage. Water is a strategic element of the global sustainable development. Hungary is famous for its thermal water, natural water and mineral water. Hungary often referred to Freshwater superpower, thanks to its high-quality drinking water and unique thermal baths. Hungary is keen to play an active role in international water cooperation. We are ready to share our experiences with other countries of the world. Hungary has traditional herb-culture. Connecting to the herbs, Hungary has high value added herb based natural products, which are well-known internationally and the innovation and development of such products are priority of the Government.

Hungary set up the Healthy Hungary and Healing Hungary websites which creates opportunity to sell Hungarian health products and services internationally together with the promotion of health tourism.
